A romantic retreat of eternal sunshine behind the gates, Ingleside began as an invitation-only estate for Hollywood's Golden Age. The most elegant, eclectic, and eccentric of the glamour-soaked set still relish the manicured privacy of 30 beautifully renovated garden rooms and suites. Now with a refreshing new taste for Melvyn's and preferred access to boutique Estrella Spa, the hideaway spirit is lively and serene as ever: at the foot of ruggedly beautiful Mt. San Jacinto…yet only a block from the ongoing scene of downtown's design district. That's Ingleside.

Ingleside Estate hotel is often celebrated for its nostalgic and tranquil atmosphere, evoking mid-century Palm Springs with its quaint charm. The pool area, while requiring some updates, is a highlight among guests who also appreciate the hotel's cleanliness and attention to detail. Despite its ideal location for dining and shopping, some guests feel the hotel is overpriced, particularly noting additional fees. While rooms receive mixed reviews, ranging from exquisite to cramped, the service is generally commended for being friendly and attentive, albeit occasionally slow.

Stellar resort and boutique hotel. Their sister hotel has a fitness center and additional restaurants. Great, vibrant scene at Melvyn's. Wonderful Piano Player. The rooms are large and very chic--part mid-century, and part med villa. Luxurious sheets and towels, robes, and great Davine's product. The staff is so gracious and accommodating--they honestly could not be more caring and considerate! Stay here--you will NOT regret it! Lovely, private, and quiet rooms and pool/hot tub area. Great breakfast in the morning. A real treat and refuge--can't wait to come back.

My partner and I spent 2 nights between Christmas and New Year’s at the Ingleside. Overall a relaxing stay made memorable by the warmth and hospitality of Tony who made sure we enjoyed ourselves to the fullest!

The standout of this property is definitely the grounds-well maintained, stylish, old Hollywood elegance, like you’re a guest at the Kaufman House in one of those photos from the era. The pool and hot tub are kept very warm. I was comfortable doing laps in the pool even in the mornings when the sun was not yet fully up and air temps were in the high 40s/low 50s. Pool was 85 degrees and hot tub was 95. Not too crowded, poolside bossa nova and jazz piped in (think Getz/Gilberto and Sara Vaughan), poolside service available although we didn’t use it. The Italian loungers are comfortable and shade you from the sun if that’s what you want. The surrounding garden is lush and very private.

The other standout is Tony who went out of his way to make us feel like special guests. He strikes up a conversation very naturally, and makes great suggestions of things to do without feeling too pushy. He helped us with rental bikes the first day, which were great; and there are a lot of fun places within quick biking distance. He told us about the history of the property and shared stories about other guests which were fun!

Only reasons for four and not five stars (and overall should not detract, this was a great stay, just if you want even better)…
-Our room did have a Mountain View as promised…but over a residential street with some construction. I wouldn’t describe it as a “view room”
-The first night I noticed the plumbing in the bathroom was noisy (and there was a bit of a smell). I suspect this was because our room was close to Melvyn’s. This was a Sunday night, did not notice it Monday night when I think the restaurant was either closed or not as busy. In any case…we let the front desk know and they sent someone right away, and we had no issue (noise or smell) after that.

Bottom line, this is a great place if you want a private and relaxing place to chill by the pool, and a great location to nearby venues. The staff especially Tony were also welcoming and fun. Next time I would upgrade to one of the rooms facing the interior courtyard or pool (not many of the latter) as I think the upgrade is probably worth it for a five start experience. We would stay again.

We arrived at the Inn for 4 nights in mid March (ahead of government advice not to travel). Clearly the circumstances were not usual though given the global pandemic, however, the manager couldn’t have been more welcoming, reassuring, and helpful and we felt safe inside our our beautiful room and also all around the property. The team we’re also so hard working all day every day - the gardener maintaining the grounds from early morning; the manager and Danny regularly sanitising the public areas and giving us helpful insight and information eg. dining options in the sister property; and the housekeeper rigorously cleaning every inch of our room. (Never have I been more delighted to smell the waft of bleach from our room as I saw housekeeping thoroughly mopping the floor.) The Inn is beautiful, relaxing, and in a fabulous location close to the restaurants and the airport in Palm Springs. We look forward to returning again in happier times.

Great little gem but a little surprised at the service. A frosty manager at the front desk but a lovely valet chap who went the extra mile ( excuse the pun ) rooms were dated but spacious. Wish there was a tub but I knew it wouldn’t have one before I booked.
Great pool and a lovely lady called Victoria made our first few hours there so special and made us feel very welcome. Then my husband and I go to the bar and the older lady who was our waitress wasn’t very friendly either.
The next morning we looked for somewhere to get coffee but to our surprise the only coffee available was in the check in area. No breakfast available only brunch from 11.30 and didn’t really enjoy the food but I would of loved to of tried something else like their famous chicken pot pie.
The server was very nice. This place has stopped in time and embraces old Hollywood and celebrates FrankSinatra a LOT. His album was played pretty loudly in the exterior of the restaurant.
I think if they improved the rooms a little and put a small bar by the pool and a system in place for servers to be able to call in orders rather than leave poolside and run back and forth to the kitchen every time someone orders a drink or a meal is very much needed. Dan who seems to wear many hats at this hotel was worked to death with no help so I hope they just had some unexpected staff shortage and did the best they could in that situation and this isn’t a bad managerial issue where they’re just taking advantage of their staff.
This is a very sweet place and I would go again to use their free bikes and take a ride or a walk along the busy very cute street near by. Such an incredible location. Well worth the visit but these are my picky issues that I’m sure could be easily resolved. My husband and I had a lovely time xx

Nice pool with deep end, comfortable loungers, shade umbrellas.
Complimentary use of well maintained cruiser bicycles.
Free parking.
Tony at the front desk is pleasant, and a great source for local information.
Historic inn, restaurant and lounge.
Daily housekeeping.

Problems:

1) No in room safes. Really? Why was this not included in the remodel? Had to lock valuables inside car.
2) No bedside accessible plug or USB port on one side of bed.
3). Bed headboard ripping out of wall.
4) Sofa in room stained.
5) In room minibars, water $8, soda $4 etc. Many stores are close by, within walkable distance.. Most guests would prefer an empty refrigerator.
6) No coffee or tea pods for in room coffee maker, only espresso pods.
7) Morning coffee service in lobby, but no tea available.
8) Non functional lock on gate leading to room.
9) Reused unsterilized manual room and gate keys supplied, with unhygienic leather key fob attached. Keys could be duplicated. Electronic room door and gate locks with key cards would be preferable in 2021.
10) No poolside music.
11) No poolside drink or food service. Why not? Loss of potential revenue.
12) Daily drip pricing "Wellness Fee" tacked onto final bill. When asked, I was told by the staff that the fee was a state of California requirement (not true) and was to cover employee health insurance. Your employees' health care should not depend on whether guests pay an additional fee.

I drove down to PS for a little pool side relaxation. I love Melvyns restaurant and have always wanted to stay at Fireside because it's a great location and it's old school Spanish style is one of my favorite's. The problem and it's a big problem, the hotel has NO management. The poolside scene was insanely un-safe with over 100 people in the pool, NO ONE wearing face masks. I asked to speak with the mange twice and he/she never showed. it's also hared to believe that they can't serve their guests coffee in the morning, you have to walk to their sister hotel. You're better off giving this place a miss until Melveyn's re-opens and just go there for dinner or drinks.

During Covid, my Husband and I were looking for a smaller hotel from our other getaway hotel from Los Angeles. This is what led us to our new home away from home, The Ingleside Inn. From the minute you check in, Frank Sinatra is softly playing on the stereo. Tony checked us in and was sure to give us the historical information of this property. We stayed in a premium room with a sunny private patio and Bougainvillea galore. The location makes it easy to go for a bike ride around the neighborhood or walk to dinner. Thank you for your hospitality Tony, Danny and Hannah. We are looking forward to seeing you again soon.

The Inn was very clean. The staff is incredibly helpful and the location makes for easy access to the downtown area. The jacuzzi is actually VERY hot but the pool is lightly heated. Masks required in all public areas.

We needed something on the fly in Palm Springs when we found this place, and weren’t disappointed. When we arrived, they helped us find a room quickly, and even managed to squeeze us into a Mountain View room; the whole check-I’m process took minutes, and the front desk clerk checked in once we were settled to make sure we had everything we needed. The grounds have a great, old-school style and the rooms look cool in a non-generic way. Great hotel, great staff, we’ll definitely be back.

I stayed here with my boyfriend for my birthday in a premium king room.

Pros: The room was a great size and overall very quiet. The hotel grounds are truly lovely and peaceful with gorgeous views. It feels very private and secluded. Parking as a hotel guest is free self parking and very easy. The location is amazing & a very pleasant 15 min walk into town for meals. The pool itself is small but relaxing in a picturesque setting. The pool server was also friendly and attentive.

Cons: When we stayed there the website specifically advertised that the pool at Ingleside was adults only, and this was a major factor in my choosing it. However, there were multiple kids in the pool during our stay. When I spoke to the front desk about it and even showed them their own website which explicitly stated the pool was adults only they told me I was wrong and treated me like I was a liar. The way the staff handled it was appalling and not the level of service you expect from a luxury boutique $$$ hotel, especially when their own website listed the information. It seems per their website that as of April 2022 it will in-fact be an adults only pool. I had a gift card for pool drinks/food and at checkout we realized the amount had been *added* not deducted from our bill. There were other issues on the bill at checkout as well. So triple check each line item to make sure you are not overcharged.

Another oddity- there was not a single hook anywhere in the entire bathroom or room. Meaning you had no place to hand your towel or a wet swimsuit. Just bizarre and an easy cheap thing to address and add.
