Loved it here! The temperpedic bed was super comfy, the people made me feel at home and I loved being able to use a full kitchen. I can't wait to go back. The yard, jacuzzi and porch were great. David helped me with my bags from my car when I arrived and left so the stairs were not a problem. Mary guided me on a spectacular hike and I really enjoyed getting to know them.
What an awesome stay at this sweet bed&breakfast. The hosts of Shasta Mountinn, David and Mary, they are so friendly and helping with anything. The house is just magical: each room is unique and enchants with its style. The rooftop terrace and gardens around is also open for all the guests. We enjoyed it relaxing and just being. The vibes are so positive. And: the view onto Mount Shasta is exceptional! Our room was facing directly towards the mountain and that was just fantastic. It even had a real fireplace! The place is very quiet and within a five-minute walk away from the town's center with coffee's, restaurants, galleries, and stores. We really recommend David and Mary's Mountinn--a place where you feel home. We will come again soon.
Great, very quiet location, beautiful property & views, friendly owners, very clean and lots of yummy treats in both kitchens! This is my second stay at this fully restored old home - the owners keep the grounds and property very clean and it shows pride of ownership both inside and out. I love the Edson Room (very large), but my favorite is the Twin Peaks Room upstairs (very comfortable with beautiful views of the mountain) - great room to relax, meditate or write your next book. The grounds are beautiful and a sauna and hot tub are available. Highly recommend!
Shasta Mountinn is a great place to relax. We stayed at the Secret’s room and took advantage of the fireplace during the cold nights. The house is well heated and has a great sauna and hot tube to help relax the muscles after a day of outdoor activities. David is a great host, easy to reach and offered his space and fridge full of items for us to prep our breakfast. We will definitely be back and recommend anyone wanting some rest and relaxation!
Accommodations were comfy and calming. Loved the swinging glider where I could watch humming birds. Open kitchen allowed us to cook and eat whatever we wanted. The innkeeper is friendly and helpful in recommending hikes and restaurants in town.
First off, Dave and the help are super friendly and helpful. Dave does not cook breakfast, so you can eat when you like, but he will get anything you want and keep it in a little kitchen reserved for the guests. You can also keep any food you might need refrigerated in another fridge. He also has some snacks. I was there when it was so hot and the A/C felt so good. There is a small sauna and a spa that is always hot. The grounds are so relaxing and beautiful. So quiet and peaceful. Shower is small and we did not share a bathroom. No elevator. I think maybe five rooms. There area few games, TV, and a fireplace(not that we needed it). A foot massager (2) are there for use.
While visiting family in Mt. Shasta, Hubby and I stayed at the Shasta MountInn and it was wonderful!! Our host, David, bent over backward to ensure we were comfortable, and the house and grounds were so beautiful and peaceful it was hard to leave! Sitting on the back patio was a delight. We enjoyed the "make your own breakfast" routine so we could do as much or as little as we wished. It was too hot to enjoy the hot tub but it looked amazing.
If I could rate this B&B 100 stars I would. SERVICE From the moment we arrived at this beautiful place owner David Knowles took amazing care of us. He carried our luggage, he fed us well, he recommended good hikes and decent restaurants, he made us feel at home 24/7. A few examples of excellent service— 1. We wanted to star gaze on the mountain- Without missing a beat, Mary (David’s beloved) offered us sleeping bags and head lamps to borrow. 2. Our rental SUV was filthy from all of our hiking trips. On the morning we were to leave we went outside to pack up the truck and David had washed our vehicle! We thanked him and showed him a long scratch on the truck and he immediately buffed the scratch out! 3. We always returned late in the evening and David would wait up to make sure we arrived safely. 4. I mentioned to David my friend likes strawberry jam. Sure enough next morning he had a fresh jar in our kitchenette. THE B&B This house is beautiful! David does a great job decorating and keeping the place looking fresh and clean. The rooms had Tempurpedic beds and pillows, comfy robes, and fireplaces. After long days of hiking we would relax in the jacuzzi and then receive quality foot and leg massages from 2 machines he had in the house. The grounds are gorgeous and well maintained. There’s a beautiful view of Mt. Shasta in the back yard. David has hummingbird feeders, fairy houses, comfy gliders, outdoor blankets, a private jacuzzi, sauna and a fire pit all for everyone to use at any time. The grounds are so beautiful I could see coming to David’s B&B just to relax and sit outside. In the evening everything is lit up with solar lights. The place becomes even more magical. NO MASKS NECESSARY We did not have to wear masks at David’s B&B. I for one was relieved. First of all the place is small with only 6 to 8 guests total. Secondly, David wants to create a relaxing homey vibe. He feels (as do I) that masks take away from that calm vibe. IN CONCLUSION Whenever I return to Mt. Shasta I will always stay at David’s B&B. It is as magical as the mountain herself. You can feel the love and friendship both David and Mary exude to all of their guests. To me and my friend it really was “home away from home” 💜…
Vacationer beware. When on a call to book a room I inquired if the sauna was still in operation during covid and the owner said yes and he volunteered his beliefs that the covid scare was a fallacy and it was was nothing more than an overtrumped flu virus, he also said he did not like his guests wearing masks. He asked if I would wear a mask and if I would wear one even outside, when I said 'yes because that's the law" and said I'd wear it around people, he refused my stay. He said he didn't want his customers to be in fear because of any masks people wear. I said I see wearing masks as a respect to my health and to the other person's health but he didn't share that view and wouldn't let me book a room. It's a shame as I was really looking forward to staying here and he seemed like a nice guy in general but very ignorant and defiant regarding covid safety. I'm very sad I'm being denied room and board FOR following current health and safety standards for myself and others.…
We spent a wonderful night with David and interesting other international guests at the Shasta Mountinn Retreat on a recent drive North for the holidays. It was a perfect respite, and David takes wonderful care of his guests — including a thoughtful selection of snacks at all hours and a fabulous breakfast. Can’t imagine a nicer spot to stay and enjoy unobstructed views of Mount Shasta!
