At the Claremont Club & Spa, a Fairmont Hotel, guests often commend the hotel's cleanliness and the staff's helpfulness, though some have encountered service inconsistencies. The prime location is a highlight, with easy access to outdoor activities and stunning views. While the hotel's amenities, including a luxurious spa, receive positive mentions, there are mixed reviews regarding room quality and some call out the need for updates. The elegant atmosphere is appreciated, but many guests feel that the hotel's pricing doesn't quite match the value offered.

Have stayed several times at the Claremont Fairmont Hotel. Perfect location with amazing ocean views. We had a junior suite with beautiful views of the ocean and the room and bathroom was large and plenty of space. Enjoyed the breakfast room service and lunch in the hotel restaurant with stunning views of the ocean. The hotel staff is very helpful and kind.

First room I got was really musty smelling and on the 4th floor overlooking a generator. I was pretty shocked that I paid $475 after taxes etc for a room with two double beds that was smelly, dated and viewed ac ducts/generators etc. I called to complain about the room and you relocated me to a room on a higher floor with one king bed. Much better, though to be really honest, I've had far nicer rooms for a lower rate in san francisco. The room overall wasn't bad, though only having one small window made it feel a bit like a cave. Plus there was oddly no extra blanket. The pools were great though, and the real reason we came. I felt like the $18 chicken sandwich poolside that didn't even have a salad was way over priced. I mean it was this very nicely made, but small sandwich on a big paper plate without even a pickle. I mean I know luxury places cost more, but you could put a little more effort (and food) on the plate for $18. Plus, we had to get it and wait for it ourselves, so it's not like we even had a server bring it to us! You guys need to step up your game for these prices.

This hotel is beautiful and the views are stunning. We stayed here mostly because my son was doing a tennis tournament at the Berkeley club right below the hotel so we couldn’t get a better location but I won’t be returning to this hotel anytime soon. The food here is so expensive and doesn’t really have anything for kids unless they have super advance palettes and you want to spend a lot of money on their meal. Even food by the pool wasn’t great until the weekend when there was fries and burgers. One night there was a wedding and the music was so incredibly loud my kids could not go to sleep, it literally sounded like a night club with no help from the front desk. If you can hear music like this in your rooms then they should limit the time of weddings to 10pm at least. The gate at the front entrance never worked and I had to go back to the lobby to get more keys several times, no apologies or anything and after reading some reviews seems like this is an on going issue. The spa was nice but again had no extra details that make it worth the money. I’ve been to spas in not as nice places that had light food, essential oils, or even a mask for over your eyes during your massage. These are all small things but really do make a difference when you’re spending thousands of dollars to stay at the hotel. The staff for the most part was great and helpful though. I’m sure someone will comment on this post and tell me to contact them and they will consider our feedback to make improvements (I’ve seen this being done with past reviews) but seems like nothing has actually changed. It’s a bummer because I feel like they could really make this hotel something special.

We stayed two nights here after dreaming of staying at the Claremont for ages. Or stay started by us having to circle the lot to find a parking spot and then having to haul our luggage down from the top of the hill as there was no valet and no easy way to check in. The staff were very welcoming and friendly. The lobby and other shared spaces are beautiful. The elevators are sufficient but really unsure how a wheelchair could fit through the tiny door and space (we don’t have a wheelchair, just a tight we shared). Our room was very small and it was impossible to reach the toilet without closing the door which made noise when we needed to go in the middle of the night. The tv was also off to the side of the bed with no comfortable way to view it which made it just another decoration. The bed was rock hard and quite uncomfortable which was not great for sleeping soundly. We had to continue adjusting our position all night to relieve pressure points.

The one fear thing I will say is the room seemed sound proof. We could hear people and pets only while they were in the hall. Once folks went into their rooms, we heard not a peep!

Given the cost, we were quite disappointed in our stay. We paid $377 per night for two nights. Had no room service or other paid items and our bill came out to more than a grand agreed taxes and their other fees.

I do not expect we will return. There are other hotels in the area that are nice and both more comfortable and less expensive we will choose from in the future.

our one night stay at the Claremont was a real splurge, intended to celebrate our first "child free" night since the beginning of the Pandemic. We thought it would be worth doing something really special and imagined a place where we could sit in a beautiful place, have drinks, a meal, whatever we wanted all in a single location - no planning, just a lovely romantic time together. What we got: a tiny room overlooking the trash cans, with only one chair for the two of us even though the hotel seemed at least half empty. The restaurant wasn't open. The drink options were limited and nothing we cared for (wine and beer only - no cider, no hard alcohol - not even airplane minis). The food options were limited to a cheese platter that resembled what you get on an airplane but for 3x the price. "in room dining" was an unappealing and limited menu of glorified pub food that we would have had a hard time eating in our tiny little room with it's one chair overlooking the trash. The place was huge and has a fascinating history that was nearly impossible to learn about on a complicated and unwieldy website. No facilities map, no nothing in the room to indicate what's available. no schedule of activities or classes that we could find. I wish we had saved our money. We could have had 3 better vacations for the cost of this one disappointing night.

We spend a ton of money for a small room "with a Bay view" through a window the size of a breakfast tray. There was no parking except on a small road with signs posted saying it is dangerous to park there because people break in to your cars. I asked a staff person about that and they said, yes, it happens, and that it happens also in the parking lots, but slightly less frequently. The restaurant is essentially in the parking lot. The only other dining alternative is to stand in line at a counter at something less than a cafeteria. The people working there were friendly, but ALWAYS got the order wrong - literally every single time for all 5 members of our party over three days. I would get my muffin or whatever and say, "Excuse me, but this isn't the one I ordered." One person would turn to another and say something and that person would turn to a third person and say something and eventually someone would come and take away the incorrect muffin. And then do nothing more. I waited until I realized that they weren't going to look for the thing I actually ordered and paid for - they just forgot. Every time we went there, something like this. Three bowls of fruit. "Excuse me, we didn't order fruit." And one person in the "cafe" or whatever it was was coughing uncontrollably during covid. It was funny to hear the football player in front of me in line say, "I'll have all your orange juice and all your apple juice." The server gave him one of each and he had to repeat it. "I want all of it." Not a choice we would make again. Please publish this.

We are staying at the Claremont Hotel, October 22nd-25th, 2020, booked two rooms for three nights. Our purpose is to visit family who live in the area. A few moments ago, we asked to sit in their outdoor area restaurant and they directed us to another end of a parking lot to sit on Adirondack chairs, even though we are guests of the hotel. The night before we had purchased two Etude Pinot Noir bottles of wine. We realize it’s during Covid, yet couldn’t the service include a solution besides Adirondack chairs at another end of parking lot? We decided to open our own bottle of wine on one of their hotel decks. So far so good. 😳

I have stayed at the Claremont several times and have had great experiences in the past. This time was not as great. Upon arriving we were given incorrect information about when the pool bar would be open, which was our lunch plan after traveling. We arrived right after 4:00 (were told it was open till 4:30) and told they were closed. This was unfortunate as we needed to eat! Then we had a reservation at the Limewood at 8:30. This was a very strange experience. We ordered drinks and appetizers, and then the waiter came over and told us he needed our dinner order immediately and wasn't even sure he could get it in in time before the kitchen closed (isn't this a waiter's job to know and communicate this?) Luckily we did get dinner but it was close! I have only had great meals at Limewood in the past, but this meal was very underwhelming. Service was not great (forgetting our orders, missing items, didn't check on us much). The food was not as good as it has been in the past and was very expensive. We had to order so quickly that we didn't have much of a chance to look at the menu. My friend ordered the fish for $52 and got a whole fish on a plate- nothing else. Not a vegetable, no rice, nothing. That was strange and disappointing, especially for the price. My other friend got scallops, and for $32 only got 4 tiny scallops. We live in the Bay Area and are used to Bay Area prices, but this was still absurd. The lemon tart for dessert had no flavor. I got a $10 mocktail that was water with maybe a spritz of juice. Overall, a pretty disappointing meal. In the morning we were further disappointed to learn that room service was not being served during weekdays. This is one of the reasons we booked here! Then, we went to the pool and were pretty disturbed to find trash INSIDE the pool. Not just one piece, but a lot of trash. The whole pool area was not cleaned up to the standard I would expect from a spa hotel. The chaise lounges were dirty, the bathrooms were gross, and there was trash in the pool. At 11:00 on the day of checkout, housekeeping was impatiently asking when we would be the room. (They already knocked at 8am). We weren't planning on leaving till noon but felt pressured by them. I was pretty shocked by all of this as it doesn't meet the Fairmont expectations I have become used to in the past. For the price we paid, it definitely wasn't worth it, and I would have a hard time recommending it to others in the future.

We spent 11 days visiting family in Oakland, the hotel was nice , the facilities were clean and the personnel was very courteous and attentive. What i will always remember of the hotel is the yoga clases. I selected the hotel primarily because it has a nice gym and offered fitness classes. tHe location of the hotel was also convenient to visit family, but the real highlight of my stay was that I really enjoyed the morning yoga classes with Shelly. It was a unique combination of strength , stretching and relaxation. I also enjoy a movement class and unfortunately do not remember the name of the instructor.
oNe night i was looking to get a glass of milk to get to sleep everything was closed at 9 Pm but the manager was so attentive that brought me a glass of milk free of charge to the room. I think that I need to thank the initiative of the hotel operator to convey my request to the manager.
We also had a nice experience with the restaurant manager that turn on the gas burners of the heaters in the restaurant outdoors table even after the restaurant was closed so we could enjoy a glass of wine.

We stayed here to visit our daughter who’d recently moved to the area. The accommodations are very comfortable and customer service folks are very friendly and very helpful.
Jessica Fong was particularly helpful, she left a personalized welcome note for us and saw that we were welcomed with a lovely cheese board in our room two nights! The teas and coffee selections in the room are so nice since we prefer to lounge a bit in the morning before getting a full breakfast. We did enjoy cocktails and a burger in the lobby restaurant and a wonderful breakfast in the other restaurant on-site.
