Rude and unhelpful staff. Terrible cocktails. Split unit air conditioners that blow directly onto your face. Uncomfortable beds. Lovely space but poorly managed. Lacking in comfort needed for a nice hotel. Won’t be going back and don’t recommend!

Back at Sparrow’s far a relaxing day-trip with my wife. The service has been extraordinary as was the lunch and craft cocktails we just enjoyed. I must admit, the 21+ hotel movement that Sparrow’s has embraced only adds to the tranquil atmosphere and overall allure of the property. If you’re looking for a romantic and/or relaxing retreat in the Palm Springs area, look no further.

My husband and I had the good fortune, recently, of spending our anniversary weekend at Sparrows Lodge. Contained in its own little world of gorgeous greenery and noble, old-growth palm trees, the place is a beautifully curated showplace for not only some fabulous art, but the very traditions of mid-century architecture and small-town friendliness and comfort. New to the town, we managed to spend some time doing the usual sightseeing--the air museum, the art museum, and Joshua Tree. But, our favorite thing to do, we discovered, was to loll beside the pool, with the misters bathing us in coolness from on high, while sipping some of the bar's fabulous liquid concoctions brought to us by the many attentive servers, whose names, I regret to say, I did not learn. We enjoyed a wonderful dinner at the Farm, one night, then moved over to the fire pit to construct and gorge ourselves on S'mores, and engaged in some wonderful conversations with other guests gathered around the fire. It felt, a bit, like being at home, but even better. We also enjoyed talking to Bryan, who told us a lot about the town's traditions, and we vowed that we'd be back at other times of the year, and we will definitely choose to stay, again at Sparrows Lodge. It was a lovely, quiet, and beautiful experience.

This was our 3rd stay at SL and we keep staying longer and longer. From the relaxes, low-key atmosphere to the great food and attentive staff, it feels like a home away from home. The book selection is amazing and i like the private patios at the back.

We loved everything about Sparrows. The property is beautiful, absolutely heavenly. We ate our meals under the arbor and spent most of our time by the pool. The pool was the perfect temperature. The food was so delicious we ate all of our meals there. Cocktails were awesome too. I don’t even know where to start about the service. I felt pampered. Everyone was so sweet and wouldn’t let you lift a finger. We are already planning to return annually, maybe even more often. I can’t stop thinking about it!

If you like luxury in a natural setting, then Sparrows Lodge is for you. Every detail is carefully considered from the relaxing front lobby to the comfortable couch on a private patio. The lodge is a delight for the senses from the sage and lavender aromas that waft through the property filling the air to the interesting artwork in the private and public areas. We were treated like royalty from the time we entered the lobby to our checkout. We arrived at 9 am because I needed to go to a business meeting at 10 am, and wanted my husband to stay at the hotel until I returned at 2 pm. He was able to relax by the pool and eat lunch even though our room was not ready (understandably). Even though Open Table said there were no dinner reservations for the night, the staff slipped us in and the dinner was delightful. I read that some had problems with the parking lot...we had absolutely no issues. We will be back!

Sparrows Lodge is a gorgeous property that, though intimate, still manages to provide a variety of indoor and outdoor spaces - you'll want to spend your day and evening moving from place to place. Great design, art, and furnishings alongside beautifully landscaped gardens. There's full sun at the pool and shade under eaves or citrus trees in the garden. Bikes, smores at the fire pit, and an eye-catching and delicious breakfast are a special touch. Five stars for service... property care, housekeeping, front desk, kitchen staff, and servers were professional, friendly, and performed their jobs with care.

We stayed for two nights at the end of March before heading to see family in LA. We loved all the spaces that have been created for hanging out and relaxing. The vibe is rustic and comfortable. With only 20 rooms the Sparrow is very intimate and private. The pool area is stylish, the outside gathering areas are tastefully appointed and comfortable. We sat by the fire pit in Adirondack chairs each morning after breakfast. A continental breakfast buffet is set up each a.m. with simple yet perfect choices. We took the hotel's bikes out and rode around the neighborhoods, went on hikes which were very close to the property and I had a massage with Alex in the massage tent which was excellent (definitely request Alex if you are booking a massage). Only negatives - rooms are very dark including bathroom area (no added make up mirror light), and grounds and rooms would be difficult to navigate with those who have a hard time walking. Stay at the Sparrow for a low key, unpretentious and very comfortable vacation.

There are many lovely things at Sparrows Lodge, but it is not kind to those who use walkers or are walking impaired. Outside areas use large flagstones and smaller rocks for decorative borders. Some pathways were quite narrow. The guestroom floors consist of 3' by 3' slabs of cement each bordered by pebbles. Very attractive, but not to those with stability problems. The walker wheels sometimes get into the pebble borders and have to be lifted out. There is a small parking lot in front of the property and one handicapped designated space in the rear of the property that can only be reached by a sidestreet. I learned a lot about accessibility during our 2 night stay. I will look now for smoother flooring that is walker-friendly.
