I booked the El Nido Room, knowing I would be recuperating and wanted the extra space for my caregiver. I specifically requested 2 queen beds in the separate bedroom. When I expressed my disappointment to check-in desk, all they would say was they did not physically have any rooms with 2 queen beds other than a smaller suite. I was...

Who could blame me for my fantasy? Looking down at the front door of NEIMAN MARCUS, seventeen floors below, framed by the Pacific Ocean and Newport’s skyline, I’m thinking “ZIP-LINING.” In my head, I see an invisible, straight line, directly between my hotel room on the 17th floor of the ISLAND HOTEL in Newport Beach, California and Neimans. It wasn’t...

If you are a shopper, or abandoned by a spouse because of business then this could be your oasis. You can walk to all the shops and restaurants you want and still get back to the pool easily. The beds are good, the management could beef up their friendliness throttle. The valet folks are outstanding. It's a good place, its...

I had the pleasure of staying at the Island Hotel in Newport Beach. While there are many great things about the hotel, the best part of our stay was meeting Sally Larson, a Concierge at the Island Club. Her bright smile and cheerful greeting every morning was the highlight of our day. Sally was always there to help and went...

Think the hotel should have lost a couple stars a few years ago. Desperately needs upgrading and a renovation. While some of the Staff were friendly, others at front desk need training desperately. I felt the $20 a day resort fee plus $35 parking is a total rip off. We not get Internet to work in room that was supposed...

I had a two-night stay at the Island back in February. I booked this stay for my girlfriend and I’s anniversary and chose the hotel because of my previous experiences there and the reputation it has for it being a great hotel for couples. When I arrived for check-in none of the valet staff offered to help me with my...

I made several calls to housekeeping and the staff were very responsive. When I politely suggested that I not be charged for the refrigerator because no matter how I adjusted the temp it froze my food and I had to throw some of it away, including a salad from Whole Foods and you can imagine how much that cost me!!!...

We have traveled extensively and stayed in some pretty nice places, but this week, we were at the Island hotel in Newport Beach and couldn't believe what we found. What a gem! All of the staff from the valet to the room service operator to the front desk to the concierge level receptionist to the house keeping were attentive, friendly,...

The Island Hotel in Newport Beach served as a conference location for a group of 170 who came in from all over the US and Canada. I am a local so for me it was 30 minutes from home. The sleeping rooms were first rate, maxi suites. Fruit, Cheese and wine were left for us in our room upon arrival....
