The rooms were no fuss, clean, basic and well lit. The room is OK for a one night stay. The staff were friendly and helpful. The dog was funny and entertaining. SF is a very expensive city and an amazing hotel costs a whole lot of $$$$. This is not a fancy hotel, its a motel for a reasonable price. You get what you paid for. The bathroom was cramped.
A very disappointing stay. The reviews were mostly good when we booked this and I don't like to do bad reviews but I have to be honest. There was a very strong smell of cannabis everywhere. Our shower water would not drain away and the pillow cases looked dirty. The people next door seemed to be having an all night party so we didn't get much sleep. It wasn't expensive so if you want to stay in Oakland I'd recommend upping your budget if you can
owner or manager not very polite on the phone when talking to him about my reservation cancellation , charged me for the stay and did not want to reverse the charges . not a place I would stay with me and my family
This Motel is an old but recently painted tidy 1 night work stay motel. The manager was very helpful and informative about the local area, very pleasant and friendly. I would highly recommend this place for people on work assignment as it is a no frills but clean motel
This postwar style, family-run motel reminded me of the places my parents would take us during family vacations, with its terraced rooms overlooking an offstreet courtyard. The rooms are remodeled with new fixtures in the bathroom, flatscreen TVs, comfortable, raised level queen beds, a small refrigerator with a freezer, and a Keurig coffee maker. Great free WiFi: my laptop fired up as soon as I signed in (and that's really rare, even at more expensive hotels). Very clean, comfortable, and generally quiet: even though it's right next to the busy West MacArthur-Broadway intersection, I heard very little traffic noise during my one-night stay. Conveniently located near Telegraph and Piedmont Avenues with their hip restaurants, boutiques, and businesses, and just a ten-minute ride by Uber or taxi to downtown. Some caveats: The rooms are all walkup; you haul your luggage up a flight of stairs or two. The cute little Ikea mugs in the room were too small for the Keurig and overflowed quickly. There are also a few rooms occupied by longterm residents, which one sees a lot in CA cities due to the high cost of housing here. Some of them own multiple vehicles, which made it hard to find parking on site in the evening. (You can park a little further up on the street. The neighborhood is busy and safe, as many employees from the nearby Kaiser medical center walk to catch buses on Telegraph or the Bart at the MacArthur station.) One of the residents got a little loud and drunk on the upper terrace, but someone shut down the party by 7 p.m. :) The motel was very quiet after that. I'd come back here if I needed to stay again in Oakland.…
