The Monkey Tree Hotel is a private 16-room boutique hotel nestled against the backdrop of the gorgeous San Jacinto mountains on a large one-acre property in Palm Springs, California. Originally designed and built in 1960, the hotel re-opened in 2016, after a restoration by its current owners to its original mid-century modern design. A healthy continental breakfast is served every morning and is included in the room price. Inside the expansive private courtyard are a large, heated saltwater swimming pool and lush lawn area spacious enough to find a secluded area to relax in peace. The hotel also boasts the area’s first Scandinavian spa, which includes a dry sauna, hot tub and cold plunge. Use the spa to rejuvenate, re-energize, or recover from a workout.

Where to even begin, this is truly one of my favorite hotels in existence. This is our second time staying at The Monkey Tree and I'm constantly blown away by their attention to detail, the pristine rooms, the delicious breakfast and perfectly maintained property. We recently stayed (post Covid opening) and I felt very safe and taken care of. The chairs around the property and pool were very spread out. I chose the contactless check in and it was easy and efficient. They had left restaurant options in the room, we used Postmates to deliver to the hotel. The daily continental breakfast is left outside you're room. They really put a lot of thought into reducing contact but still being available to help with anything. I highly recommend this hotel if you're looking for an escape especially during this very difficult times. Thank you to the owners for another wonderful stay, we can't wait to return!

Visited Monkey tree during the July 4th weekend. As usual we had an amazing, relaxing time! Owners Kathy and Gary keep the property immaculate and are keeping all guests safe during this Covid time. Delicious and healthy individually bagged breakfast is delivered to your door by Gary with mask and gloves on. Contactless check in and out, contactless fresh towel service, chaises are arranged for social distance and sanitized daily, and everyone was considerate following the wear a mask policy when walking around the property. It was paradise, so clean and well kept. Kathy and Gary are such gracious hosts! We love Monkey Tree!

This was such a fun weekend staying at The Monkey Tree! My wife and I were celebrating our anniversary and had a great time hanging out by the pool. The pool area and all the decorations were fun and funky. The location is a few minutes form the main strip, but that's not an issue and you get a much better rate. Kathy is so nice and made us feel welcomed.

We returned to The Monkey Tree for our third time the first weekend they re-opened from the COVID closure (June 20-22th). We knew that it would be a slightly different experience, as several things that we've come to love at the hotel such as the freshly cooked breakfast in the Great Room and the poolside sodas and sangria just weren't possible in the current times. We were very impressed by how well the hotel adapted to the new precautions and regulations. Prior to our arrival we were able to do an online check-in, that would render our arrival at the hotel "hands free". When we arrived at the hotel, Kathy, (in her mask) greeted us (also masked up), and took us to our room and unlocked the door. Our keys had been sanitized and placed in a bag in the room prior to our arrival. We discovered that there was sparkling wine and a few water bottles waiting for us in our room to make up for no communal sangria during happy hour. The pool chairs and chaise lounges were properly spaced for social distancing, and everything was as lovely and comfortable as usual. Pool towels were already in our room, instead of out by the pool, along with a bag for dirty towels so that they could be swapped out if needed. The hotel has implemented a text message line so that you can text for anything you might need during your stay, instead of having to ask face-to-face. This is also how you arrange what time you'd like your continental breakfast, which is brought to your room each morning. Our breakfast included a yogurt, house made granola, a banana, mandarin orange, water bottle, and a freshly baked treat each morning (a scone the first morning and muffin the second). They've also created a new outdoor breakfast area, in case you'd like to eat outside! Overall, we had a wonderful stay. It was great to get out of our apartment for a few days and we can say without a doubt that we'll be back soon!

When our 10th anniversary trip to France was canceled the first place I called was our beloved Monkey Tree Hotel! This little boutique hotel with just 16 rooms has always been a favorite but when we heard they would reopen on June 19 due to the pandemic we were the first to book our stay! Owners Kathy and Gary have the place pristine, beautiful and extremely clean! We felt completely safe and so well taken care of. Our normal continental breakfast (special treats made by owner Gary) was delivered in a cute little bag to our room each day! This place is magical any time but it was a wonderful and welcoming respite during these trying times! Come and stay..,,you will be so glad you did!
