Detailed Reviews
We stayed at the Olympic Valley Inn, Sunday, 10/11 - 10/18, located close to Lake Tahoe, CA. It was a beautiful place to stay! We didn't want to be in town and this place was perfect for that. And yet we weren't that far from town. We hated to leave when the time came. We would stay here again in a heart beat! Recommend this place highly!

Stayed here because I wanted to be close to the ski resort. They have a very nice shuttle to the base of squaw, or you can walk the 1/3 mile with your gear.
Rooms are older and I found them noisy. Price for coming over Xmas holiday was not cheap but better than the other options in area.

Awful experience with this team. We had to change our booking so we called with 5 days notice to see what our options were. We were told we couldn't cancel without paying the full amount of $1371 and we couldn't change the dates without canceling....which is an impossible situation. They said they could possibly process a refund but they'd have to have their revenue team approve it (for booking.com's sake) so they'd get in touch with them and call us back.
They never called us back so we called again, and again. They kept saying they just needed a response from their Revenue team in order to cancel or change dates. We were never allowed to speak to anyone who could actually help us change the dates or cancel the reservation without paying the full amount. Keep in mind this is in a really busy week. They could have easily had us pay half and then rebooked and made 50% more than usual. So they don't even operate as a good business.
I spent about 2 hours total on the phone being led around and ultimately they just told me to take a hike. Bizarre from a hotel who presumably wants repeat customers. We even left a review which they responded to claiming they would resolve the issue. The resolution? They kept the money and wouldn't even give us new dates. It might be a nice place to stay but it's run like a scam.
Side note - it's not even a great location for the money. Stay at the Palisades Lodge for around the same price and you can ski to your door.

It appears that all the rooms are 1 BR, 1 bath with fold out sofa and after learning that it was built to be a dorm for the 1960 Olympic games athletes, the layout makes perfect sense. The room was clean, a bit dated but well maintained. If you want posh, this isn't it but in my mind the location and amenities make up for a little dated interiors. The staff were very helpful and friendly. We used the heated pool, the hot tubs, ping pong, nature hike to the falls, bikes and I enjoyed hanging out on the deck overlooking their park-like area. It is a short walk to Olympic Village skiing and several restaurants and shops. From there you can take the tram to the top for magnificent views of the area.

Resort was like a Swiss chalet at the base of a spectacular mountain, incredible view out our front balcony. (Rear balcony to room overlooked the resort itself and the ski resort, and it was beautiful.) We were there the last weekend before things actually open up for their summer season, so the resort was "transitioning" but it didn't affect us at all. The very friendly employees were busy doing their work without any bother to us. Beautiful grounds, three hammocks spread out in different areas, pool was well cared for, cicada sounds with the windows open each night! All the rooms only have one bed (which I didn't realize) but the front desk told me that guests had often remarked about how comfortable the sofa bed was. And it was!! Really easy to operate. The employees were super friendly and helpful. While we were there, they had several activities- craft class, "happy hour" by the pool, etc. Loved the Inn but not much was open in Truckee or Tahoe City, which made it a little difficult to find food! Lake Tahoe is the bluest lake I've ever seen, we absolutely loved our week there.

The folks at Olympic Village resort told us to contact REI concerning having to cancel our Aug 29 - Sept 5 vacation because of unhealthful air and imminent fire danger. I am trying to find out on-line but I can't to see what I got for paying $89 for trading Protection Fee. With all of the cancelations due to fires, etc, I had hoped to find info links to this right up front. I am sure it is me. Is there anything I can do?

Beautiful place, grounds and rooms are clean. Recommend second floor, which is a lot more private. There is an elevator. Bell carts are available for self use. Parking is free and abundant. Hammocks and yard games are available. There is a nice relaxing fountain and a small pond in the area near the balconies, which is very relaxing to listen to. Free bike usage for mostly level paved two-way bike path that goes all the way to South Lake Tahoe. We were here during the Dixie fie and the Caldor fire, limiting what we could do, but this was no fault of the resort. Other activities they have are a ceramic painting class and a mosaics class, which were fun. We have been here several times, and will continue to come back, but maybe change the time of year to spring instead of during fire season.

We really liked the layout. There was a Jack and Jill bathroom between the living room (with queen pullout couch) and bedroom so we had a door to shut on each side for privacy. I liked the balconies. The kitchen was well equipped. The staff was very friendly. We loved the free bike rentals and nearby hiking trails. The only downside is there is a lot of construction on the property this summer. It got more and more difficult to get to the pool and use the amenities. There is also no restaurant or market onsite but it is a close walk to the shops and restaurants in the rest of Olympic Village.

We needed to use RCI points we had saved with them, but have been unable to book anything on the website within our timeframe(s). We had to call to get help. Amazingly, the agent found the Olympic Village Inn for us (which did NOT appear on the website). We were thrilled because it was located in the Lake Tahoe Area. HOWEVER, AFTER booking, we received an email apologizing for the construction going on at the site!! Had we known this was the case, we wouldn't have booked it. But, the staff was very friendly, helpful, and as accommodating as they could be. We did like the resort and the location of it in the Olympic Valley, and would like to return again AFTER the construction is complete.

Resort its very comfortable. its not fancy but cozy during the winter time. Scenery its breathtaking. The room has a kitchenette and all the utensils necessary to cook. During our stay not many restaurants were open. It was ok with us because we took our own food.

What is available in the full kitchen area by the pool? (I.e fridge/freezer/ovens/kitchen utensils?)
By the pool ? They have BBQ tools & grills near the pool to my knowledge . We had a kitchenette in our room
.
Sorry for the delayed response- but yes there are weights in fitness room. It’s not large, but rarely crowded
No, we’re sorry it isn’t. As a private timeshare resort the owners have decided that it should be pet-free.
"Go to Palisades Lodge or the place in the village itself. Far better people running those operations. At least in my experience."Read full review
