We gave it 5 💥💥💥💥💥 Because the Quality of the accommodations and little things like an ICE MACHINE NOT an ice dispenser. Great coffee easy to load and unload. Very close to all we were going to see. Internet + tv were very strong. Excellent Mattress + sheets and comforter .
Our stay was a quick visit to the area. The property sits right on Lighthouse which was a few minutes away from downtown Monterey. The room itself was tidy, clean and met our needs for the night. We had an updated room and bathroom! The bed and side tables seemed up to date with plugs on the table lamp for our phones. The room came with a microwave and fridge as well as an office table. The bathroom was updated and large! The property served a simple breakfast inside the office. Waffles, packaged danish, yogurt, fruits and bead. Milk, oJ and coffee were also served. We sat outside and ate our breakfast! Not bad for a quick getaway!
This hotel is a major disappointment and I can tell that it is because of poor management. The manager at this location seems to feel so secure in her position that she is unwilling to do her job. The hotel itself needs major matinence, the bathroom reeked of mold and the beds should have been thrown out eons ago. Despite the obvious issues I attempted to give this place a chance only to end up getting screwed by management because they refused to cancel my remaining nights in the hotel. When I looked the manager in the face and asked her "Are you really going to charge me for a room I'm not going to be in?" She just shrugged her shoulders and rolled her eyes. Thank goodness my credit card company had my back and put a stop to the charges. I deeply hope that the manager here is soon to be unemployed because it is a disgrace to have such a roach motel staining the otherwise beautiful town of Pacific Grove. May the rest of the managers days at this location be miserable!…
We will not return to this property on our next trip to Pacific Grove. In our opinion, the only thing going for this property is its location on Lighthouse Ave. Our room was definitely in need of a renovation. The mattress did not allow for a good nights sleep. And the breakfast options were very, very limited. We choose to skip it on each of our 3 nights stay.
This hotel has a great location and the room was fine, but the complimentary breakfast wasn't available until 7:30 and there was no coffee! It's hard to believe, but management didn't seem to think it was any big deal, stating simply that the machine was broken. Unbelievable!!
Began maid service at 7:30 AM in other rooms and yet after returning from ATT tourney, room was not serviced by evening. Women at desk made a nonsense excuse and told me to bring down garbage and gave only 2 towels. Seemed annoyed. We were staying two nights. This was in addition to poor plumbing in shower that shrilled throughout. These owners are running this hotel into the ground. Two nights, no maid service, plumbing problems that need to be addressed, poor breakfast….and annoyed that I was upset room not serviced. Already guided two other families away from this place.
One of the WORST places I have stayed. "Snarly" front desk, room was DARK and DIRTY, Plaster failing, Mould in bath room.. paint chipping .. Beds were lumpy and sheets were stratchy. I was sure bugs were crawling over me. We checked out after 1 night and they REFUSED to refund our $$$ even under these unacceptable accommodations.. NEVER GO HERE!
The location is nice and quiet. Parking is tight. Room was an average motel. Breakfast was very cheap and meagre, one look and we decided to go somewhere else in town. But the worst was the shower water pressure. They are trying to save my putting in low water pressure shower heads but do not realize that instead of 5 minutes in the shower, guests will spend 30 minutes when you have very little water falling on your body to remove the soap. Not coming back here.
Being a Choice Gold/Platinum member I have stayed at many Comfort Suites, Clarion, Ascend collection resorts and hotels through out the U.S. Their Ascent collection is their highest level of quality cleanliness and service, so I often pay a little more to stay at their Ascend collection hotels. The Good: Location is great to walk to the historic Pinos Point, Lovers Point, Asilomar Beach, 17 Mile Drive, Pacfic Grove Golf Course, and short walk to dozens of restaurants, museums, and events in downtown Pacific Grove. The room was freshly painted and the carpet was in good condition. The location surrounding the hotel has historical Victorian style homes dating as far back as 1880’s and craftsman style homes from the 1900-1920’s. Most are well kept and on the historical tour map. Really cool if you love old homes. The Bad: Upon arriving I asked for the 2nd floor or higher as noted on my standard reservation request for all Choice Hotels booked months prior. The lady at the front desk said no. As we drove up we noticed a sitting area with a fire pit, so we went out and bought wine, cheese and crackers in anticipation of sitting next to a warm gas fire. I went in to ask if it can be lite the front desk lady told me no and that it didn't work. I mumbled my displeasure as politely as I could. So we sat outside as the cold night fog eventually forced us back into our room. The Ugly: As we went into our very small room we noticed immediately that the room floor slanted down and not level. Being an old building this is common, but pretty bad @ about a 2-3% slope. As we walked down our 2% ramp to enter the bathroom we noticed patches on the dry wall, mold & mildew on the grout in the tub shower, and rotted and mildewed subfloor and grout below the tub. The desk was warped and damage and the bedside table was worn out and damaged. See pics. We got a good laugh out of it. The next morning as with all Choice hotels they claim to offer breakfast. Their continental breakfast area is in the small lobby of the hotel and includes dry cereal, yogurt, coffee, waffle maker, toast and muffins. Very basic. The next morning we walked down town and had breakfast at Toasties. Much better. Worse was that the heater or AC did hot work or was unplugged, so you had to use a celing fan above the bed if you were warm. As you gather your items from the continental breakfast you realize that there is no place to sit inside and notice 2 very small black metal mesh tables in a patio like room that is not fully enclosed allowing the cold air in. Seems more like camping, which Pacfic Grove was known as a summer camping resort for a Methodist church groups in the 1880's Overall: This small very old motel has a great location, but more of the Econolodge level than an Ascend collection level that I am used to. The sheets and towels are clean, the shampoo and toiletries are standard, but owners/managers are too cheap to upgrade the place to true Ascend standards. Unfortunately I do not plan to stay here again in this life time.…
We stayed here for 3 nights during the concourse - It was $1,350 When we got there they informed us that there was no maid service because of COVID- they did not clean the room. Over 3 days, they didn't even pick up the big pile of towels that the room next to us in the hall. there was never anyone at the desk and the breakfast was out in the lobby 24 hours a day - it was so old nobody even wanted to eat it
