Pros: Room was clean on arrival. Bed was comfortable (one queen, no sags or lumps). Quiet ambiance. Bedroom had wooden shutters over the windows providing good room darkening and privacy. Windows opened and closed easily. Room included a compact fridge.

Cons: not enough parking spaces to accommodate each guest (hotel was full during my stay). Complimentary brown bagged “breakfast” consisted of one cheap danish, a badly bruised apple and a breakfast bar. Room had a coffee maker but the prepackaged coffee was terrible. The front office had a coffee machine with many selections, however.

Dear guest, Thank you for the positive rating. Your comfort and satisfaction are of the utmost importance to us, and we truly value your feedback. By telling us what you liked about your stay and how we can improve, you are helping us deliver a superior experience for you and other guests in the future. We are glad that you found the room clean, the bed comfortable, and the ambiance peaceful, and it's nice to read that the wooden shutters offered you the desired room darkening and privacy. We also hope the room amenities were convenient for you. We apologize for the disappointment you describe with our bagged breakfast offering and prepackaged coffee, and we appreciate the opportunity to improve future guest satisfaction. Your comment about parking is duly noted. Parking is a significant concern in the city due to space constraints. Nevertheless, we do provide convenient parking for our guests and try our best to accommodate all our guests for this facility. We would dearly love to have more parking available for our visitors, but, unfortunately, space around our property is very much at a premium. We are sorry for the inconvenience caused to you by our limited parking area. We trust that the positives of your stay outweighed the downsides, and we hope to welcome you back when you return to Pacific Grove. Best Regards, Ray, Customer Care Team

I like the location on light house way, a little bit away from the touristy spots but still a super short driving distance to Lover's Point, the aquarium, and Fisherman's Wharf. The hotels in the area are all of the motel type, or in slight disrepair because they are on the seaside.

I took my mom to Monterey for her birthday. At first they put us in room 110, which was at the bottom of the stairwell. People using the stairs could see into our room and we could hear folks walking up and down the stairs, we also had cars headlights shining into our room, and could clearly hear the family staying in the room above us. needless to say, we barely slept. THANKFULLY they swapped our room the next day to room 212 and it was night and day. The second room was so much quieter and we didn't have any trouble keeping our room dark at night.

The parking lot wasn't big but we never had trouble finding parking. It was a plus that free parking was offered, and some breakfast options. The breakfast was sufficient to start the day (self made waffles, toast, yogurt, coffee, juice, oatmeal packets), but I was dissapointed that there were no eggs.

There are some tables and chairs outside that looked comfortable but it was too cold for us to go outside. The place was passable, I felt like I was in a private room in a hostel. I probably wouldn't stay there again unless I knew that I could stay on the second floor and I got a good deal on the room.

Something curious though, I was charged $226 before ever arriving at the hotel and charged an extra $50 deposit when I checked in and paid for my room. It has been a week since we stayed there and I still haven't gotten that money back...

Room tip: if you're a big family, rooms 212 (2 QBs) and 214 (1 QB) can connect and there is a kitchen with a dining table between them! I thought that was the coolest part of the whole motel. Truthfully though, the next time I go to Momnterey I would probably stay somewhere else.

We spent a week in this place recently. It would have been a shorter visit but they wanted a fee for canceling our reservation. This place advertises that it is friendly and a romantic place to stay. Neither is true. The clerks at the desk were curt and brusque and not friendly. There was nothing romantic about this place, either. The bed was miserable. It was a box springs type mattress. Who still uses those. At least a pillow top would have been a step up but no. My shoulders and back still ache as a result of a week on the lousy mattress. The room, though remodeled at some point, is in need of paint and repair. The exterior of the hotel has been repainted but the paint is still tacky. The roof of the room off the lobby where you were expected to eat breakfast leaked badly and the water on the floor sat untouched until it dried up on its own. That didn’t really matter to us as we didn’t bother to eat breakfast there as the food offerings were all old and stale. Our room was not serviced three of the days we stayed so the bed was not made and towels not replaced and trash not taken away. This is supposed to be a Clarion Hotel, the top of the line Choice Collection. It makes you wonder if Choice ever inspects their properties.

I have tried for 3 days to cancel online. I booked 2 nights & after having a bad experience at a Quality Inn in Sacramento on Jibboom I decided I can’t stay at anything less than a Comfort Inn.

Today I’m supposed to arrive & finally gave up & called Customer Services. They said they can’t cancel the hotel can & transferred me without telling me they were transferring me. I talked to the guy at the hotel. I will be charged $77 for the first night but the second can be cancelled. I thought that was total crap but whatever. He said he can’t cancel it I needed to call Customer Service. I called them back & they said only the hotel can cancel it. Finally I called the hotel directly & the guy said he will tell his manager but I will still be charged for $77.

I am not sure why I will still be charged considering NO ONE can cancel this damn reservation! I will update this if I am not charged.

At this point I would not recommend this place & certainly will never consider this or any other Clarion in the future.

Over 3 days, they didn't even pick up the big pile of towels that the room next to us in the hall. there was never anyone at the desk and the breakfast was out in the lobby 24 hours a day - it was so old nobody even wanted to eat it

We brought our electric bikes and got a lower lever room with no issues to bring them in at night. The fridge and microwave were perfect. The bed was so comfortable we totally passed out. I was going to stay at Olympia Lodge and glad I cancelled. I don't need a fancy breakfast with Covid going on I know it is hard. It appears it is a family business I like that much better. I told Mike we would stay there again because it was so comfortable and not uptight and no noise at all. Plus it was really cool to see the deer and just chill. I would highly recommend.

My husband and I enjoyed our one night stay and would definitely go back. The lady who helped us over the phone and at the front desk was friendly and professional
. When I called, she picked up both times and was willing to accommodate us by letting us check in early at 2pm because we needed to be at a nearby wedding at 3pm. The check in and check out process was quick and she explained everything we needed to know. We stayed on the 2nd floor with a room that had a king bed. The room was big and there was plenty of space and full size mirrors on the closet to get ready for the wedding, the water pressure and temperature of the shower was nice, and the kind size bed was comfortable and the sheets were soft. We did not hear any noises from any neighbors and there was plenty of parking parking at the motel. The surrounding neighborhood was quiet one and we drove by a couple on deer..
We didn't eat breakfast there because we wanted to eat at Winston's. The location is conveniently close to a lot of great brunch spots (including Winstons, only a 3 min drive) and touristy spots like a 3 minute drive from asilomar conference grounds or close to the aquarium and cannery row but far enough where it is quiet at night. I'd def recommend my friends or family to stay here especially since it's also afforable

The location is nice and quiet. Parking is tight. Room was an average motel. Breakfast was very cheap and meagre, one look and we decided to go somewhere else in town.
But the worst was the shower water pressure. They are trying to save my putting in low water pressure shower heads but do not realize that instead of 5 minutes in the shower, guests will spend 30 minutes when you have very little water falling on your body to remove the soap. Not coming back here.

Nice room at the quieter part of Lighthouse Ave. Close to downtown and gate to 17 mile drive as well as the Ocean Front Drive along the bay. Property is well maintained. The only downside was there is no indoor seating for breakfast. We took ours to the room which was OK, but I would suggest to management to provide trays so the food can be transported in one or two trips instead of several trips up and down the stairs.
