The Waterfront has a nice location at Jack London Square. However, it is a high priced hotel that offers few features. There is essentially no breakfast restaurant or cafe. The room with a balcony had a very small balcony which had one chair on it. When we requested a second chair, a small chair was brought in. After we went out and came back, that chair was removed. If you pay for a room with a balcony, the hotel should provide comfortable seating to enjoy the view. All in all, the hotel does not live up to its price. If the price were lower, it would be an ok choice.
Excellent staff: Very helpful, courteous, and professional. Room and common areas very clean and well stocked; numerous amenities available. Great location for dining & waterfront walking, Attentive front desk and on site security on duty 24 hours. Very nice outdoor pool & patio with yacht harbor view.
Very nice view of the Marina and water. High price for water views. Would have been nice if the hotel could book familys on lower floors, too much noise above us because of kids running back and forth and jumping on floor
We were a bit disappointed in what we anticipated to be a great hotel in a fabulous location. Location is A+ though the actual room was C at best. Clean but fairly outdated and we needed to call maintenance and housekeeping at check in which did not arrive until checking at front desk after 45 minutes. We booked a 7 night stay and toiletries were not full at check in which was odd. Paper products were also more than 3/4 used. Not our typical Hyatt experience. This could be a fantastic venue if updated based on the area which is growing in new restaurants and residences.
We stayed 3 nights with our two boys. Hotel was filthy with stains on the carpet, furniture, etc that looked like very little effort was put into cleaning them. Walls are paper-thin and you hear everything at night - we had the pleasant experience of listening to every word of a fight by the couple next door that woke our entire family at 3am one night. Every night and morning we were awaken by the train that passes by within 200 yards of the hotel and blasts its horn over and over!! Sometimes the horn on the train worked in our favor as it would drown out the sound of random people yelling obscenities on the street that sounded like they were standing on the balcony due to the paper-thin walls...... The staff were downright unfriendly and rude. We had asked for a roll-away bed when I reserved the room. Then the day before checking in, they texted asking if we needed anything. I replied about the roll away and they got back to me right away saying it would be in the room. When we checked in just before 10pm on a Thursday night and asked about the bed we were told it was not in the room but then told that is our fault for not letting them know "how late" we were checking in (why that matters, I have no clue - you would think later is better to give time to set up). We were then told she could not get the bed since she is not trained in how to "make up the bed" and we had to wait until 11pm when new staff arrived. Finally at 11:30 pm the bed showed up to our room. Not sure about the story about being trained in making it up as it was simply pushed into our room with a bare mattress and we were handed a wad of sheets and blankets! We had also asked at checkin for an additional set of sheets but this was not delivered and once again we were told that this was our fault for not communicating?!?! WTF?? Lastly, we paid $35 per day for parking and every time we got in our car it smelled as if someone had been smoking pot in it which might explain why it seemed like they could never find it when we requested it. All in all - a terrible hotel experience. Most of the time walking anywhere from this hotel we did not even feel safe with our children. Even the vending machines were empty if that's any clue how they manage upkeep at this hole.…
Great location with beautiful views. The staff was incredibly helpful and friendly. They went above and beyond to accommodate my colleagues and I. I would definitely stayed here again regardless of being for business or personal.
The Waterfront is a wonderful hotel in Oakland, on the water. I took a ferry from San Francisco and walked from the arrival dock (2 minutes or less). Staff were v helpful and friendly. Room were spacious. I had a drink in the hotel bar and the people were lovely. I’ll always stay here!
I live in Oakland but I chose to stay at the Waterfront Hotel over my wedding weekend so I could have a special, luxurious experience the night before my wedding, a glamorous place to get ready with all my friends on the day-of, and a special suite for my new spouse and I to spend our first night together as a married couple. On the one hand, the experience did NOT meet my expectations. It was not luxurious. The suite was very bare bones with furniture that had definitely seen better days. It is not what I was expecting for the price. The fact that all the vending machines throughout the property were either malfunctioning or barely stocked was just terrible. I ended up buying some soft drinks from the staff vending machine thanks to the help of the wonderful staff. That’s kind of ridiculous. Also, I did not realize there was absolutely no room service - surprising because of the restaurant that is attached to the hotel. Granted, I should have investigated that beforehand - I just assumed that such a high-end hotel would have room service, especially since I've attended work functions there that included food and beverages. On the other hand, the staff's response (Loli and Haas) when my belongings were stolen by another guest was incredible. They went above and beyond the call of duty. The theft happened 30 minutes before I was due at the altar to get married. The stolen items included my hand-written wedding vows, a tube of irreplaceable discontinued lipstick, and hundreds of dollars of cash for vendor tips. Loli and Haas reasoned with the guest, who was apparently resistant to returning my belongings even though he'd been captured on camera. I cannot thank them enough for going the extra mile. They even took a photo of my vows and sent it to my phone just in time for me to refer to them during the ceremony. What could have been a huge life-disrupting situation has now become a hilarious story to remember about my wedding day. …
Marvelous quality stay at a great location at Jack London Square with a unique variety of great restaurants and right next to the ferry for direct access to the heart of San Francisco Our preferred hotel for Al of the Bay Area.
A wonderful waterfront experience and gateway to so much including the SF Ferry right next to the hotel. Alameda Estuary. The waterfront location is great for walking and gawking with lots of events sharing this space.
