Our 2017 visit (room 441, two queens, 2nd floor) was quite pleasant and upbeat. Our April 2024 visit (room 421, two-room cottage) was not a good experience. Much in the room is tired and not maintained. The room layout is awkward and inconvenient. The hot tub was so over-treated that it stained our swimsuits and toenails (blue-green). The staff were OK, but we won't be back.

Visited Carmel over the holidays and stayed at this inn. I booked only a couple weeks before and it was one of the more affordable options in the area. it was reliable, efficient and close to everything. I had a great time in Carmel and would recommend this hotel. Rooms were clean comfortable and functional. Front desk was attentive and eager to chat about activities and recommendations. Plus free coffee

Beds & pillows were awful, I found a huge clump of hair in the sheets. We had 6 guest & they never left 6 towels Wow had to walk to lobby to get towels each day. Shower drain was clogged. They did not leave extra roll of toilet paper ( with 6 people? They charged additional $ for 3 people )& after calling after hours phone # 3 times, no answer, my husband had to go buy Toilet paper at 7:30AM. Extremely unpleasant experience, especially for $$ paid!

I came into town for a spontaneous weekend getaway and couldn’t have picked a better destination and hotel! Pacific Grove had so many hidden gems that I got to enjoy while I was there and the location of the Monterey Peninsula Inn was perfectly located near everything. I highly recommend checking the monarch sanctuary that’s located just 1 block away from the hotel. The ocean and lighthouse were also just a few blocks down away! The staff at the hotel were all very friendly and provided great recommendations of what to do and where to eat. The room was spacious, newly furnished, and very clean. I would definitely recommend this hotel and look forward to staying here again next time I’m town!

Just spent 3 nights here. Room 405 was perfect for us because it had a separate bedroom with a tv (perfect for insomniacs). The place is a little dated but it was clean and everything worked. WiFi and TV reception were good. The guys in the office were friendly and helpful. The only negative was the pillows. Bring your own!

The property seems ok - clean, updated but smallish rooms. The issue with WiFi is that 1) it has poor signal and 2) they have slow speed. They need to simply add extenders around the property and boost internet speed. I ran a speed test from room 422 and got poor signal and slow speed. $100 in extenders and $10 more per month in speed will help quite a bit. Not a bad investment that will raise poor reviews on TripAdvisor and yelp.

The room is clean, but very small, compared to the pictures online. They might have taken the pictures from outside the window to show bigger. It will do for two nights, but I wouldn’t recommend it. There are other alternatives. Very dark and old. The queenbed is not very comfortable.

Another great stay in Pacific Grove! Love the location, staff, wildlife and the accommodations! Our room was great, we usually stay in the studio with the kitchen and a fireplace. The kids love the hot tub and we love to sit by the firepit and have a glass of wine. Everyone at the front desk offers great advice on things to do and eat. The location is so close to the ocean and town. Such a quaint spot we come back time and time again! We love the Monterey Peninsula Inn!!!

The inn was clean and located close to the ocean however it was expensive compared to other places. We booked for 5 nights and asked if we could check out one day early due to a call from the surgical vet having a cancellation for our dog on our last day there. We had been on a cancellation list due to his broken leg that needed surgery. Apparently, there was no empathy for our dog in pain because I was told I still had to pay for that night. Seems quite greedy to me. The room was adequate however it was an extremely small room. Only room for one person to walk between the bed and the cabinet that held the microwave. Also, at the time we booked this 6 months ago it said breakfast included and that had apparently changed because there was no breakfast.

Excellent location - walking distance 15 min to town, beach, golf, etc! Clean rooms and comfortable beds. Excellent jacuzzi and fire pit. Room with private patio is great with a dog guest or space for hanging out! Nice front desk folks too, check out the friendly bird friends too :)
