I recently popped into moss landing enroute to san francisco. It's the type of quient beach town you see in movies, maybe with an east coast flair. art and antique stores, whale watching and plenty of vessels docked around, a harbor restaurant called Phil's with top-shelf cioppino and local artichokes served a variety of ways. The fire roasted was submlime!... More

This was the perfect place to complete a 2 week trip to California. Melanie welcomed us at the door and was always available to help us plan our time there. Our room was spotless, the bed was super comfortable, the view from our room was serene and interesting. Melane left a pair of binoculars and several wildlife books by the... More

In February we stayed at the Captain's Inn for our 5th or 6th time-we love it so much that we cannot keep track. Room is absolutely spotless with added touches like flowers and cookies! Breakfast is homemade and we always leave full. Many B&B's do not serve a full breakfast and Melanie does. Contrary to some other statements, she easily... More

I wanted a weekend getaway somewhere not too far from home that would help me relax with my girlfriend after a very hectic holiday season. The Captain's Inn was just the place. The rooms are cozy, with nautical themes to make you feel like you're on board a ship. The rooms we stayed in looked out on a little estuary... More

Here it was New Years Eve, we stopped in Moss Landing for a late lunch and hoped to find a place to stay for the night. We happened upon Phil's Fishery Market & Eatery (Bobby Flay had been there recently for a Cioppino throwdown) the place was swarming. Needless to say our lunch was incredible. Seeing a vacancy sign at... More

My husband and I immensely enjoyed our stay at the Captain's Inn. We stayed in the "Sail Away" room which we will definitely try to get the next time we come up. From the moment we checked in, we couldn't take our eyes off the view--birds and marine mammals constantly cruise through the estuary and the light changes the hues... More

The weather forecast had announced a stormy weekend all over California but it was my birthday and my husband had booked rooms at the Captain’s Inn I Moss Landing so we went. And I’m glad we did. Moss Landing, tucked between Monterey and Santa Cruz is a walking historic little town where old buildings host restaurants, galleries, shops and the... More

This place has one major thing going for it - the view. We stayed in one of the rooms with a view, but the lower-cost ones in that category - the ones with a double shower rather than a spa bath - and we did indeed get that view, with two very comfy seats pointing straight out at it. Additional... More

From the moment we checked in to The Captain's Inn for our family reunion (women only!!), we were treated like special friends, not just guests. Our rooms (we had booked four of the ten rooms) were ready and waiting for us to settle in. We got a complete tour of our rooms and the grounds and some suggestions for dinner... More

Although we only live a 2 hour drive away, it was a really nice getaway. We stated in the High Seas room on the 2nd floor, and it was more than worth it for the view. Just be aware that the upstairs rooms don't have a shower, just a large tub. Melanie knows all the local spots, and cooks a... More
