I have stayed at this old & tired property twice in the last six months. It is in a great location but is well past it's prime. On my first stay I was given a room in the north tower which is a long walk from the entrance/front desk. The hallways were dark and narrow on the room floors. Not very inviting. The 2nd time I was given a room in the main tower which is an open atrium style building. Although the room was very similar to the one in the other tower, it was a much more pleasant experience. As others have mentioned, the $25 "Resort Fee" is just a money grab and the $35/night for parking is a bit exorbitant as well. Staff was pleasant on my 2nd stay but a bit surly on the 1st. The good news is that this property was recently (NOV 2020) sold for $200M to the owners of the Country Club that is adjacent to the property. They claim that they are planning the much needed renovation to he rooms & public spaces.

Booked this hotel for four nights, and couldn't wait to leave. The property is subpar to many other hotels in the area. Very underwhelming property for being in Newport Beach, especially sitting next to Fashion Island. The plumbing in my room was awful. The Hot handle on the faucet poured onto the counter any time it was on and the shower plumbing was horrible, as well as leaked as well. The bed was comfortable but the pillows were clumpy and sheets were itchy, probably from using too much bleach. There is a $25 daily destination fee that is laughable. It offers a shuttle and bike rental... big whoop. I will not be returning to this property.

This hotel is not close to the beach but it have an great view of the ocean. We stay in the tower side of the hotel. The location is also convenient walk to the Fashion Island Shopping Mall. The Good: - Hotel have nice pool - Great view - The room is very typical of Marriott hotel. Decent size. - Short drive to Newport Beach The not so good: - If you staying in the tower it is little longer walk to the elevator - the hotel starting to look little dated Overall this is a great option for if you looking for little of luxury and shopping but close enough to the beach.

We stayed here for our anniversary & had a wonderful time. It’s an older hotel but they have been upgrading it for years. Very nice pool area and gorgeous views from our room. The staff is very friendly throughout the hotel. Adalgisa, at the front desk, helped us both days & she was very pleasant. The hotel is walking distance to great shopping at Fashion Island outdoor mall. Plus, it’s a short Uber ride to Corona Del Mar and some great places to eat in Newport Beach. There is a very nice indoor Starbucks off the lobby. Highly recommend this hotel. Steve Concialdi

The location of this hotel is good. A 5-10 minute walk to a shopping area with restaurant options too. A 20 minute drive to Balboa Pier where you can catch the ferry to Catalina Island. Marriott Hotels require guests and staff to wear face masks in all common/public areas of the hotel. Upon check-in we were greeted by Brandon Moy who was kind and helpful. I had reserved a room with a partial view of the ocean and he was able to give us a room with a full view of the ocean. The pool is usually open and you have to make reservations ahead of time. When we were there, the pool was closed for maintenance. The pool area looked nice and relaxing. The room was clean and the bed was comfortable. There was a safe in the room along with a small refrigerator. Free unsecured WiFi. Next time we are in the area we will stay here again. Covid virus has caused hotels like Marriott to temporarily close their workout rooms and other amenities in order to keep guests and staff safe. We as customers need to adjust our expectations during this pandemic.
