The Saguaro Palm Springs is a colorful hotel in the desert. There's plenty of sunshine, a buzzing pool scene, and lots of local flavor. The 244 room hotel has multiple restaurants, bars, and meeting spaces -- all of which surround a stunning pool location. Designed to reflect the colorful vibrant spirit of the Coachella Valley desert, the bold color palette is the work of renowned architects Peter Stamberg and Paul Aferiat, who have infused the property with hues that reflect indigenous desert flowers.

The hotel style is definitely quirky which is a nice change from cookie cutter hotels. The staff are incredibly warm and friendly: shout out to Juan who was a delight at breakfast, Patrick and Randy at the front desk, Colin at the bar (be sure he makes you a margarita with tajin!) and Jess who took me to the airport by shuttle. I was there for a week-long event and the food was delicious. The chicken sopes might have been my favorite. Definitely recommend!

1, No Gideon Bible - managers have obviously knuckled under to the Atheists Against Religion group that has been pressuring managers to remove the bibles. If you don't like it, what about just not reading it? 2. Bait and switch pricing. Website noted about $150 per night. When I made the reservation, the price was about $200 per night. The new actual price included "Amenities Fee" of over $40 per night. Why not just be honest? 3. At 10:03 PM I asked for a plastic knife and plate for some cheese I had. No Can Do. Nothing at the desk, and the restaurant had closed at 10:00. Even the America's Best Value Inn in tiny Wisconsin Rapids could provide that at the desk. 4. The desk staff otherwise was friendly and helpful. This issues here are with the management and chain. 5. Again, No Gideon Bible. These used to be Standard Everyplace. I'm no evangelist, but this woke nonsense is ridiculous. 6. Rates, including the bait and switch, were roughly comparable to other motels. But next time I'll stay in one of those.

Response from Curtis P, General Manager at The Saguaro Palm Springs

Hi John, Thank you for your feedback, we appreciate being able to respond to your concerns in numerical order! 1. We welcome all to the Saguaro and have a very diverse background mix of staff and guests. The nostalgia of hotels in past offering metal hotel room keys, vibrating beds, heavy uniforms and books of menus and hotel rules are fun, but we have to be practical to what today has to offer. Laptops and mobile devices have changed the way travelers access information and go about their daily lives. We offer complimentary wifi to all guests, our wifi even supports downloading and accessing the Gideon App, as well as supports browsing a digital version of whichever scripture they prefer. 2. We are transparent to the extent allowed by each booking channel. We understand there may be quite a bit to review and things can be overlooked. Let's take a channel such as booking.com, we're certain you are familiar with it. Listed is "Today's Price" and under the rate is "Excluded: 0.2 % TAX, 16.5 % City tax, US$ 49.01 Resort fee per night" after you complete your reservation you are sent a confirmation and then messaged through the app again explaining the taxes and amenity fee. 3. We're really sorry our front desk staff could not provide cutlery, we do carry this at the front desk and will review this with the team. 4. Thank you for recognizing our staff, we have a very accepting and diverse management team, and are more than happy to share your concerns with our leadership and brand teams. 5. We are confused with your definition of "woke", the Gideon Bible not offered in hotel rooms is not a predominant social injustice. Currently less than 79% of hotels have a bible as an in room amenity versus 95% 15 years ago. 6. Please refer to our response to #2. We thank you again for your feedback, and do hope our responses assist you for your future travels.

I have to let the world know that this place has the absolutely best, and most professional reception staff (Patrick and Randy). I checked in on a Saturday and stayed through Friday. They personally greeted folks, remembered names, and made my stay away from home very comfortable. I enjoyed seeing them and looked forward to passing their station for a friendly greeting. They also had great recommendations for other excursions so they were a great resource on local food, shopping and recreation. The rooms are clean, and housekeeping was wonderful and accommodating. I will definitely stay here the next time I pass through.

I came to the hotel with my friends for a quick getaway. I wasn’t expecting much from the reviews I have read but the service provided at every outlet was exceptional. The girl that checked us was Stephanie I believe she recommends we head to the cantina for happy hour which was amazing with Jose and Erik they are so attentive and make amazing drinks. I will definitely have to come back on my own with my partner.

The Spicy Guava margarita is the most perfect post hike refreshment, and one of the tastiest ones I’ve ever had. El jefe is only 10 minutes from Indian Valley and the vibe is amazing with options to sit fireside, in a boujee jazzy lounge or a colourful dining area. Nelson was such a sweet server with awesome recommendations and amazing service overall. 10/10!!!

Great vibe and great staff, but the hotel is in need a of a refresh, or at least a deep cleaning. The hotel caters to a younger crowd, which is great. And if that is you... you will love the place. The hotel has seen better days. Carpet and bathrooms are a bit dirty and past their prime.
