I have stayed at fine hotels all over the world and this ranks among the top three! Can't wait to return Everything perfect from rooms, to meals, to the immaculate facilities. Loved every minute of this place.
Our good friend Dr. G planned a Surprise 40th Birthday weekend for his wife Dr. J at Ojai Valley Inn and my husband and I were lucky to have been invited to this celebration and were in on the surprise to support the logistics. Dr. G's gaol was to make it a celebration to remember, and an event of a lifetime for his wife, and I must say it was a magical weekend for all that were invited. There were 5 other couples that were invited and people traveled in from various parts of the world to celebrate. It's a weekend my husband and I find ourselves talking about still...and it's been a few months since our visit! Reservations: Dr. G worked w/Jennifer R. was helpful in making sure the details were taking care of for the first four rooms, when there was an additional room requested she did have to level it up to her manager...who was able to help accommodate this request. Surprise and Delight Support: Dr. G thought of all the little touches to welcome guests. He had a vision for floral arrangements made of Dr. J's favorite flowers. He was able to coordinate with staff (Natasha, Mariana, Tina) on the grounds to ensure that the flowers were delivered and displayed in each suite before the guests arrival. The staff also was able to help my husband and I set up additional welcome baskets in each room prior to the guests arrival. Everything went so smooth with this. Room:l + Bathroom Our room was spacious, clean, cozy and comfortable. We appreciated the coffee maker and tea selection. The linens were divine. We enjoyed the double sinks and definitely the standalone oversized bathtub which we made use of during our trip! Golf Cart Service: The drivers were all very friendly and hospitable. Also very attentive and efficient! With it being a holiday weekend, we did have to wait a bit at times, but that is to be expected. We enjoyed speaking with the drivers. One of them has worked there for many years and had some good stories to share. Jerome is awesome! Vendors: With it being 4th of July weekend, holiday time, Dr. G had a bit of a hurdle finding a florist that would be open to taking this job. Stacey Morris, owner of Blooming Ruby’s, came in on her off day (Sunday) to create beautiful floral arrangements for all 5 of our rooms. Highly recommend this vendor. Concierge, Guest Services: Andrea H. was such a pro at helping to ensure our groups guest journey was seamless! From setting up dining reservations for our group on site at the Oak, to receiving/securing/storing our customized special cake including the presentation of this cake during Dr. J's birthday dinner, she thought of all the details. Dining at The Oak: Alyssa was staffed during the birthday celebration, and was so friendly, efficient and on point! Jared (Oak’s manager) ensured all the details were attended to. The food was so tasty and my personal favorite cocktail is the Lavender Lemonade (also makes for a great photo for social LOL) . A crowd favorite though is that Ojai Tangerine Margarita. Dining Service: Whether it was our special group dinners, or smaller group meals at the cafe, one thing that was certain...service was A+! Joe always provides great service at Jimmy’s Pub. Spa: Wow! The Kuyam treatment was a dream. We were able to use the spa amenities sauna, steam room and the jacuzzi before our Kuyam treatment. A huge thanks to the Spa Manager, Crystal, who Dr. G worked with to arrange a Kuyam treatment for each guest. Coordinating for 6 women is no easy task! The spa didn’t feel overcrowded and there was lots of quiet areas which I appreciated. I've been to a bunch of spas and this experience was like no other. I enjoyed the kombucha on tap and all the snacks, especially the little cookies post Kuyam treatement and iced tea. Joanne, who was our Kuyam guide had such a soothing, calming demeanor and helped to educate us on the history of the Kuyam and benefits. Talk about the hostess with the mostest!!! Bikes: Bikes are free to use, but it is based on availability and they do get booked quickly especially on holiday weekends. Young children riding on the hitches should be highly encouraged to wear a helmet. I'm a fan of erring on the side of caution and safety 😎 Golfing: This is the best resort to take lessons at, everyone is so patient if you are taking lessons. Thanks Dan (pro shop) and Jeff (best golf instructor!). Valet + bonus: Tesla charging stations! Frank and Toby, thanks for taking care of our cars and making sure they are fully charged! We are so grateful to have been invited to experience this special, restorative place,…
My wife and I had the most delightful stay for three nights this December. First I have to say that every staff member you encounter is incredibly polite and well trained. Weather a server in the restaurant, pool attendant, bellboy, front desk or bartender each encounter makes you feel valued and special. That's a pretty tall order these days having stayed at many fine hotels around the world. Our fireplace mini suite with great balcony was perfect to view the pink moment every night of our stay. And the room is so comfortable and every detail has been thought through from the eucalyptus air freshener to the small ties for the cords for your chargers. Over the top attention to the smallest detail in the room. We had a great time at the bar and enjoyed the food each morning overlooking the golf course. Even the pool food was fresh and delicious. Usually when you use a hotel bike they are old rusty and not rideable. But each bike we used was in top notch shape and the attendant made sure the sit height was good as well. The front desk gives you free water bottles if you need them for hiking and the self parking was convenient and easy. There are so many inferior resorts around like Bacara that just disappoint. I think this resort is still family owned and this family and management team have a lot to be proud about!…
The Ojai Valley Inn has just gotten better and better over the years we've gone. Beautiful location and facility that make you forget you're just an hour and a half drive from the perils of Los Angeles. Olivella is an exceptional restaurant and the service is as good as any we've enjoyed anywhere in the world. We'll definitely continue our twice a year jaunts to the Inn. Highly recommended!
The location is a delight. Facilities excellent. Room comfortable and super clean but fireplace not worth it as rather dim. Food in Olivella was absolutely amazing. Shrimp in Jimmy’s Pub for lunch delicious. Dinner in The Oak less so. Breakfast was super average and disappointing offering quantity over quality. Spa is lovely. My massage was spectacularly good – maybe a little charmless but A1 for skills and breaking down my cricked back before a flight. The beeping of golf carts reversing outside our room I could have lived without … This is a totally special place. We will return.
We arranged my wife's surprise 40th birthday celebration which was the event of a lifetime. We managed to get my wife’s dearest friends to travel in from various parts of the world for the surprise weekend July 3-7th and they are still talking about it! The care that Jennifer R provided while making the initial reservations was wonderful. Myranda was extremely helpful the last trip and got us a perfect room location. The people on the grounds helping us with setting up our floral arrangements and placing them in each suite was Tina, Natasha and Mariana. Andrea H set up everything for us perfectly so that delivery of the cake and storage was a breeze. From our reservations at the Oak’s, to the storage and care of our special birthday cake and presentation of the cake during our group dinner it was all fantastic. We were all impressed with the service while dining with Alyssa as well. Jared and Ruthie (Oak’s manager) made sure every detail was perfect as well. The food and drinks were devine as always (I’m always partial to the Ojai Tangerine Margarita). The staff treated us like royalty at the both of the special group dinners and their service was absolutely impeccable. The apothecary is a great place to take the kids in the morning for arts and crafts. We cannot thank Crystal the Spa manager enough for helping us arrange the special spa visit which included a Kuyam treatment for each guest. I could not have wished for a more perfect set up of our group of 6. Joanne, who was the Kuyam guide for them, was the perfect hostess. They mentioned the refreshments after the Kuyam ceremony were delicious and arranged in such an appealing presentation. For golfing - Spencer took care of us extremely well and Dan was great for helping us at the pro shop. Jeff is the best golf instructor I have ever had. My wife and daughter take lessons from him as well. Frank and Toby from valet, as well as Jerome helping out with the rides around the property are always going out of their way. Joe provides great service always for us at Jimmy’s Pub. It has always been a magical place for our family, and it is so heartwarming to be able to give our near and dear friends a chance to experience a piece of our magic. I will never get tired of breakfast looking at the Topa Topa mountains or at sunset watching for the pink moment. Thank you again for contributing to my family's cherished memories.…
I was there for a business trip, and was pleasantly surprised by how wonderful this property was. The rooms are beautiful. Very spacious, has a fire place and the beds were so comfortable. The attention to detail from the housing staff was five star. The spa was fantastic. Was with a large group so we did not experience any of the restaurants, but the food that was provided was great! Gorgeous property, golf course is beautiful. Plenty to do, and it is an easy walk into town. Everyone was super friendly that worked there. It is a bit of a drive from Santa Barbara.
I really enjoyed our weekday visit to Ojai Inn while on a bike tour. It was wonderful and not crowded though I understand weekends can be and using the pool requires a reservation. We spent 2 days bicycling around the area and enjoying the restaurants and golf course. There were walking trails and spacious grounds to explore. I liked the rescue birds that were in a large enclosure on the way to our room so we saw them frequently. The staff was welcoming and the grounds were spotless. Outdoor dining at the Pub was perfect with an awe inspiring view of the mountains and the golf course.
This is priced like a luxury hotel but the service level and facilities are only mid-range. This is NOT a luxury spa resort experience. It's a Florida -type family vacation spot. The spa is small compared to the property size and it's difficult to get appointments. The staff is unaccomodating and has no idea what it means to provide service. The spa staff was especially rude. The furniture in the rooms is cheap and lacks any design with mass produced prints on the plain white walls. This is not the spot for a relaxing get away weekend. It's more of the type of place you'd go because someone was having an event here and you didn't have a choice. The restaurants are mediocre at best. I came here hoping it might be a bit like Canyon Ranch or Miraval or Monarch Beach. What I found was a Marriott.…
My daughter and I spent the most wonderful weekend celebrating her birthday at the Ojai Valley Inn recently. I can not recommend this resort highly enough. From the moment we arrived we felt welcomed, valued and even celebrated. There was a birthday cupcake waiting for her in our room when we arrived and each time we went to dine at the Oaks Restaurant the staff remembered that she observes a vegan diet and that we were celebrating her birthday. The garden grounds are kept immaculate while magically being maintained in peaceful silence. The only thing you hear in the morning here are the birds. One of the nicest things included in our stay was bicycles, which we rode into town on. The Sunday Farmer's Market in town is worth going to. It's small but packed high quality vendors. A weekend in Ojai is nice but a weekend at the Ojai Valley Inn is a bit of heaven. This is a very special place where everyone happily goes above and beyond to welcome and serve their guests. It is a place that is good for the soul.…
