Love Villa Royale so much! Its such an easy place to forget the outside world exist. Nothing better then than a mountain view while relaxing in a cabana under misters. Mix that with several gorgeous pools and it really feels like a little bit of paradise. The staff is always excellent and accommodating
Wow! My partner and I hadn’t had a trip away from our kids in 8 years and the Villa Royale somehow lived up to every hope we had for the trip. Beautiful rooms, delicious food at the romantic restaurant, peaceful pools, kind staff. We asked for one of their larger one bedroom rooms for accessibility reasons and they upgraded us to the two room suite with no extra charge which made us feel really cared for. The hotel restaurant has exception tapas style foods and is dark but beautifully lit inside. They have continental breakfast with light fare and great coffee in the mornings. We’ll definitely be back for our next trip!
Air conditioning unit was loud which means I did not get any sleep. Staffs and managers have no idea about treating paying guests in correct manner. It has very high price but low in service delivery.
Zero efficiency lack of professionalism inept management - the general manager Phillip seems to struggle for being able to work together - whereas we had been patiently waiting for days to receive replies to our inquiries there were unexplainable delays. Lisa the sales manager is inexperienced and lax. Case of saying one thing and doing another even though were given several chances to correct course. Quite disappointed with this establishment. not only are not up to par not even at an acceptable average level of decency - they fail badly. Don’t waste your time or money at this hotel.
From the instant you step foot on the grounds, the Villa Royale welcomes you into a relaxing oasis of palm trees and chill music and relaxing mist. With the rooms of this boutique resort positioned around a pair of swimming pools, the Villa Royale invites you to relax in the glorious dry desert heat and cool off in perfectly temperate water. The vibe on the grounds is a blend of hip, friendly and relaxing. Images of classic cinematic celebrities adorn the tiled walls of the resort, but the feeling of the place is anything but Hollywood. Instead, it's a haven of relaxation. The rooms are clean and spacious but the main allure of this charming establishment are its inviting pool areas, glorious spaces for allowing your stress to evaporate in the crisp desert air.
Villa Royale was a perfect escape for the week and well-represented the Palm Springs experience. The decor and design is marvelously retro but not outdated. As an older property there are areas that could use a bit of upkeep but doesn't detract overall as flora and nature abound. To me it was reminiscent of an Italian countryside villa. The staff is wonderful and accommodate every request with a smile. The food from the restaurant is very good with nicely proportioned tapas. Intriguing wine list. The pools are refreshing and the main pool gets the most active. The other pools are quieter and more private. I really loved everything about Villa Royale with one exception. My room was not clean. At all. The floors and shower looked to have been ignored for some time. I did provide this comment to the reception upon check out. …
In my opinion, the hotel looks much better in person than in the pictures. Initially I thought that all of the celebrity murals were kitschy, but they do not detract from the well thought out hotel environment. It is evident that the designer put a lot of thought into what makes a hotel inviting. There is ample space, but it still feels private. Conversation nooks are spread throughout the grounds and the landscaping and decor enhances the rustic style of the spanish bungalows. The result? It is relaxing and makes you want to linger longer...I mean I could've easily stayed a week. There are plenty of bikes always available to tour Palm Springs, and since this hotel is so ideally located, I wish I had the time to explore the architectural neighborhoods that are in abundance here! If you don't want to eat at their restaurant (but you should), there are so many options within walking distance. Their restaurant is dark, which can be initially jarring coming from that desert sunshine, but wait...sink into the vibe and enjoy your Spanish Basque dinner with a very good wine selection. The only very minor complaint that I did have was some of the vegetable dishes were a tad over sauced for my taste. The pools are heated. I swam at 7 am and never had to slowly acclimate to the water. There are always towels, the pool chairs are clean and there are attendants that come regularly to clean up after guests after they have left. The result? It is as though you are swimming in your pool at home, but have the advantage of a pool bar and lunch served! Don't you love it when French fries are perfect? They serve the perfect balance of healthy options and delicious burger or sandwiches. The pool glasses are not generic but change according to the drink served? No single use plastic...they have water decanters in the room and filtered water with glasses at the pool. Another perk. they serve a fabulous continental breakfast near the main pool. Fresh juice, good coffee, yogurt parfait and scrumptious (and still warm!) pastries. Again, so many seating options here. Sink into a couch or sit at the long table near the fireplace and get some work done on your computer. You feel like having coffee in your room? They have that covered as well. They even ground fresh coffee for you each day. The staff? All professional, friendly and genuine. Okay so so many positive right? And I am definitely returning because we are restoring a house there...but, the plumbing. It may have just been our room (and I hope it was), but there was a strong smell of sulfur in the small bathroom. It left a continuous stench in the room that lacked ventilation. While my husband showered, I had nowhere to get ready. Next to the bathroom there is a the cabinet by the closet. A mirror above it would've been a welcome addition. The bath products do smell good (not like cheap perfume, but rather organic products like Aesop). Yet that never quite masked that sulfur odor. Other than that, the room decor is a mix of mid century modern eclectic. The designer really did a good job with furnishings and linens. The overall impression that I have of the hotel is that the General Manager must really understand the hospitality business. Next time I am there, I plan to have a drink on their rooftop patio. The view of the mountain is outstanding!…
Everything about this hotel is done with great attention to detail. Not a new property, they worked with what they had and elevated it, making this property very satisfying to visit, think Chateau Marmont in the desert. The staff is abundant and very attentive, food at the pool bar is very good, as is their continental breakfast. The grounds have amazing native landscaping, the rooms are comfortable and very well decorated. Overall, you just want to lounge here and stay longer, which is exactly what this hotel should be striving for. As an old hotel, it is not without it's faults - doors and windows don't seal too well, a bit of a sulfur smell through the plumbing, but it doesn't take away from the overall experience. I would prefer to see their giant outdoor lawn replaced with something drought tolerant, and the drinking water by the pools could be iced, but these things are very minor (except the lawn...)…
I booked this hotel to celebrate my partners birthday and it absolutely exceeded my already high expectations! I requested early check in and was given complimentary early check in 2 hours early. Stayed in room 13 and it was everything I could ask for: spacious, hug bed, beautiful honor bar and a gorgeous view of the pool. The staff was very very kind and accommodating. I don’t think I’ve ever liked a hotel quite like this one, I will definitely be back!
My wife and I couldn’t have asked for a better experience at Villa Royale. While check in isn’t until later in the afternoon, we were able to hang by the pool and enjoy lunch before our room was ready. Villa Royale’s team was incredibly accommodating and helpful throughout our stay. Don’t forget to check out Del Rey, Villa Royale’s bar and restaurant during your time in Palm Springs whether or not you’re staying on the property. It was incredible. We will be back.
