I usually hate b&b's because traditionally they are overfilled with doilies, kitsch and general bad taste, but The Inn on First has changed my mind. The rooms are beautiful, and equipped with everything you could want, including a jacuzzi tub, king size bed, and not a doily in sight. A bottle of champagne was waiting for us in our room,...

Dear Juliana G: Guilty as charged! No doilies in the joint! On the other hand, as contemporary as the decor may be, we do have a couple of cool arm chairs that date back to 1945... wedding gifts to my parents. They definitely work with the rest of the living room, and we're proud to know they provide comfort next...

I had not been to Napa in eons, and someone mentioned The Inn on First. So glad we tried it! Incredible rooms (every one has a jacuzzi/spa!), wonderful grounds, such friendly people. We felt at home immediately, and got some wonderful ideas for wineries to visit, good eating places, and a bead shop I loved, from Jim and Jamie, the...

Dear poly p: We are so pleased you enjoyed your time with us. You pretty much nailed most of the details that we get into prior to our guests arrival: dietary restrictions, helping with dining reservations, and the fantastic breakfasts Jim loves to prepare for our treasured guests. I wish we could take credit for the great weather you experienced...

Stayed three nights at the Inn and found it to be a perfect respite from our busy lives. The attention to detail was incredible throughout our entire stay. We scheduled late arrival and wondered what awaited us, given that our hosts were out for the evening. Their emailed directions brought us straight into a well-lit parking lot in a lovely...

Dear Elizabeth M: I'd say about once a week a guest arrives after we've retired for the evening, and I'm happy to say the self check in process works like a charm every time. I cannot do justice in thanking you for your finely crafted words in describing our inn, the rooms and the amenities. It was poetry to us!...

Dear jangeo2011: Thank you for choosing to spend your anniversary with us, and we're grateful to your son for sending you our way. I got a kick reading the word "anticipate" relative to Jim's cooking! Apparently he hooked you at your first breakfast! You can tell he enjoys preparing the breakfast as much as our guests enjoy eating them. It's...

My wife and I went to Napa for the first time and decided on a B&B. We couldn't have been happier. The owners Jamie and Jim were absolutely wonderful. Dear johnbean333: We're always happy to hear we directed our guests in the right direction! Even though we have so many personal winery and restaurant experiences to share with our guests, we're always out visiting more. With so many wonderful wineries to visit, you'd think it would be difficult choosing the right wineries for our guests. But no! We ask...

I had a wonderful last minute stay at this lovely B&B. Jim and Jamie were both wonderful. Jim made us a great breakfast. I think the little things they do go a long way. From the homemade truffles, the complementary split of sparkling wine, the bath salt, filtered water, and large loose leaf tea selection we felt that they went...

Official Description (provided by the hotel)
We are setting the new standard for the American Bed and Breakfast Inn. This is not an inn for traditional B&B people. We are attracting the next generation who want great food for breakfast, well beyond the traditional omelets, frittatas, and egg bakes of old. This is where you get to experience a chef's creative innovation each morning, one of his 130 recipes for breakfast, such as Corndog Omelets, Tomato and Egg Soup with Grilled Cheese Croutons, or S'mores French Toast with house made Marshmallows.WARNING: we do not cater to people who want to stay connected to the television. We purposely removed all televisions so that couples can enjoy the intimacy of whirlpool tubs in the rooms with gas fireplaces, or sit out in the garden sipping on wine and enjoying great conversation. Yes, WiFi is available for those who feel they must stay connected to the outside world, but our hope is that you will learn to leave all that aside to enjoy great Napa hospitality here at the inn and at the wineries. ... more   less
