#1 of 2 Specialty lodging in Old Station
We have 12 cabins along with camping and dry camping RV sites on a beautiful 15 acre property right across the street from Hat Creek. Our location is 14 miles from Lassen National Park and 27 miles to Burney Falls. 8 of our cabins were built in the 1940's, they are accommodated with a full kitchen, bedroom(s), and bathroom. The history of "Rim Rock Ranch" and Old Station is amazing and we do our best to preserve the cabins and land. Gordon's Rim Rock Ranch Country Store is also located on the property, which is stocked with a variety of grocery items, ice, beer & wine, souvenirs, and much more.

I got married here! The experience was lovely. Loved Cabin A and all my wedding guests loved their stay as well. The cabins were clean and well stoked for any basic kitchen need one might have. The property is very well maintained and I felt the love and pride out into the grounds and cabins. The Gordons were very helpful, kinds, and courteous. Between the games, play area and fishing, there is something for everyone. Definitely will visit again. If you want a home away from home, This is the place to go! I highly recommend!

The property is inviting. There is a trout pond, horse shoes, tether ball and corn hole game. The cabins are cute, but sadly in disrepair. When we arrived all of the windows in our cabin were open, even the one's without screens. The side door was open but the accompanying screen door had a very visible gap of at least two inches between the door and the door jam. We were awoken in the middle of the night by loud scratching sounds. It appeared that the kitchen was infested with mice or possibly rats. The unwelcomed inhabitant(s) were so loud that we finally ended up sleeping in our car. We checked out in the morning, but the manager was unapologetic and insisted on billing us for a second night apparently expecting us to sleep with the rodents for a second night. Avoid!

We found Cabin A to be clean and well-equipped and perfect for our family of four. Beds were comfortable as was the sectional sofa. We loved the porch and the board game collection, especially Ticket to Ride. The bathroom had plenty of surfaces and storage for all of our toiletries. In the kitchen, I would have liked a big plastic bowl for salad. In the bathroom, I would have liked a few more hooks or towel rods. We were thankful for the box fan as it was warm when we were there, and in hindsight, could have asked for a second fan. We spent every day in Lassen and loved that we had our comfortable cabin to come home to every night. The owners and staff were very friendly, and were helpful when we realized my daughter left her cell phone in the bedroom. Very spotty cell service, and we did not mind at all. Enjoyed a beautiful trail run that left from the end of Hall Way and looped south to connect to the PCT and back through Spattercone Park. We will return, and might consider Cabin 8 because it's even further back from Highway 89.

We stayed 4 nights in Log Cabin B & overall, enjoyed our stay. We would give more stars if not for the following: a rodent (probably one of the many ground squirrels on the property) came in nightly, the hot water was dangerously hot, the water pressure in the shower was ultra powerful and the sofa bed frame had sharp points that scratched knees & ripped a hole in my shorts! The first night, the rodent/squirrel ate part of a whole avocado on the counter. After that, we left no food out but still saw evidence of its visits every morning, having to clean & sanitize the counter & stove of droppings. One early evening while we were outside at the fire pit, my son looked inside and saw the critter at the stove, running away through the oven vent! Other than these complaints, we found the cabin spacious for a family of 4, enjoyed the fire pit and played the board games provided in the cabin. The kitchen was well-stocked with paper towels, soap, salt, utensils and new plates, but the pots and pans could use updating. The tub, toilet and sink appear updated but the sink drain plug was missing. We used the sofa bed and futon as beds but the futon was uncomfortable so we used our air mattress instead. The bedroom has a large closet and dresser. The location is great- close to Lassen's north entrance and Butte Lake area, as well as Subway Cave. They have movie night on Fridays but unfortunately, we were too tired from hiking to take part. Keep in mind there is no wifi and cell service was spotty. The owners were helpful and friendly, responding quickly to our request for more towels & linens, and concern about a gas smell coming from the heater.

We stayed in unit #11 right after Jennifer B. It was not a cabin but one of the upstairs units. She nailed everything. One of the light bulbs that she mentioned was still on the ground next to the stairs. Good thing that we had our camping lights with us. We used them in the bathroom. To call it a firetrap is an understatement. The power strip that ran across the wall was about 3 feet too short. It was hanging in midair under the counter mentioned by Jennifer B, dangling from the plug of yet another power strip that was attached to the wall between the windows. If you had the light on when you used the microwave, (the one that is wired by speaker wire that is stapled to the wall), it would get very dim. God forbid that you have the a/c (actually just a window fan, a/c did not work) on at the same time. There were no screens on the windows so we did not feel comfortable leaving them open for air. Lots of flying bugs out at night that would just fly right in and make our lives miserable. We also mentioned the light issue in our bathroom to the lady at checkout but I don't think they know what to do about it. We think that the switch on the light over the mirror is broken (it is a pull-chain!!). I am not that short but I could not reach the chain nor the light that was mounted in the same nook as the microwave and mini-fridge. Their website touts the new ownership as of 2019. Maybe they need to check what people are saying about them and step it up to fix these issues. It is amazing to me that a sale was allowed when there are so many obvious fire code violations. While the price was right, the stay was not. Live and learn.

Room Tip: Don't choose upstairs unit #11. Not sure about the other unit but probably just as bad.
