Hotel is currently undergoing renovations which caused the closure of the restaurant, bar, spa and pool. There is also no way to access the make shift lobby for check-in accept to take a shuttle from the parking area. This information is not available anywhere on the Marriott website and was not communicated ahead of our visit. Additionally as a Bonvoy Titanium member there was absolutely no benefit provided. No lounge, no restaurant, no meal credit and no attempt to make up for the lack of amenities.

Even though this NB Marriott is under major renovations, Brandon the manager was outstanding and upgraded us to a wonderful ocean view suite for our anniversary. There was a bottle of champagne waiting for us & a nice dessert. Class Act by Brandon for sure! Plus, he waived the parking & resort fees since the hotel is being remodeled. From the parking structure, they shuttle you to the front of the lobby. Everybody was very nice at the resort and they had free coffee, tea and pastries in the morning. We had a wonderful stay & can’t wait to return when it’s finished. The hotel is right across the street from Fashion Island so we were able to walk around & shop and then ate at a great restaurant at Fashion Island Mall. Highly recommend this hotel now and in the future too. Steve Concialdi

This has always been a go to hotel for me. Yes, they did disclose that the hotel was under construction but I never thought it would be this bad. I tried to self-park but got so turned around in the garage that I gave up and valeted it. Going back and forth in the shuttle put an extra 30 minutes on the check-in time. The elevator to my room was not working and a nice house cleaner helped me with my bags to the third floor. I could go on but I won't. They have the audacity to charge a resort fee - for what? I feel they should be paying me, or at least give me credits for putting up with this.

The Marriott website did not disclose the hotel was under construction. I would not have booked except for their failure to disclose material information. By the time we checked-in, it was too late to spend time trying to find another hotel. No doubt this s a deceptive tactic Marriott employed on purpose, based on our conversation with the check-in clerk. We paid a premium for a high-floor view of the ocean and golf course. We received a view of the construction site and the sounds as-if of standing on the LAX tarmac during it's peak take-off and landings. Per the hotel guests can expect loud construction noise between the hours of 7:00am to 6:30pm. There is a labor strike, so we saw the banner protesting the hiring of "rats". Given the importance of construction in such an earthquake prone region, hiring non-union labor doesn't seem like a wise idea. Marriott should be most concerned about safety, first. Safety of the construction methods and materials. Safety and well-being of the people doing the work. Walking past the protesters and signage was a bit unsettling. The hotel's small elevators meant either cramming in with unmasked people or waiting. The unmasked people would pile into the elevators - so we had to defer to their rudeness. Valet service requires a shuttle to the parking lot and then the valet brings the car to you. Self-parking is a shuttle ride to the parking lot and then you retrieve your own car from the parking lot. All of the shuttles I saw were ferrying unmasked guests, which means whatever they were exhaling is all over the inside of those cars - still an efficient way of transmitting COVID. In chatting with a valet, he thought the process Marriott is using, "is insane." We chose to walk the 2/3 of mile (round trip) back and forth to the parking garage.
