We just returned from Descanso and had a wonderful week. The property is first class. Little extras like breakfast and lunch provided by the Descanso were excellent. The property is located close to all Palm Springs had to offer but also gives you an oasis of calm when you are on the beautiful grounds of the Descanso. The staff are all very friendly and helpful with any questions or requests. A special shoutout to Bob who served us breakfast every morning with a smile. We look forward to a return trip in the future.

Property's Favorite Review
Just wrapped up a 5-day stay at Descanso and could not have had a more pleasant stay. Absolutely 5 stars. We have absolutely nothing but glowing words for Descanso, its rooms/property, the staff, and the amenities. - Rooms/Property - Properties in PS can be iffy and look way better in pictures given the age of a lot of the properties and how long ago they were renovated. This is not an issue at Descanso; it absolutely looks just like the pictures on the site - if not better. Everything on the property was in excellent shape and is incredibly well maintained. Fixtures and finishes are high end and you truly feel like a lot of time, though, and effort was expended to ensure each guest room and the public areas are meant to convey a sense of style and comfort. Our room, #3, was exactly as we expected with not a single surprise that wasn't welcome. It had a fridge and plenty of closet space to hang and store clothing. In general, it was very spacious with a sofa and king bed and lots of room for activities. The air conditioner worked flawlessly given temps were in the 110+ (F) range. Public spaces were meticulously maintained by the staff, even if some of the guests weren't as accustomed to picking up after themselves when filing back into the property early in the morning or going for a late night/early morning dip. Each morning by 7 AM all the pool recliners were perfectly aligned with a rolled towel awaiting the chair's occupant, and umbrellas stationed ready to block out the sun's rays. Literally exactly like the photos on the site. Each morning, like clockwork. The pool could not have been a more perfect temperature. I'm unsure at what temp the pool is kept, but whether in the middle of the night or during the hottest hours of the day, the water was simultaneously refreshing and welcoming. It wasn't hot (it was perfectly warm) nor did you feel like you were participating in a Polar Bear Plunge. There was never any shock or shiver, whether you eased your way into the water or just jumped right in. It *is* a salt water pool, though, so be sure to rinse off after swimming. Location is great. It's close enough to Arenas that it's a short Uber ride or drive, if you rent a car while still being far enough away that you aren't dealing with downtown Palm Springs. It's right off a main road, though, but you don't hear much noise...save maybe police or ambulance sirens - which you'd hear anywhere. But that also affords easy access to anywhere in the Palm Springs area. Parking was ample and we never had a problem finding a space. Plus, they have a charging station if you drive your own EV. - Services - Room refreshes were quick and early in the day to make sure the room was ready as soon as we were back from breakfast. Almost felt like the staff were keeping an eye on us to leave so they could pop in and make up the room. Every morning they provide continental breakfast. It's perfect for a small bite if you need something to tide you over. Plus, they have cold drinks and small snacks available in that same location throughout the day. On Sundays they also provide mimosas. Plus, it's Wine o'Clock at 4 PM every day by the pool. And on really hot days they provide popsicles poolside. That may be every day, actually, now that I think about it. Lunch is also included every day. You order by text message and the menu is out by 7-ish each morning. It includes various wraps and salads. Everything we had was tasty and fresh, and was ready by about noon or so. It was really nice to have lunch delivered to the property (or your room, if you're out and about) and to be able to eat poolside. We spent several hours just relaxing by the pool reading, talking to other guests, and enjoying the dry heat. And the lunch is filling...no need to get a separate meal. - Staff & Guests - We could not have been more pleased with Kent and the rest of the staff. Everyone was friendly, inviting, and more than happy to engage with the us and the other guests. Of course, it's a gay men's resort so expect a degree of cheekiness. Which was both lighthearted and welcomed. Kent went out of his way to show us around the property and our room, and explain any nuances of accessing the grounds. He was also ready to provide recommendations if necessary. We used to live in the area so we didn't need any ideas, but he's there if you need him. Given there are only a handful (18?) of rooms, you come to know the other guests quickly. It's very much a family atmosphere of sorts by the end of the stay...as can be expected of somewhat close quarters. We made many new friends that we saw both at the resort and at the bars on Arenas. Hardly unheard of in the gay world. The rooms are well insulated from both heat and noise, but the communal areas are mere steps away so there's never a lack of community. We absolutely plan to return - though maybe when it's not so hot out...we should have known better but wanted to take advantage of the July 4th holiday. There's no wonder why this is ranked #1 on Trip Advisor. We've already recommended it to friends back at home and plan to bring a gaggle of folks out next time to take the place over.

The resort is lush and green and intimate in scale. I loved the wine happy hour and Sunday mimosas. The indoor/outdoor lounge area is a nice touch. The beds are very relaxing and the rooms are a nice size. The staff is very accommodating and friendly.

Thank you to Charles and the staff for an amazing time. One thing I liked about this property was the 4pm wine hour where you got to meet other people. Great for a solo traveller. The room was spacious, and I appreciated the brunch fixings. Lunches were healthy and in to go boxes- perfect for when you want to save it for later in your fridge.

Our ultimate goal in recent visits to Palm Springs includes our desire to stay at each of the trio of resorts, of which one is Descanso. Our last visit was to sister property Twin Palms, which was absolutely delightful (the third is Santiago). This time at Descanso, we felt right at home with a very familiar and positively predictive operating model, but with a slightly different vibe. Many of the other guests staying were repeat visitors to Descanso and all of them noted the unique personalities of each property in the family. Descanso is small enough to offer a comfortable, home-like feel with the type of guests that you wouldn't mind having in your own home. It's as private as you want it to be, certainly quiet and definitely relaxing. We booked a balcony deluxe suite (Room 25), which offered us ample room, a huge ensuite bath with separate shower and tub and a nice separate seating area outside the bedroom. Like the sister properties, a fresh continental breakfast is offered, plus a poolside lunch daily. We were surprised each late afternoon, when wine was offered poolside. When you stay for a week or more, it's fun to watch and meet the various guests that arrive. There were people from all over the world visiting, all of them pretty friendly. The staff works very hard to make sure that everything is "just so." They were constantly circulating the pool deck and property to pick up every speck of trash and ensure there were ample towels for the pool and spa guests. The room was kept equally as spotless and comfortable. Kudos to Charles and Maxwell for their fine and friendly management! We've been visiting Palm Springs for years and we're happy we have found some additional high-quality options for impeccable resort life! While our next visit will be to Santiago to top off our trio, we will definitely return to Descanso in the future and have already begun recommending it to friends.

I recently stayed at Descanso Resort and am happy to share that the place surpassed my expectations. The hotel itself is beautiful, and a real oasis of calm. Charles, Maxwell, and all the staff were warm and charming, attentive without being intrusive, and helpful every step of the way. The small size of the hotel makes for a wonderfully intimate setting, and guests are friendly and familiar as a result. With a breakfast and poolside lunch, and the gorgeous palm trees swaying above the courtyard, it’s a difficult place to leave. The amenities were top notch, they have bikes to ride, the room was large, and it was a fully enjoyable holiday. I look forward to returning in the future.

My husband and I loved everything about Descanso. The property and amenities were beautiful, very clean and well-kept, and the service and attention to detail top-notch. It's harder than ever to find this at a hotel that's also affordable for middle class travelers, so I can't praise the place enough in this regard. We loved the warm vibe and social aspect of meeting and getting to know other visitors. This is a place we will definitely visit again.
