Nestled at the base of the San Jacinto Mountains, Palm Springs is a desert-dwelling oasis. Home to 350 days of sunshine, charming streets lined with palm trees, and stunning mid-century modern architecture dating back to the 1920s, this neighborhood sets the perfect scene for a little rest, recovery, and relaxation. Spend an afternoon exploring the endless boutiques, sidewalk bistros, hiking trails, art galleries, or nearby Uptown Design District. Year-round festivals are also held here, including the Palm Springs International Film Festival, Coachella, and Stagecoach.

Very convenient for checking in and requesting through your phone. The space is great and very straightforward - no frills, so if you’re going to Palm Springs for an experience through your hotel, this probably won’t be the best fit for you. It’s near a lot of places to visit and a very short drive to downtown.

This is an automated service hotel with no front desk or number to call. The number they give you to call goes into a continuous loop where you never talk to anyone and are only given options for automated responses. When we tried to use the app for check in, it kept saying "oops, something went wrong". There is no front desk, so we had to come by twice and finally someone showed up to check us in. We were supposed to get an email with check in instructions which was never sent. Hotel is not very comfortable, they only have one chair in the room and one chair outside. If there are two people sharing the room you can move the inside chair outside or sit on the bed, a/c unit is very loud and shuts off at night, making the room hot. Bathroom floor was dirty and sticky--it seems like someone used a lot of hairspray/suntan spray in the bathroom and floor was not properly cleaned and had a black haze over the tile. No iron/ironing board in room.

We booked 5 rooms/2 nights for a photo shoot, members of our company and our photographer & stylist. The first night the fire alarm went off @ 2AM, rang and rang until it was shut off. The next night, electricity went out Midnight to 6AM (not the hotel's fault) BUT the same thing happened with the fire alarm at 2AM AGAIN, but this time there was no one to shut it off. The fire department trucks finally came, light and commotion. By the time they got the thing shut off a lot of the guests had loaded their cars and split, including our photographer, he could not take another moment at this property. It appeared there was no staff on site at night. I find this hard to believe and think it is illegal as well. We contacted Sonder for a refund -OR- at least an apology. That was 2-weeks ago. HELLO SONDER ARE YOU READING THIS? PLEASE DO GET BACK TO US!

Response from Sonder Team, Owner at Sonder at V Palm Springs
Responded 4 days ago
Hello, we appreciate you sharing your experience and are truly sorry for the events that occurred. This is not representative of a typical stay and we understand how frustrated you and your crew must have been as a result of these false fire alarms. I do want to clarify that we do keep staff on site, and provide 24/7 support available through the app. This review is anonymous so we can not link it with your reservation, however, we are reaching out via phone call and email to all guests who stayed with us during this time period. If you're open to getting in touch with us, we'd love to follow-up with you directly and do our best to make this right. We hope you'll consider giving us another chance in the future so we can show you a more relaxing stay.

The design and outdoor areas of this property are nice however there is a lack of attention to details. A fire alarm went off two nights during our stay waking us up out of sleep. There were issues with the shower head, toilet seat was loose, bed was uncomfortable, refrigerator way too small to hold anything, pool was cloudy, and our vehicle was stolen from. Sense this property is all online and there is no front desk there is no one to talk to about the issues. I have spoken to people through text and email and I don’t feel like they care.

My wife and I stayed at the V for our 10 year anniversary last month. When we arrived, our room smelled like marijuana (not the most pleasant smell to be welcomed by). Our room was stocked with extra towels and was mostly clean. The exception to this was the bathroom floor—think old movie theater sticky floors. This type of build up only happens due to negligence over an extended period of time and is really inexcusable when everyone is toting "elevated sanitation standards" due to COVID-19. Additionally, the AC units are SUPER loud. Yes, it's the desert and it's super hot and we should be thankful they're available—agreed. But with nothing in the rooms to absorb the sound (the floors are concrete) the AC wall units make the rooms exceptionally noisy. Other than that, we spent an entire day at the adult pool where the staff was fantastic. We also spent some time at the family pool which was almost completely empty. Overall, our stay at the V was "fine." The property is pretty well maintained. We would consider coming back with our kids.
