It has all the right qualities of a 5 star golf/spa resort, but is not overly stuffy or pretentious - got just a hint of that nice Ojai hippy nature to keep things calm and light. The attention and professionalism of staff was impressive, beyond the reception and concierge... from shuttle drivers to bellmen to waiters, everyone is polite, friendly, and kind. Good for families: kids camp is great for the kids... Kids wanted to go back every day, and counselors were fun, smart, and safe. Pixie pool is also perfect: secure pool area away from the hustle of everything else with full menu and store to buy the floaties you forgot. Plenty to do if you want it: golf, tennis, spa, activity calendar... town, beach, horse, wine are all close too. We felt relaxed, even with kids, which is rare.

We've been enjoying this world class, gorgeous resort for at least 14 years and have seen it go through a myriad of upgrades. What never changes however; are the incredible grounds, the breath taking views and the relaxing feeling you get when you are there. Unless you are looking for things to complain about; any stress you feel will melt away the moment you arrive. We've traveled all over the world and there aren't many resorts like this one! We have ALWAYS found the service to be impeccable with very "down to earth" employees who truly love their jobs and just want to please. Sure; there are little things that go wrong in every hotel, but you will be hard pressed to find a resort this beautiful with such a calming effect and such a dedicated staff! More than all the above; we love the fact that we can bring our children (our dogs) along and they are treated just as special as we are. We have golfed all over the world but find ourselves coming back here over and over to enjoy the amazingly beautiful, fun and challenging course that opened in 1923. The course is always impeccably well maintained. We have played here dozens of times and feel the history each time we drive down the fairways. The huge Eucalyptus trees must be as old as the course and seem to reach up to the sky. Ojai Valley resort is also a great place to bring friends, family and business acquaintances to impress. The brunch is phenomenal and they a have a dog friendly seating area on the upper patio and also across from Jim's Grill. Make sure you walk the entire grounds to view the Mediterranean landscaping, especially by the lower pool, take a bike ride on the back trails, play some golf or tennis and soak in all this place has to offer!

We've just finished a 4-night stay at the Ojai Valley Inn (OVI) and had the most amazing time. It is a spectacular setting with mountains in the backdrop, overlooking the beautiful grounds. We booked through Amex Fine Hotels, which gives benefits such as a room upgrade (when available). Upon check-in we were told we'd been upgraded but discovered that this was to a disabled room, which was bigger but had no bath and the shower only reached around 5 feet. This wasn't suitable so we phoned the front desk to explain the situation and mentioned that we didn't want the room. The team were very busy as there was a wedding and we were initially told that they would try to find us an alternative room 2 days later, which was disappointing. Given we were paying c$500 per night we would've rather checked in elsewhere as the room wasn't practical. We decided to speak in person to the reception and that's where we met Layla who was incredibly professional and helpful. She completely understood our situation and and went above and beyond the find us a different room. We eventually were given a beautiful room for the duration of our stay and she continued to make every effort to ensure we were comfortable. She really transformed our experience and we were able to enjoy what is a truly amazing place. I'd also like to mention the wonderful staff working at the Oak, Jimmy's Pub and Libbey's. We can't wait to return to California and the OVI will definitely be a priority on our list.

This is our first time at the hotel, we came to celebrate our 5th wedding anniversary and my husband’s birthday. When we called to make the reservation they only had 2 suites available, reservationist told me it was a beautiful room and well worth the $1,000+ a night splurge. She told me at the time the room available had two queen beds but that she would put the request in for a king and that she felt confident they would be able to do something when we checked in. Well, we just checked in and they said our room has two full beds (not queen) and that they do have a suite available with a king bed but that there was an up charge. I asked to speak to the manager explaining the situation to her and asking if she could upgrade us to the king suite without the up charge since it is the day of and we are celebrating our anniversary. Without any hesitation she said NO and that was is it. Well, then we come to the room and look at the tiney full size bed my husband and I will have to share or sleep in separate beds leaving us disheartened about the treatment we were receiving. Our lovely beautiful room also turns out to have a beautiful view of the parking lot!? Think twice before you book here, hotels that are charging someone over $1,000 a night will typically treat you much better and try to accommodate you if they can and not put you in a “suite” that looks eye level into a parking lot.

Having nearby friends in Camarillo, and some further south in Del Mar, my wife and I joined two other couples for a long weekend at the Ojai Valley Inn. While the facility has been there for decades and all in the Spanish style common in old California, this was a fabulous place! The rooms were very nice and comfortable with lots of privacy. They had a bird sanctuary which was quite nice, and two large swimming pools. My wife and her friends did the Spa and said it was wonderful! We had dinner there and the food and wine were extremely good. The golf course has been there since 1923 and the first round of golf had none other than Harry Vardon and Ted Ray, two of England's finest golfers. One of California's finest resorts and well worth the time and money!
