This was a one night stay to visit Calaveras State Park. It is very convenient to the park as it is on Highway 4. The suite was good for the 6 of us. The room was clean and comfortable. The kids enjoyed the pool. I'm glad that I had a beach blanket as they had removed all the chairs, and I'm glad they had a small grassy area as it would've been uncomfortable to sit on concrete. Distancing is vital however I don't understand why there couldn't be a few chairs spread apart for people who weren't swimming to sit on. But again - glad I had a blanket! The young lady at the front desk was very kind and nice. She let me use a wine bottle opener which I appreciated. I would stay here again!
We stayed here for our recent ski trip to Bear Valley. We had the king room with the living room area. The location was great - Murphys was the cutest town with lots of restaurants, shopping, and wine tasting. We also visited Moaning Cavern, Angel's Camp and Sonora, which were close and easy to drive to from Murphys. The room was comfortable - plenty of room. It was nice having a mini fridge and microwave, coffee maker, and I liked that the bathroom sink was outside the bathroom. The furniture was old - our couch seemed really old - and the red carpet was dated - but I wasn't really expecting a modern hotel room in the middle of Gold Country. Not sure if all the rooms have the TV's upgraded, but we had flat screen TV's in our room - not the tube TV's that are shown on their website photos. The donuts and OJ delivered to your room in the morning was a cute touch. The staff was attentive, when I mentioned to the front desk that the garbage cans outside were overflowing, he got up right away and took care of it. I would definitely stay there again if I was up in the area.…
the Good Comfortable relatively easy to get to and from if you're headed to any of the locations around Murphy's Donuts in the AM were nice. the Bad Price seemed a bit much for the accommodations The in room decor and amenities were quite dated (but why go to murphy's to stay inside the whole time?) I'd stay there again if it ends up being the cheapest.
We spent one night here after visiting Calaveras Big Trees State Park and before heading to Yosemite Valley. We had a huge room and it was spotlessly clean and comfortable. There was coffee and oreo cookies in the lobby which was a nice touch. There is also a beautiful mural in the lobby. The staff were very nice. We went to a nearby supermarket for food and a very goog local wine (Black Sheep cabernet sauvignon). We didn't know that this was a wine region. The breakfast consists of little donuts and cartons of orange juice. We enjoyed them when we got to Yosemite Valley.
Murphys suites Great location and property, nice that they have clean laundry machine/dryer as we needed to use it. I do think it is overpriced, the weekend pricing is so high for September. Nice staff, donuts were good too.
