The room and the grounds are immaculate, the staff does an excellent job keeping everything so clean. The room was updated and modern and the bed was very comfortable. Also the rooms were so quiet, I never heard a peep from the other rooms. The breakfast was a nice touch also, fruit, yogurt, oatmeal and danishes. No mini fridge in...

I stayed here for 5 nights while a friend was in the Stanford Hospital; it's about a 10-minute drive away. It was quiet, clean and pleasant; much friendlier than staying at a larger chain hotel. Would recommend it.

We stayed here on the night before we flew home to the UK. I chose this hotel because of its price and location. Palo Alto is full of places to shop and eat. The hotel is small and friendly, but the attention to detail is good. The pool is a great size and has a proper "deep" deep end. The...

We stayed at the County Inn Motel whilst attending a training course in a near by location. The rate was much more reasonable than near by properties ($89/night). Parking was free. The owner stayed up late to check us in post 11pm when our flight didn't arrive until late and was very welcoming. Clearly great pride had been taken in...

Clear pride of ownership and maintenance. Cleanest place I have ever seen, inside and out. Not a paint chip out of place! It's obvious that they have invested (up-to-date bathroom fixtures & tile-work.) Beds comfortable, linens nice. Individual A/C which works well. Windows open to smell fresh air. If you want a microwave or refrig, regular rooms don't have this,...

Nothing to complain about! I was there for 6 nights last March, it was clean and confortable. Large room with TV, phone and Wifi. Breakfast ok, though could be better. Swimming pool and BBQ equipment, wonderful roses! By the way, you need a car!

I count room cleanliness and overall property maintenance as much more important than ANY amenities, and this motel outshines just about I can remember staying in for the past 25 years in those two areas. It was spic and span, including the window sliders, the walk-ways, the door hardware, the tile grout. Really extraordinary attention to detail in cleaning. Love...

Good price, location, free wifi, and very clean. Also the breakfast was better than I expected. There were just unexciting individually wrapped commercial muffins or danishes, but also fresh fruit, juices, and some yogurts. The coffee was good.. Our room had air conditioning, but we didn't use it The not as good parts: hard bed, and the smell of whatever...

We have stayed here once to await the birth of our first grandchild and visit family in the area, and are booked again for the same reason. Our first stay was wonderful, and the only reason I can't give the motel more than 4 stars is that it is a motel. It does not have either a restuarant or fitness...

As the saying goes: "... you can't make a silk purse out of a sow's ear".. but this is an excellent try and a welcome relief from the frenzy of Reunion Week at Stanford University. Here, right now, on this Planet, is a sensible and reasonable base for business and pleasure. I believe we were put in the "Broom Closet"...

Official Description (provided by the hotel)
The Palo Alto Country Inn was built in 1954 along the El Camino Real, the main thoroughfare of that time. Shaded by large trees and surrounded by orchards, travelers would stay here when visiting Stanford University or the city of San Francisco. Founded by Italian immigrants, the Cesano family took care to provide excellent service, and clean, well-maintained rooms for their guests. Many became good friends as they made the Country Inn their home away from home. Today, the inn lies at the heart of a busy Silicon Valley. Destinations such as Google, Yahoo, Apple, Stanford and many Bay Area attractions are within easy reach. Although the surroundings may have changed, the Cesano children and grandchildren have carried on the traditions of providing an affordable and comfortable place to stay. The staff and the accommodations continue to earn the trust of returning clientele and the rave reviews of new visitors. Some special features of the Country Inn are the lovely garden patio that greets you as you arrive, the pool area with available barbeques and ample patio furniture, rooms with kitchens, free wi-fi, and consistently friendly service. At the Country Inn you will find all of the modern conveniences as well as enjoy the warmth and welcome of a quaint inn of days gone by. Please consider us as your hosts on your next trip to the San Francisco Bay Area. ... more   less
