Cons: not enough parking spaces to accommodate each guest (hotel was full during my stay). Complimentary brown bagged “breakfast” consisted of one cheap danish, a badly bruised apple and a breakfast bar. Room had a coffee maker but the prepackaged coffee was terrible. The front office had a coffee machine with many selections, however.
I took my mom to Monterey for her birthday. At first they put us in room 110, which was at the bottom of the stairwell. People using the stairs could see into our room and we could hear folks walking up and down the stairs, we also had cars headlights shining into our room, and could clearly hear the family staying in the room above us. needless to say, we barely slept. THANKFULLY they swapped our room the next day to room 212 and it was night and day. The second room was so much quieter and we didn't have any trouble keeping our room dark at night.
The parking lot wasn't big but we never had trouble finding parking. It was a plus that free parking was offered, and some breakfast options. The breakfast was sufficient to start the day (self made waffles, toast, yogurt, coffee, juice, oatmeal packets), but I was dissapointed that there were no eggs.
There are some tables and chairs outside that looked comfortable but it was too cold for us to go outside. The place was passable, I felt like I was in a private room in a hostel. I probably wouldn't stay there again unless I knew that I could stay on the second floor and I got a good deal on the room.
Something curious though, I was charged $226 before ever arriving at the hotel and charged an extra $50 deposit when I checked in and paid for my room. It has been a week since we stayed there and I still haven't gotten that money back...
Room tip: if you're a big family, rooms 212 (2 QBs) and 214 (1 QB) can connect and there is a kitchen with a dining table between them! I thought that was the coolest part of the whole motel. Truthfully though, the next time I go to Momnterey I would probably stay somewhere else.
Today I’m supposed to arrive & finally gave up & called Customer Services. They said they can’t cancel the hotel can & transferred me without telling me they were transferring me. I talked to the guy at the hotel. I will be charged $77 for the first night but the second can be cancelled. I thought that was total crap but whatever. He said he can’t cancel it I needed to call Customer Service. I called them back & they said only the hotel can cancel it. Finally I called the hotel directly & the guy said he will tell his manager but I will still be charged for $77.
I am not sure why I will still be charged considering NO ONE can cancel this damn reservation! I will update this if I am not charged.
At this point I would not recommend this place & certainly will never consider this or any other Clarion in the future.
. When I called, she picked up both times and was willing to accommodate us by letting us check in early at 2pm because we needed to be at a nearby wedding at 3pm. The check in and check out process was quick and she explained everything we needed to know. We stayed on the 2nd floor with a room that had a king bed. The room was big and there was plenty of space and full size mirrors on the closet to get ready for the wedding, the water pressure and temperature of the shower was nice, and the kind size bed was comfortable and the sheets were soft. We did not hear any noises from any neighbors and there was plenty of parking parking at the motel. The surrounding neighborhood was quiet one and we drove by a couple on deer..
We didn't eat breakfast there because we wanted to eat at Winston's. The location is conveniently close to a lot of great brunch spots (including Winstons, only a 3 min drive) and touristy spots like a 3 minute drive from asilomar conference grounds or close to the aquarium and cannery row but far enough where it is quiet at night. I'd def recommend my friends or family to stay here especially since it's also afforable
But the worst was the shower water pressure. They are trying to save my putting in low water pressure shower heads but do not realize that instead of 5 minutes in the shower, guests will spend 30 minutes when you have very little water falling on your body to remove the soap. Not coming back here.
