The website photos do not do this place justice. It is a small delightful, modern motel/hotel. It’s sister hotel is to the south of it and another hotel right to the north only steps away has a lovely Mexican restaurant and bar. And the sister hotel has a restaurant and bar also. So, even though the movie colony hotel does not have a bar or restaurant on site, It actually kind of does being steps away from two other friendly hotels. The price is right. And it’s pet friendly, I did not bring my pet, but I would in the future. Nice music at the pool. The bedroom was modern with a lovely shower and linens on the bed. Lovely sitting areas around and very private. Not a party place in my opinion. Quiet, romantic, and a wonderful spot to unwind.
We were lucky to have found ourselves lost and not on the main highway otherwise we would not have found this little gem so close to the main attractions in Palm Springs. Our party of 3 male adults greatly enjoyed our 3 night stay and our reluctant departure summed up what a superb relaxing stay we had. Everything was so convenient and laid back with comfortable sleeping arrangements and an excellent shower while the location of our room was ideal just a few short steps away from the delightful swimming pool and hot tub that were freely available 24 hours a day. Breakfast as far as I was concerned was ideal with everything necessary to get your day off to an ideal start whilst the Cheese and Wine Reception from 4pm was an added bonus and an ideal way to meet fellow guests several of whom were regulars, always a good sign. I have to mention the staff because every single one of them did everything they could to make our stay enjoyable and comfortable. If I could state one negative it would be the price, 374 dollars per night but there was a major tennis tournament taking place 20 miles away and it is so very convenient for the delights that Palm Springs has to offer. If I ever find myself lucky to be in the area again, unlikely at my age, I will, without hesitation, head back to the charming and delightful Movie Colony Hotel that we were so lucky to find.…
Interesting architecture nicely restored, close to centre but patchy service, no breakfast till 9am and pretty limited at that. Comfortable rooms, but weekend rates expensive for what it was and extra 20 dollars ‘resort fee’ to park per day having a laugh. Could be a great place with a few small changes, small hotel certainly meets the ‘boutique’ title.
This was by far one of the best small hotels we have stayed at. Beautiful décor and patio and pool. Hot tub divine. Nate was a dream host and Olivia was so helpful getting settled in. If I could give 5+++ I would. Walk next door for amazing Mexican cuisine (we ate there 3 nights and 2 nights at Billie Reeds. ) Exceptional food. We will definitely stay there again when in Palm Springs.
This is to nice for stay and hotel is to nice with me they all provide me what i want and full of clean ness i will recomond to people go there and had a stay and that hotel view was so amazing...awsm
The hotel could be charming but so many details are overlooked. Our room needed vacuum cleaning. The lobby closes at 5 and doesn’t open until whenever the next day. The advertised breakfast and afternoon social hour didn’t materialize during our 5 day stay. The pool was a few degrees too cool for January. The few staff who were around were nice and obliging but overall for over $200 a night there are better places
Classic mid-century architecture. Cool vibe, sleek interior design. A little TLC needed in some of the exterior finishes. Olivia front-desk host was exceptionally welcoming, attentive, and joyful. Five stars for Olivia's service and demeanor. Pool and hot tub were clean and refreshing. Easy walking distance to downtown PSP hot spots. I would stay here again.
It is a very nice boutique hotel, with a pool, hot tub and a great view from our room (26). The website showed a fantastic continental breakfast but it turned out to be breakfast in a brown paper bag. We were not impressed as this is not what we were expecting. Half way through the week they put out a mini-continental breakfast but not until 10am. We were quite disappointed and this affects our score for the property.
We had a lovely stay at this gem of a boutique hotel. Super location, quiet, comfortable beds, thoughtfully appointed rooms. Our experience was made all the more memorable due to the excellent and personable customer service of Nate and Olivia. They went out of their way to look after us and make us feel at home. From going above and beyond to secure us American Thanksgiving reservations (PS Bongo Johnny’s was a great find! Whoops on our part for not doing our homework to plan ahead) and provide complimentary wine and cheese each evening. We really enjoyed this feature and the opportunity to visit with you both. Oh… and the fruit-infused water was delightful. Also wanted to mention something I noticed. While we were enjoying the pool one morning, a staff member from the sister hotel across the street was walking through the deck area on a mission, but he looked at us, saw there were a small number of leaves in the water, and he stopped. He then went back to get the pool skimmer and spent about 10 minutes cleaning it up. I was struck by this ‘see it - own it’ attitude. Certainly denotes staff commitment to a quality experience for guests. Impressive. We would book this hotel again in a heartbeat. Extra thanks again to Olivia and Nate. You were stellar.…
Movie Colony hotel was recommended for our stay in Palm Springs by a fellow Aussie LA dweller. We can honestly say it was the best motel with the best service we stayed at during our whirlwind tour of California. Nate went above and beyond helping us with our travels. Don’t miss out on the wine and cheese night. We are forever grateful Nate - love from the Australians!
