Originally built in 1936 by reputed Purple Gang Mobster Al Wertheimer, the Colony Palms Hotel was once a saloon, speakeasy and gambling house that later became a playground for Hollywood ICONS including Humphrey Bogart, Marilyn Monroe, Clark Gable, Frank Sinatra, Dean Martin & Rita Hayworth. Colony Palms Hotel has maintained its nobility as a stunning four-star boutique hotel spread out over a three acre property. The rooms promise subtle sophistication with brilliantly colored mosaic tiles and fabrics, rich woods, and suzani headboards. Many have fireplaces and claw-foot bathtubs. Mature gardens throughout the property provide privacy, and intimate outdoor spaces, and the rooms open to the a central courtyard with pool. The hotel’s restaurant, the Purple Palm boasts exquisite cuisine and a stunning view of both the pool and San Jacinto Mountains. The newly redesigned Spa offers a serene atmosphere and top of the line treatments. Colony Palms Hotel also plays host to a variety of stunning weddings and events, with the option of utilizing a newly refreshed private event space or a full property buyout for a truly intimate celebration. Colony Palms Hotel is a mix of modern luxuries with a dash of romance and tranquil getaway.

I paid $400 (solo) for a special occasion and thought I was going to get an amazing experience. All I wanted was to eat a nice dinner by the pool. The girl first came to give me a menu but never returned to take my $60 order. I wound up walking around downtown looking for something to eat and when I finally found it it was not good. This type of service at a four-star hotel is absolutely unacceptable. This is the most insulting waste of $400 I can ever think of. I also feel like I was typecast and maybe some other famous clients in the pool area were being serviced more attentively. You ruined my night and my dinner. Hopefully I’m not gonna be charged any of your ridiculous fees. Also no USB ports in a $400 room? I called to inquire and they didn’t even offer to locate one for me. I had to go stand in line at 7-Eleven to get one.

Visited in group of three rooms, one classic room, two bungalows, right after the hotel opened post-COVID. It was not ready to be open, and certainly not ready to be charging upwards $500 a night for a really sub-par level of service. Perhaps it looks good on Instagram but it won't look good on your bank statement or your face when you leave. From housekeeping that knocked on our door to ask us if we were checking out a day before we were supposed to, to an electricity cut for 6 hours, to a staff that just forgot to bring our bags to the room and had us lug them up a flight of steps, all of this is forgivable at a price point lower than this. Bungalows are nice, but the standard rooms are dark, cavernous little hovels. Hotel did offer a refund of a small amount of one night's stay, plus the never-communicated "Resort Tax" (amenity fee - but what amenities?) and also of the never-communicated $40 valet parking fee (which consisted of waiting ten minutes for a valet to retrieve the car from their own parking lot a one-minute walk away). But overall I felt this place was a scam, and certainly nowhere near a luxury property.

This hotel is so quaint and gorgeous. Brand new. Style ! And Benicio at the front desk was so friendly and helpful. He spoiled us and makes us feel so welcome. Celebrating a romantic anniversary and he made it even more special. He found us a room when online said it was full. And made us feel like honeymooners :) Thanks Benicio. My wife and i got married here almost 5 years ago and were blown away by the new ownership and property. Excellent renovation and will definitely be back soon as we live in LA. Also, Benicio at the Front Desk was extremely helpful!
