Excellent Stay in the Hot Desert
Spent a weekend at this hotel as part of a "get out of town" from another trip in the Orange County area. This hotel was a great location to stay with good access to nearby restaurants and entertainment including casino's and Joshua Tree National Park. This review was completed during the Covid pandemic so many aspects of this hotel could change after the pandemic is over. Pros: a) Good Location b) Awesome staff c) Nice ambiance d) Close to (up-scale) shopping and restaurants e) Good jumping off spot to Joshua Tree Cons: a) Valet parking only, but plenty of free street parking out front b) Pool a bit small and crowded but at least was there to cool off in! c) Why do people think they can reserve chairs by the pool and then leave for the day? Overall was a great stay for the weekend, the only amenities that were not open due to Covid was the main restaurant and of course housekeeping is by reservation only as it is with most Marriott branded hotels in California. If you need extra bottles of water just hit up the housekeepers in the hall, they are more than happy to get you anything you need!

What a Great, Safe, Get Away
Hubby and I celebrated our anniversary by getting out of town (for the first time since March) and spending the weekend at Hotel Paseo. I was a little nervous about staying at a hotel and being out at restaurants during Covid. My nervousness was unfounded, and we had a wonderful weekend away. The hotel was super clean, ALL the staff wore masks, there was no daily maid service; so no one coming in or out of the room except us. They took lots of precautions including clean, sealed TV remotes, asking guests to not share elevator rides, and even cleaning things like the ping-pong paddles and putters between guests. There was plenty of room between lounges at the pool and the lobby's furniture was appropriately spaced. All of that made me feel safe. The hotel is a favorite of ours, and I'd missed it. The cool red Cadillac and beautiful Airstream set the vibe for a fun stay. Shout out to Neil for keeping my drinks by the pool coming. Love the hotel bikes too, we had fun cruising the area! The hotel is also right next to El Paseo shopping and I spent a day just enjoying wandering the stores, something I had not done in a long time. I also appreciated that the stores limited number of shoppers, and requested masks when in the store. I had so much fun that I am thinking this might be a great place to come mid-week with the kids, as distance learning can be done from any location, haha!
Thank you for the wonderful review 8bethd! We were excited to welcome you back to Hotel Paseo and we are even more grateful that you noticed the efforts we have put in place to create a safe environment for our valued guests and associates. We look forward to your return with the rest of the family as we would agree that the hotel would be a great venue for distance learning!

    Best Location
We had a top floor room with a view of the mountains, although if you looked down, you saw the second-story parking lot of a shopping area. The room was very quiet with a comfortable bed, enjoyable bathroom, coffee maker, and small refrigerator to store your own food. The front desk staff were always personable. The maid service, although good, was not perfect and needed some supervision. During the first morning I asked for help in using the coffee maker. Gary arrived right away and not only fixed the coffee maker, but went downstairs to get me a printed map. He was extremely helpful. There is a restaurant connected to the hotel that provided good food and a happy hour. The hotel is located next to Paseo Drive, a street filled with restaurants and stores; everything is in walking distance of the hotel.

We stayed here for the first night and were very impressed with the room (#360). It is a very well laid-out room tastefully decorated. It has a desk with USB ports, a small ‘fridge and a Keurig coffee maker. The king bed is very comfortable, and there is a sliding door to a small patio overlooking the pool and mountains. The bath is large with a very nice walk-in shower and LED lit vanity mirror. Check-in was fast & friendly. Note: If you arrive in a car, it is valet only parking. Also, the hotel restaurant is closed on Sunday nights.

Wanted to rate this 5* but had some 1* experiences. We have stayed here multiple times yet each time something (relatively minor) is amiss every time. The 5 star: great location right off El Paseo, funky hotel with sleek contemporary vibe (some may not like), rooms are calming and spartan yet equipped with basic needs - small ref’r/robes/very comfortable bed/comfy chair/Keurig coffee maker/great restaurant Larkspur Grill that had a fun Sinatra style music duo and very good food. The valet is fabulous - quick response to getting the car, helpful, nice attitude. The 1 star: there often are events here that seem to attract a young crowd that display no limit to drunkenness. Our first night we were “greeted” with drunk, yelling “kids” on our floor and hand to be very assertive with my voice to get them to stop. Alerted the front desk and either they did something or kids went back to their room and passed out. Other posts have referred to this. I can’t blame the hotel per se, but a heads up to anyone wanting a very quiet adult resort experience - you may or may not get it. TIP: do not rent a room on second floor above the restaurant! The 5 star/1 star: front desk was accommodating in moving us to another room just in case the “kids” were staying longer (5 star) but the front desk rep was pretty blasé about the reason- “people do make noise”. What?! Can a guest not reasonably expect a quiet experience? (1 star). A small nit - as others have posted, the bath floor tile grout really needs better cleaning. Off white grout was a mistake as it shows all the grime. A thorough bleach clean please. Short story: great location and services, and if you like crisp and funky - this is your place. If you want true resort quiet - it might be hit and miss. I’ll be back, hoping for a hit.

Beautiful, modern, funky hotel MB status recognised & upgraded to lovely Exec suite Very nice checkin & checkout with Michael issue of $10 x 4 MB vouchers due to no breakfast facility in summer Fabulously comfy bed, double sinks, huge walk-in shower Shaded balcony which was great for early morning coffee Lounge cafe served very tasty breakfast sandwich Resort fee info on card & included courtesy shuttle & valet parking Beautiful pool area with hot tub & decent bar serving great cocktails Really quiet which was nice as it’s too hot for most in PD Located in a great area of Palm Desert with good dining options within walking distance Can’t express how good this place is. So good that we are changing our plans to stop off & stay another 2 nights on our return journey to LA. Thank you for a very memorable stay.

I had a nice stay there at the start of summer. Our bed was fantastic and the bar and restaurant was so perfect that we ended up eating every meal there (service was on point). The guys at the pool bar where really nice and there was fresh towels out every day. Only problem was the oily scum covered tile on the pool. We got here on a Fri. and stayed the weekend and the tile was covered with suntan oil and sunscreen on Fri. and stayed that way throughout the weekend. Honestly looked like an oil tanker wrecked in the pool as there was that much oil scum on the tiles. This is honestly unacceptable for any Marriott location. My wife wouldn't even get into the pool. On a positive note, my wife said the massage was excellent and the spa was very nice. One more thing....Told us "No Room Service" (Twice) even though we informed them that it said they have room service on the website.

Greetings from sunny Palm Desert Doug N B, Thank you for allowing the team at Hotel PASEO the privilege of being at your service during your recent travels into the Greater Palm Springs area. At our hotel we believe the most expeditious means of improving the quality of service and product that we provide to our guests is through their direct feedback, be it good, bad, or indifferent, we view feedback as a gift. I am very glad to hear that you found nearly all aspects of your visit with us to be enjoyable and I am particularly happy to see that you found our restaurants to be so enjoyable that you chose to dine at them for each meal while you were in the area, that is very flattering. Please accept my most sincere apologies for the cleanliness of our pool not being maintained at a higher level while you were visiting us. I will review this feedback with our director of engineering to ensure the necessary procedures are in place and being reviewed to ensure a similar breakdown does not occur during your future visits. I thank you once again for taking the time to provide this feedback to us and look forward to having the opportunity to welcome you back to our beautiful hotel again in the future. With kind regards, Michael Murray General Manager

Greetings from sunny Palm Desert X3829VJam, Thank you for allowing Hotel PASEO to serve as your home away from home during your recent travels to the Greater Palm Springs area. More importantly, thank you for taking the time to share your feedback with us regarding your most recent stay experience. I am sorry that you found our Destination Fee to be a "Trick" - this fee, along with all of the value it offers and includes, is very clearly advertised and specifically called out when booking reservations at our hotel through our brand website. I am very glad to hear that you enjoyed our location and found both the restaurant and bar to be enjoyable. I will share your feedback regarding the stains on the carpet in your room with our Housekeeping leadership to ensure this is addressed and our inspection processes evaluated to ensure items such as this are caught and addressed prior to a room being noted as guest ready. I look forward to welcoming you back to our beautiful hotel again the next time you find yourself traveling into the area. With kind regards, Michael Murray General Manager

That was my first ever stay in a hotel which ended by checking out the same night I checked in. The major problem was a restaurant attached which had an extremely loud live country music performance that continued even after 10:00 pm. The music was so loud that the room walls were shaking and I can’t even hear sound from the TV. I complained to the receptionist Michael (who looks a bit drunk), but he told me he can nothing do about that since he not belonged to the restaurant (in the hotel he works for). There were also many drunk people on the property. I saw some dead drunk girl who can’t help herself to enter her room. It looks like the hotel is in the process of making a weird pivot to some cheap Vegas country-style nightclub. What a shame and a waste of time and money…

Greetings from sunny Palm Desert nikopopoff, Thank you for selecting Hotel PASEO to be your home away from home during your recent travels into the greater Palm Springs area. More importantly, thank you for taking the time to share feedback with us and the many Tripadvisor users about your recent experieince at our hotel. I am terribly sorry to hear that our team failed to alert you to the live entertainment we were having in our restaurant the evening of your reservation and that they did not confirm whether this might be an impact to your stay experieince or work to find you a more suitable room location where the music would not be perceptible to you. Ensuring our guests are able to get the most out of their experieince is critically important to us and I am very sorry that we were unable to provide you with an enjoyable environment. I will review your feedback with our Front Office leadership and work to ensure that the correct practices are in place that will prevent similar noise-related experieince breakdowns from occurring in the future. I genuinely hope you will consider staying with us again the next time your travels bring you into the area and allow us the opportunity to earn your loyalty back to our hotel. With kind regards, Michael Murray General Manager

We have stayed here 5-6 times over the last few years and there are always issue of some sort. This time the Valet people lost our car keys and caused us to be 45 minutes late for our event. We also had a crappy housekeeper who left our dirty glasses on the bathroom counter right in front of the sink-unbelievable. We were here over Stagecoach week and weekend so the pool was busy but for some reason they thought a DJ cranking loud, obnoxious Vegas style music would be a good addition. It wasn't. The rooms are small, but some have decks, there is a refrigerator in the rooms which is nice, and the rooms had robes, which was nice, but no complimentary slippers. The restaurant attached is very good although attracts an older crowd in the evening. One highlight is the poolside California Club Sandwich-best ever! The location is great, but there are a few things that need improving such has the pool towels. Small, thin, and ready to be sold to the Holiday Inn. Seriously, they have a decent pool, so spring for some decent pool towels. Also, the Keurig coffee machines in the rooms MUST GO! The coffee tastes like dishwater. Buck-up and spring for Nespresso machines. The Bottom line is this hotel could be so much better.

Excellent location with every kind of boutique, restaurants, shops, cafes and services in walking distance. The hotel is very comfortable, offers a wide range of services and a pool side bar and food service with a full service restaurant out front. Valet parking which was very helpful. Service is excellent as this is a Bonvoy property. We stayed for five nights and really enjoyed the hotel and area. The way the hotel is configured our balcony did not get morning or afternoon sun (avoid rm 250 poolside corridor if you want direct sun) and that was the only thing slightly negative.

We loved our four nights at the Hotel Paseo. The location is perfect, adjacent to El Paseo shopping and dining. Comfy bed and good amenities. It's very clean (except the conference room bathrooms could use some deep cleaning). Nice pool and spa. The drinks were tasty, but the bartender had never made a strawberry daiquiri (!). The elevators are extremely slow. Unfortunately, it's not Marriott app integrated, so you don't get a digital key or app checkout.
