Friendly folks. Staff members Mash, Anthony and Diana are devoted to their work and are truly one of a kind. Service is top notch. Kids and adults love the pool. El Paseo is steps away. Fresh air and no elevators. Handicap accessible, quiet and feels like home. This is the ONLY place to stay if you are in Palm Desert. Big box hotels don’t even come close to the cleanliness, service or hospitality offered @Mojave. Planning a trip to the Coachella Valley? Make it Mojave!

Based on their write up, I was expecting a neat stay at a luxurious retro motel. Still felt that way cutting through a well kept courtyard with a pool and mature fauna. That ends when you walk in the room. Dirty carpeting, shabby furniture which needs refinishing, only 1 robe, shabby drapes. The wall ac unit is appropriately retro, but at least put in temp control units so they don’t have to run all night. The continental breakfast.. packaged sweet roll, cheap bagels, 2 cereals served in a room where the carpet seems to have been used in an auto repair shop. This place could yearly be cool if the owners put some money into it. Take a pass

After our original place didn't work out we wandered around look (its a residential area) for a place. Outside is less than exciting but it is well maintained so we tried. Mash was at the desk with a warm, friendly greeting and found us a room. The interior grounds are lovely, well lit. We had a small room but as much as we needed, good closet with robes, nice flat screen TV, desk/chair, 1 soft seat chair and table. King bed and night stands. Nothing fancy but very clean and the bed was very comfortable. A through the wall new A/C . Bathroom small with tub/shower , containers of self-serve toiletries. We were just off the pool but it was very quiet; outside our door a small seating area with 2 chairs and a table. Overall cute with a 40's feel. Light breakfast served in the moring- has good coffee!. We have already made plans to return on our next visit to PAlm Desert. Located very close to El Paseo and all the shops. Check-out as easy and nice as our check-in.

If you love old school, retro "Rat Pack" vibe, this is your place. For that matter, even if you don't like retro, this could still be your place for several reasons. Spotlessly clean, gorgeous pool and grounds, intimate front patio seating, stellar staff, attention to details(robes provided, wine glasses, poolside swim towels, etc.), close proximity to El Paseo restaurants and shops. We felf very secure behind a keyed security gate to prevent radom access from non guests. Additionally, Mojave Resort has a wonderful price point, particularly if you can book before the snowbirds arrive. We came for a girlfriend birthday get away and were blown away by this place. Our room, #18, was very spacious with a full kitchenette, even though we didn't need one. Only reason for less than 5 stars was a noisy wall air conditioning unit. One night we just turned it off and opened a window. Shout out to Mash, who upon checkout happily split the bill so we could each charge our half to our own card. We plan to return next year and make this our annual Palm Desert get away spot.

I preface this review by stating upfront that I’m a travel snob and wouldn’t normally stay in this type of hotel but we booked a Memorial Day weekend getaway 48 hours prior and there weren’t many properties still available. Let’s start with the positives - First, Mash, the manager, was so friendly, helpful and accommodating that he was a big part of the reason why I felt okay about booking Mojave Resort despite feeling a little tentative about the property. Likewise, the gentleman who was at the front desk when we check in after hours was kind and helpful. So, two big thumbs up for the two staff we met. Second, the location is indeed within a few mins walk to the heart of El Paseo so that was a big plus. It’s in a quiet residential neighborhood but within 5 mins easy stroll you are right in the heart of Palm Desert. Third, while the outside of the property is a little questionable (as in “uh oh, is this it?”) the layout and greenery within the property is quite sweet and quaint. We certainly appreciated the trees, grass, shrubs and flowers. Finally, the size of the room is comfortable for a family of four. My husband and I travelled with our 11-yr-old daughter and we were in Room 18, just off the jacuzzi, with 2 Queen beds and a kitchenette. Now, I feel obliged to correct the misleading description that is posted both on their website and here on TripAdvisor: “Indulgent suites” ... these are bare bones basic motel rooms. There is a kitchenette with a microwave, small fridge, stove and oven but there were no utensils, no kettle, no pots or pans and not even basic cleaning supplies so unless you’re planning on bringing your kitchen items with you, the kitchenette is pretty useless. There is a the most basic of basic coffee maker with a one cup capacity and condiments in a plastic package. We only got coffee the first day. The second day, we got none. There are Molton Brown amenities in the bathroom and that was nice although “indulgent” would be a stretch and a half. “Dreamy Beds” ... this is totally inaccurate and if you are like me, a good bed is one of the most important aspects of a good hotel room. These beds were not comfortable and mattresses were more like thick cot mattresses so if there is more than one of you in the bed, be prepared to experience every movement that either one of you makes. My husband woke up with a stiff neck this morning. My daughter and I brought our own pillow because I had a feeling the pillows would be spongey or lumpy. My husband thought we were being ridiculous but he ended up taking the pillows off the bed because they were so uncomfortable. “Reminiscent of the 1940s”... I can see that this is what they were going for and there is a fun vibe at the pool that invites you to chat with other guests and sip a cocktail or two but the rooms themselves feel a little too reminiscent of the past ... the carpet feels likes it’s been there for multiple decades and the fact that the bathroom sink area is also carpeted just felt gross underfoot. The air conditioning unit is one of those “vintage” items that is a giant box affixed to the wall that makes a ton of noise and fluctuates quite significantly in temperature sensing. We were either uncomfortably warm or almost frozen with not a lot of happy middle ground. The desk, table and dresser are your basic dormitory style pieces. So, according to the description we had one of the “luxurious rooms”. “All of our rooms feature television/ VCR with vintage video library, mini bars, and other refreshments ... and robes”. Maybe Room 18 is the exception but we were not aware of a VCR with our tv, not did we see or hear about a video library, there was a big space under the tv where perhaps a mini bar once was and the closet in the bathroom, covered by what appeared to be a shower curtain, was empty of any robes. In all fairness, I’d say this is a 2 star hotel or a 3 star motel, that gets extra points for the wonderful humans who work there but gets major points deducted for the excessively misleading description posted depicting a very different type of property than what you will actually experience here.
