I had one night in the Cuyama Valley and it was great! Was traveling for work and instead of driving over an hour to get back to a chain hotel, I took advantage of the beauty of the valley and relaxed for the afternoon. It was great not needing to leave the property for great food and beverages.

We were in LA and I read a short article about this cool hotel. I then explored its unique location, and realized we could re-route our trip home to SF and avoid much of the Frenzied I-5 with some road tripping in unchartered territory over 166 (to 101) with an overnight and dinner at the Cuyama Buckhorn. Jackpot! (Honestly, on all counts - the Buckhorn, 166, and 101 in lieu of I-5.) The hotel is charming, the bar is perfect in every way (with a shout out to the bartender, who crafts a stellar Manhattan), the food very good. And the setting; so uniquely Californian! When the quiet of the early morning light hits the mountains you can imagine Ansel Adams wanting to capture their majestic solitude and fertile foothills. Kudos to the Buckhorn owners for creating a

We couldn’t have felt more welcomed and taken care of during our two day stay. It’s a tucked away just two hours outside of LA and was such a treat to get away. They also love dogs, so don’t forget to bring your pooch — they get to enjoy the beautiful space too :-)

The Buckhorn has been around since the 1950s. But it's been thoroughly renovated in recent years and is now a luxury-level resort rather than a precursor to the Motel 6. The rooms, the grounds, the bar, restaurant & patio have been updated with the right touch. A nice spot to get away for a weekend.

Two hours north of LA is a remote hotel that is ideal for a group getaway. I recently planned a retreat for about 25 people and we stayed here. We did a complete buy out and had the time of our lives. The food is amazing, the property is restored and very well done and the staff is literally the best I have encountered as an event and travel planner.

We just stayed for a wedding and had the most amazing time. This is an oasis in the middle of the desert! The staff was OUTSTANDING (so helpful, friendly, hardworking) and the attention to detail in each space was immaculate. Can’t wait to return, thank you!!

I stayed here for a wedding, and fell in love with the charm of the cafe, the friendly, ever present staff, and all of the available amenities. I would absolutely visit and stay longer next time! I didn’t get a good chance to explore the surrounding area.

Stayed for a weekend long wedding celebration for good friends. The hotel has great amenities, wonderful staff and delicious food. The food options were delicious and farm to table. The drinks were handcrafted by an amazing bartender. I would definitely recommend to stay at this awesome hotel.

The Cuyama buckhorn is a beautiful, peaceful oasis in the Cuyama Valley, in the high desert. The grounds are kept very clean and their kitchen menu is outstanding. There’s something for everyone. It’s a perfect escape from the city and I highly recommend it.

I can’t say enough good things about this place! Such a cool property - with an amazing staff - so friendly and helpful! The food and drinks at the restaurant and bar were all top notch! And we spent hours in the courtyard playing bocce and swimming in the crystal clear pool!
