The VEA is a very nice property and fully refurbished. The staff are great and the ambiance is very nice. It has a great location across the street from Nordstrom at Fashion Island. But, I don't think we will stay here again. Here are my reasons why: No self-parking. Valet only and it is $60 a day. We asked for a quiet room and were placed in a tower on the other side of the convention space. It was indeed quiet but it is a very long walk and very inconvenient unless you are attending a convention. The room was clean and nicely furnished but pretty small by hotel standards. The bathroom was incredibly small with absolutely no counter space. And this was a Bonvoy "upgraded" room. The shower has a full length window in it facing the bed. There is a door you can pull across the window from the bed area so you have some privacy when showering, but not total privacy. It's SO weird. The bathroom lights and the small LED lights in the stand-alone closet come on with movement so if you get up in the middle of the night, all the lights come on. The room was not worth the $500+ we paid and it was an odd room. But again, the staff was very nice.

Dear SierraToGo, Thank you for sharing your review. We are pleased you enjoyed our convenient location and the courteous service provided by our associates. We also appreciate you mentioning our excellent atmosphere and beautiful property. However, we regret your disappointment with the size of your room and that our accommodations did not provide the value for which you were hoping. As with most cities, certain times of the year are busier and command higher rates, but we do make every effort to be priced competitively. We are also sorry to learn that we did not meet some of your expectations. Your comments will be shared with the appropriate individuals as we continually strive to improve our overall guest experience. We hope you will change your mind and give us another opportunity to provide you with the excellent hospitality for which we are known. Best Regards, Debbie Snavely General Manager

I had the best time staying at this hotel! It was my bday weekend and the day I arrived, they explained how they offer shuttle services where they drive you within 3 miles - Reid was my driver and he was so friendly, accommodating and he shared some great recommendations for where I should visit! He honestly made my trip even better! Then Madison, was super helpful with giving me restaurant ideas and I had the relaxing massage from Jaclyn and refreshing facial from Jeri. The hotel also sent up a birthday bottle of champagne with a fruit tray.. I would rate everything 5+ stars 🙂 I’ll definitely be back and I’ve been recommending the hotel to family and friends now too!

I thoroughly enjoyed my experience staying at the hotel, it was a beautiful property and the service was top notch. The one that sticks out to me was the large charming blonde man by the name of Reid, put a smile on my face and made me feel right at home on the way up to our room, was there for us at any beckoning call and was able to help us leave with a good taste in our mouth!

Good brief stay in your refurbished hotel. Couple of comments - rooms are expensive but comfortable and resort fee is ridiculous - i was there for 10 hours and it needs to be removed as the room prices are high and should include internet /towels etc - its pure gouging and was a post covid gimmick that now needs to be removed. Otherwise had to eat out as the restaurant was very busy on a friday night so that is great for the hotel. I will return as its a good spot after a long flight from europe but pricy !!

This has been one of the most disappointing properties I have stayed at in the past few years. The rooms are straight out of a 1980’s central Florida motel, exacerbated by broken elevators and lackluster facilities. Do not recommend staying at this property.

This was my first time visiting southern California. Newport Beach and this hotel were seriously the best and so accommodating with my early landing time. I was looking for reccomendations for what to do in the area, and Jalen Brown gave me awesome recs for me and my girl. The ideas made my girl so happy, and our engagement trip wonderful.

I arrived with a robust list of Newport Beach must-sees and must-dos. The moment I checked in, I threw this list away and for 48 hours, I fully took advantage of VEA's offerings. I ate and drank at all the on-site outlets - including the best chicken strips of my life, poolside. I ordered room service 3 times. I napped, outside, with the distant sound of golf swings and wind rustling through the palms luring me to sleep. I indulged with a 100 minute massage, accompanied by a morning ritual of stream room to sauna, on repeat. It was absolute bliss. I emerged from my 2 day solo trip absolutely renewed, and eager to book my next stay. A quick shout out to Tim - VEA's lobby attendant. A highlight of my stay, Tim's love of the hotel and its surroundings set the tone for my entire Newport Beach escape. Thank you, Tim!

I had high expectations for this hotel; unfortunately, they weren’t met. Granted, it was New Year’s Eve so the rates were high but the accommodations were mediocre at best. Not only did the lobby offer a scant amount of seating but for some reason the doors both at tge entrance and at the back by the restaurant overlooking the pool were kept open during the afternoon check in into the evening so it was terribly cold waiting for friends to arrive. Apparently we should have made reservations to have a drink at the bar in the afternoon as, even though there appeared to be available tables, we were told the only seating was at the bar, We wound up sitting at a couch nearby that was fine, but cold - due to the reasons mentioned and service was a bit delayed. The dinner to celebrate the New Year was not taking place until later in the evening. The room was one of the smallest I’ve ever stayed in at a US hotel, and tge design - for an updated hotel - was peculiar. I can understand mid-century modern but the placement of wide-based lamps in already cramped spaces is an odd design choice. The outdoor entrances to all rooms lent to a penitentiary look and drafty feel, plus the hefty overnight parking/valet fee contributed to my impression of this being an overpriced stay, even for a premium holiday night.

A group of girl friends got together over the holidays to enjoy the spa. Some of us did the day pass only, and others also got massages. The day pass is a great value, particularly if you're there at the start of the day. It includes sauna, steam room, whirlpool, and a coed outdoor pool area. The amenities are great to be able to shower and get ready for a night out afterward. We went from the spa to the restaurant for sundown cocktails. A great relaxing day out!
