Nestled in a picturesque setting, The Resort at Pelican Hill captivates many travelers with its opulent pool and sumptuous rooms, though a few guests consider the cost somewhat high. The resort's cleanliness is consistently lauded, with every corner from the grounds to the rooms kept in pristine condition. Luxurious villas, superb golf and spa facilities, along with the breathtaking views, are among the amenities that receive accolades. While the rooms are spacious and well-appointed, a handful of visitors have pointed out slight imperfections and elements that feel behind the times. The tranquil atmosphere of the resort is cherished by guests seeking a serene getaway, despite some remarks about the decor being a tad outdated. The service at Pelican Hill is often described as exceptional, with staff members making notable efforts to deliver an unforgettable experience.

Pelican has long been one of my most favorite resorts I have ever stayed at. I was there over Presidents weekend with my family to play golf and relax. This was our 5th time there over the past 10 years. While the sights and sun of Newport coast never grow old, unfortunately the resort itself is trending hard in the wrong direction. The fine dining restaurant on site Andrea has remained closed post-covid. The only option now is the Colosseum, which lacks any inspiration or decent level of service whatsoever. We waited 30+ min one morning just get greeted and get coffee going. It felt like Europe where you feel like you need to get your order in when someone is actually speaking to you since you may not see them again for a while [and it was very normal volumes, not slammed whatsoever]. This service issue was the same at breakfast and dinner time, and also felt the same at the Grill in the golf club house. Not to mention a boring, dated menu with nothing exciting of note. Quality is passable at best. It just blows my mind that for a resort of this calibre, sitting in one of the wealthiest pockets of planet earth, with countless exotic cars rolling thru the valet, that they roll out this very mediocre food/service situation! What is going on here?! Bunglow rooms are now feeling dated. The size and architecture still make up for that bit, but getting tired. We also had to call and ask for the room to be cleaned 2/3 days. Golf course is a well run operation. Easy shuttle over/back (2 min). They get a ton of play, but the views are spectacular and it is quality resort style golf. Fun holes even if it wont make any best of list. Poa greens were very soft and bumpy with the recent rains. I love the hotel dearly, it is one of my favorite destinations but this underwhelming go around may have us looking at other options next time we are in the area.

This should have been a 5-star review. Lovely buildings and grounds. Great room. Almost all the employees we interacted with were friendly and professional. Excellent food. But ... When we checked out, the front desk refused to give us a summary of our charges. Never seen anything like it. Felt very shady. We were told that, because we had booked through Amex, they couldn't provide a bill. This has not been my experience at any other hotel. When my wife called the concierge to request help with transportation to a nearby restaurant, she was told she could use the hotel's "private limo." When she asked about the approximate cost, they couldn't tell her. The hotel was a few miles away. $1? $500? The concierge really had no clue? Very disappointing.

I’ve stayed at a lot of very nice hotels/resorts over the past 20+ years thanks to my chosen profession. I have had the pleasure of experiencing some of the best service out there but the level of attention to detail that I recently received at The Resort at Pelican Hill was some of the best! A few, small, but memorable and impactful details: ~A book mark placed in the book I was reading where I had dog eared my place ~A sungless cleaning cloth under my sunglasses that were left on the desk ~My various cords wrapped nice and neat secured with a Pelican Hill branded wrap Just to name a few. For me, it’s these little things. The attention to detail. The care that the team showed. These are just a few, small examples of the magical experience at the Pelican Hill resort.

We have had a two-week stay at the resort and it has been amazing. Every person we encountered, whether hospitality in person or on the phone, room service, cleaning, dining and shuttle drivers have all been genuinely interested in our well-being and been so gracious. In particular, I would like to highlight Kim at the Andrea who was incredible, sweet and so professional, as well as Gerard who managed our performances at the Andrea. Those who cleaned our villa every day did an impeccable job! Also, Olivia Halloran was an absolutely PERFECT yoga instructor. She is a gem and leads and guides beautifully. We also really appreciated Fred, our shuttle driver (Faradoun?) and Johnny Reds. Thank you for an incredible stay!

This was our first return visit to the resort in a number of years (at least 5 or 6, if not more). I'm happy to say we had a very nice stay. The staff was unfailingly nice (except for one rude and unmotivated waitress during dinner). Our room was perfect. It was quiet....which is a miracle at many hotels and resorts these days! It is a lovely spot to just chill and relax, and we enjoyed walking the grounds. The pool is amazing! I really loved everything about our stay. We know the area well and we weren't really there to hang out at the resort 24/7, so while it has golfing and outdoor activities on site, the pace may be slow for some guests. There's a lot of fun activities in and around Newport Beach worth examining, too. (I think there's a shuttle to Crystal Cove, always worth a visit.)

Absolutely horrendous experience with a Banquet Server named Louisa and Edgar. I came as a guest for a friends wedding and was assigned these servers to my table. The attitude from Louisa was some of the worst I have ever experienced and want to make you all aware. I will not be coming back here willingly. I wish to see this person reprimanded for the way they treat their fellow co-workers. She should not be able to talk to her guests with such attitude or to her co-workers with such malice.

This resort is absolutely stunning. My only regret is that I did not book a longest day. The concierge was outstanding with the details and the sales team when booking was very accommodating and attentive not to mention swift . We were treated like friendly royalty from all the staff. The grounds, rooms and amenities were absolutely immaculate.

I agree Hannah. Southern California provides for wonderful "stay-cations!" Pelican Hill is a short drive from San Diego, LA, Palm Springs, even Las Vegas. Glad that you were able to enjoy our South Villas - or as we like to say - a home away from home. Sincerely, Gerard Widder Managing Director

Dined at the grill and had very disappointing food. Ordered a salad and tasted like it had sat under a heating lamp. If not that the lettuce was not chilled at all and was warm. Hamburger was ok as were the French fry’s but just average at best. Beautiful room and wonderful views bot everyone at the table thought the food was average at best, salads were poor
