We chose the Carneros Resort and Spa for a 75th birthday celebration, and what a wonderful three days. We loved our stay in Quail 8 with its luxurious furnishings and delightful garden (an outdoor soaking tub, with leaves from the tree was a treat.) The staff were very welcoming and fun: Sammie at the front desk, Taylor the concierge, Marco, Stephanie at Hilltop (she makes great drinks), the wine guy at the Post, and more. We had excellent spa treatments by Milton and Diana. Melissa at Boon Fly ensured we had a fabulous dinner one night. Using their bicycles for a ride along vineyards full of fall colors. Reading and enjoying the hilltop pools. A most relaxing, restorative, stress-free celebration.

This review is about the spa. When compared to services from other spas, I was surprised that the staff took shortcuts for the price one pays. The ambiance, location, and most of the amenities are nice. The staff was prompt in replenishing supplies and with cleaning.

Wonderful, quiet stay! Celebrated anniversary in a luxurious cabin with our own private outdoor area with fire pit and outdoor shower and large bathtub. Room and spaces were exceptionally clean and all anticipated amenities were provided. The Farm restaurant was amazing. Walking distance from our cabin.

This was our 3rd time at Carneros. What a spectacular property. Upon arrival we had the pleasure of meeting Abi at the resort this trip and I must say he was exceptionally helpful to make sure we were well taken care of and had a great time. He went well above and beyond to make sure our stay was 5 star.

Such a wonderful, peaceful place. It’s a quiet resort interwoven into the farmland. We stayed in a 2 bedroom cottage very close to the front entrance and it was very spacious-great for 2 couples. Definitely take advantage of the gorgeous grounds by exploring all the nooks and crannies. Everything is stunning! The market on site is perfect for morning coffee, breakfast, snacks to have on hand in the cottage and of course a great selection of wines. Adult pool area is nestled into vineyard fields with incredible views of mountains & surrounding land. Staff is friendly & engaging-shout out to Misa who was our favorite. Highly recommend this resort and will definitely return.

We are staying in a vineyard suite for a business/company trip. The large bathroom area has multiple outlets. NONE of them work! They have a lighted makeup mirror and that does not work either! Couldn’t use a hair dryer or curling iron, flat iron. Etc! We notified management 3 days in a row and each day they “fixed” the problem, but the outlets still don’t work! Imagine getting ready for business events trying to do your hair next to a bed outlet looking at a wall - NO mirror because none of the bathroom outlets work!!! Also, our Vineyard suite did not have the wine dispenser, or matches for the fire 🔥 place, outdoor fire pit. This place has amazing views but does not suit the price tag! You are better off saving 50% and staying at Silverado or somewhere else!

Just so we are clear, we will never be staying at Carneros again after coming here every year for 4 years in a row. Before we get into the negatives; the only thing that has been consistently good has been Boomfly which seems like its not part of the resort; because it exists on the outside; and has consistent employeesmanagement. Over the time we have booked rooms here, we have stayed in their bungalows and now on this trip we upgraded to the Home which were much more expensive. They say they give you complimentary breakfast, it’s just a table of meats sitting on a table full of flies. The services at Hilltop restaurant is non existent; they are always understaffed and what comes out of the kitchen always takes forever. They could have brought it out on 4 plates, but it came out a la cart on 20 plates; and they screwed up most of the food they brought out to the table. Over the last few years it has been worse and worse; the first time we had Hilltop you could get excellent breakfast plates and speciality drinks. The menu was extensively then. Now it’s just 4 items on the menu, and everything you ask for is an extra side. Do not go to Hilltop until they fix the service there. The pool up there also needs work; there is deferred maintenance there; and it’s a shame they’ve lost the will to care for their property. When we came back to our room after a day out doing activities; we found the door to our home wide open; their house keeping left everything in our room wide open to whomever wanted to walk into our stuff. We didn’t have to open any door or lock to get access to everything in our room; it was wide open. The air conditioning was shut off after we left it on; and the house was hot; which takes a while to cool down. The water pressure in our room was terrible; and that has not always been the case; but now it’s an issue for sure. It’s like taking a shower in a campsite or motorhome; it’s pretty non-luxurious. Don’t expect much in the bathroom department; the sink in the masters have no counter top or anyplace to store your toiletries; so if you wanted to use any of your stuff; good luck. You get this general feeling they are trying to squeeze any penny they can out of his place; they don’t lift a finger or put any effortmoney back into this place. There is a lot of deferred maintenance and you can tell they have skimped everywhere. Just the toilet paper is the cheapest you can find; it will rip you up. House was not as clean as it could be; outdoor areas were not prepped for guests; and there was cockroaches on the deck upstairs and there was a house mouse that ran through the kitchen probably because they left our home wide open. So seems like they have done something to allow these gross things to happen here. The bedding is gross and smells. We had to insta-cart pillows and blanket from target that we picked up at the front desk. No Joke. Remember guys we are not staying here again. But if YOU are staying here remember to bring your own bedding, shower heads, bug at traps, tools to fix issues in the rooms. This is not a 4-5 star resort. This is a DIY resort. The keys to the home don’t open many of the doors on the property, so you feel locked out. You can’t get back to your house from many of the areas you have to use the garage key to walk thru the car paths. They didn’t think that one through. The service at the high end restaurant is pretty terrible. They have these managers hounding the staff micromanaging them; but they can’t do anything quick. Drinks take 45 mins to get from the bar; which is unacceptable, and food from the kitchen takes over a hour. Just to get the check looked like a very confusing mess that required a manager to overlook the waitress which seemed very unnecessary. Very inefficient staff, and management. You would think a restaurantar would focus on service and getting fooddrinks out to the customers; and focus on customer service. It is the reverse. The front desk is very confused as well; when you call for anything; you need to call twice. If you ask a question they say; oh yeah we could do that, maybe get you a late check out; oh no we can’t do that. Then why say you could? Trying to get someone to pick you up to take you anywhere on property; you need to call twice; and they always say they got a lot of requests; but nobody is here! They are very unprepared. Car service from the resort is an absolute joke. They tell you at the front that they will take you around NAPA to your destination and they will pick you up if they are available. There is a board in the lobby about this amenity; but when we contacted the front desk to go to Napa they required us to pay $125 dollars for a one way ride; when the bellman said they would do that complimentary. They have been under-construction since May, and there has been little or no progress. They do very poor planning when it comes to construction; they could prep to do an area, get it done, then move on. They’ve had areas of the resort closed for months and the staff are optimistic of the changes will be good; but there is little or nothing to show for it. Why not tell the guests when you are booking they are under construction? What’s the capper for this trip? I called for a bellman. Had to call twice. Then I asked for car service to the airport (concord) which I was told they could handle us. Expecting a fee. They told us they could not accommodate us… big shocker. They said they could outsource us to a van company for $450 to airport. I found the cleanest UBER black SUV in the area to drive us for $150 to the airport. What a rip. But we should expect this from this place. Do they have good employees here? Yes. They have some innocent great waitresses and bellmen’s. But their management is so unorganized they have no clue; and it cascades down on the guests.

There's nothing bad to say about this fantastic venue. We attended a wedding, and all the details were handled by the Carneros staff, and everything went off without a hitch. The rooms were spacious with a nice private patio area perfect for coffee in the morning or an afternoon nap. I read they had some glitches during the pandemic, but those problems seem to be completely behind them, and we are sure you will have a fantastic experience.

Do not stay here. When the hotel mistakenly placed us in a room with one bed (even though we are relatives and not a couple and booked a double) the manager shrugged and said too bad that’s all we have left. He claimed that their “system” reflects a single bed reservation. When asked what he would do to help remedy the situation he literally said “we’re not going to do anything.” Can you imagine? No other hotel - from a Holiday Inn to a Four Seasons - would treat a guest like that, for the privilege of a $1,000/night rate. They could have given us a complimentary bottle of wine, or comped the room snacks - anything would have been better than the dismissive slap in the face. Mistakes happen, it is what it is. But the “go f yourself” attitude of the manager in this circumstance turned a mistake into something ugly and ruined the weekend. Also when we first walked into the room with the bellman and said we’re in the wrong room, he said they were making mistakes all weekend and that this was the 5th time someone had been put in the wrong room. So obviously this place is a mess, but they make it worse by being rude and dismissive, and making no effort to make a guest feel better about the situation. Stay somewhere else!

Starting off Carneros grounds and property is beautiful. The landscape is beyond gorgeous. Truly just beautifully done. Our room was also great. The rooms are individual cottages with their own porch, patio, fire pit, etc. we loved sitting outside by our fire pit in the evening and we used the fireplace in our room every night. That being said, I believe management could use some work. Much of the staff was not trained in proper customer service. Every time we had to call for something we needed in our room we had two call two times. We would call, wait 30-40 minutes and then call again before the items were brought. This happened 4 times. Boon Fly Cafe was the worst customer service we received. We went in for coffee and donuts. Once we finally got seated we place our coffee and donut order. We received our items at a reasonable time frame but never saw our waiter again. No coffee refills or “can I get you anything else”. The family sitting next to us had to flag down their waiter three times before he would come to their table. I had to walk up to the host stand to get my bill and pay. Farm was terrible as well. It is under construction so everything is make shift. You wait FOREVER for drinks. Menu is VERY limited. We would be sitting at our table waiting to order or for refills and all of the hostesses and waiters would be congregating at the front chatting with one another. Very insulting. Not to mention, the first morning there we were woke up at 6:30am by the sounds of drills and construction equipment working by the pool. For the price you pay to stay at the property we were very disappointed in the service we received. For the price I think there are probably much better options available.
