Beyond cool! Very cute, cleanand comfortable B & B in Nice , CA, on Clear Lake. 9 Cabooses, each one decorated in a different theme. We stayed in the Tropicaboose, obviously a tropical theme. While we didn’t personally see any ghosts, it is reportedly haunted. The land was once owned by Kit Carson. We did hear a few noises we couldn’t explain, but who knows…. It was a lot of fun! The breakfast was wonderful, as were all the employees. If you tell them any dietary restrictions beforehand, they will accommodate. We highly recommend this B & B!!

This was our second visit to the Featherbed. The owners and staff were very accommodating and hospitable. The breakfast they served was delicious. The new owners are making many updates. We can’t wait to return and see all the changes they are planning to make.

We loved Featherbed Railroad Bed & Breakfast. The hosts, David and Jami are the sort of host every place should have. Dave provides the stories (tales) and Jami the charm. There are 9 cabooses each with a different theme. We stayed in the TropiCaboose. It is decorated in a tropical theme. The bed was very comfortable, and the linens fresh. Everything worked as it was supposed to. New air conditioners and heating work perfectly. There was plenty of hot water and the shower worked perfectly. (Unlike many hotels where water either goes everywhere or nowhere.) Featherbed has been around for years and had fallen into a bit of disrepair, through various owners, until the Smiths bought it a year ago. Everything is slowly being refurbished and freshened. David does most of it himself. A work in progress. Please remember these are old railroad cars. Breakfast was freshly cooked waffles and bacon with fresh fruit and was most enjoyable. When we checked in, we felt more than welcome. David regaled us with some history and their plans for the Featherbed. Jami gave our daughter and son-in-law a tour while we did the paperwork. Jami and our daughter hit it off. Their tour included their “Gypsy Wagon”. (We got the tour the next morning after breakfast.) Just ask, I think they will gladly show it off! We think Featherbed is worthy of a stop. Too bad we live a thousand miles away.

My husband George and I decided to return to the Feather Bed Railroad B&B to celebrate our wedding anniversary. We had such a wonderful experience last May that we decided why not? The new owners have made some very welcome changes. Now all of the cabooses are dog friendly, and we were able to upgrade our caboose from the Tropicaboose to the Orient Express. They have also discontinued the 2 night minimum policy, which really worked out for us because we only needed to stay one night. The hosts really went out of their way to help us celebrate our anniversary, including gifting us with a lovely bottle of wine, placing a cute happy anniversary banner over our breakfast table, and surprising us with cheesecake with a little candle. Those special touches set the FBRR apart. It's the perfect place to celebrate a special occasion or for a quick getaway in beautiful Lake County.

We're railroad buffs and this is the fourth caboose motel we've stayed in - Texas, Indiana, Pennsylvania, and now the Featherbed RR in California. Very quiet location across road from beautiful Clear Lake. Nine cabooses, each with different theme. We stayed in the Wild, Wild, West caboose. Owners have spent a lot of time searching antique stores for period decorations! This area has limited dining options for dinner. Be flexible. Our room was quaint and comfortable. Has an excellent Roku TV system! Movie options are endless - we were able to catch one we wanted to see in the theaters this past year. Our host, Dick, was very accommodating. Normally breakfast is served at 9 am. He moved breakfast for us up to 8:30 so we could make our ride on the Skunk Train on time. Very friendly staff. Setting is very relaxing with lots of shade, picnic tables, and nice outdoor area to just relax. New owners have many plans to upgrade and make more lake activities available. Would certainly stay here again!

Kudos to the new owners team of David and Jamie, Richard and Rene! What a great team with pla ns to renovate this B&B treasure on Clearlake. We had a fantastic time and enjoyed the Gypsy Van story and all our interactions with the new owners. They know the true meaning of hospitality. This place is must when visiting Clearlake area. We are looking forward to returning and maybe getting a belly dance performance.😄

We loved it! I've visited twice before over a couple of decades and the brand new owners David and Jamie (hope I spelled it right) are keeping it as wonderful as ever. We swam in the pool, played ping pong, saw zillions of stars, walked to the Boathouse for lakeside drinks and drove to Blue Wing in Upper Lake for music and food. Nice trip from Berkeley/Oakland, under 3 hours through Napa Valley. Loved it, loved it, loved it.

Beautiful location, right across from the lake, and the comfortable caboose was charming. The DVD collection was the best, and to top everything off, the homemade breakfasts were delicious. Definitely a great place to stay.
