If you are looking for a romantic and cozy getaway, we are the place. In the evening, you can capture the beautiful sunsets from your room in the Boathouse or on one of the 2 decks. The waterfront view is breathtaking. There is always an amazing array of wildlife including sea otters, birds, harbor seals and wild turkeys nearby. You can take a brisk walk on the local sandy beach or take a relaxing stroll through our little community. Almost everything in our community is within a short walking distance. We are located in a very peaceful and relaxing setting. Away from the hustle and bustle of the nearby cities. We are centrally located between Monterey and Santa Cruz, 1 block off Hwy 1.

I just got home from a short vacation to Moss Landing and stayed at The Captain's Inn. I loved everything about my stay. The view from my room (Pelican Beach) over the Old Salinas River was nothing short of spectacular--and it was aptly named. You'll spot dozens of pelicans and other shore birds, and the Inn conveniently provides some binoculars in the room. If you take a short walk over the little bridge at the harbor, you can jump on a trail at the park there that runs along the river--perfect for a peaceful stroll. And right on the other side of the dunes there, you're at the ocean. I really appreciated the thoughtful accommodations there. With the current virus concerns, everything was kept no-contact and the room and property are spotlessly clean. Breakfasts and coffee were delivered right to my door and were delicious. There was an apple bread pudding/French toast kind of thing on my second morning that was out of this world! I loved my deep soaking tub that overlooked the river. Relaxing in a sunset-view bath after a day of kayaking on Elkhorn Slough was blissful. There were even nice bath salts in the room to make it that much more spa-like. 100% would stay here again and again. It was a perfect visit!

We came here for our adapted COVID-style babymoon, and enjoyed every second. The room was clean and airy. The bathtub was INSANE. Breakfast was hot and delivered with kindness. Heather really went above and beyond to make us feel loved and cared for. We spotted so many different types of bird and wildlife... and ate at Phil's every day! Thankful. We will be back!

We spent 3 nights in the "Sanctuary" room on the lower level of the "Boat House" of this lovely, well cared for hotel. Heather and her staff were well aware of Covid-era concerns. Check in was hands free. The room was spotless. Delicious breakfast was delivered each morning to a stand outside the door. The room had an expansive view of the egrets, cormorants and gulls playing on the Salinas River. To stay cozy, there was an electric fireplace. Our only complaints were sound proofing and lack of safety rails in the shower and toilet areas. The 3 upstairs rooms in the boat house have in-room jacuzzi tubs. The second night, we had a couple staying above us who, honest to God, filled and played in their tub 3 times in 18 hours! This clearly is a romantic hideaway for couples; but it's too bad that some people can't be more considerate of their neighbors during sleep hours. Be that as it may, the entire property was perfect for a little relief from staying at home. The proximity to the many creatures of the Salinas river and Elkhorn Slough, and the fantastic ciappino at Phil's Fish House will keep this inn high on our return list.

As one would imagine the rooms have a nautical theme. Very clean wit a view of the ocean and the inlet. I saw otters and seagulls constantly from the wall of windows. The shower has a window that looks out the wall of windows. Great peaceful place to unwind. I had the river view room.

My girlfriend and I stayed here in early June and couldn't have been happier. Heather is Awesome! She made us feel right at home (great home cooked breakfast) and was incredibly sensitive and prepared with respect to Covid 19. I can ensure you that your stay will be safe. Our room "Sail Away" was magnificent. The soaking tub and views were fantastic. Plenty of wildlife to enjoy! Very close to the Marina, restaurants and most importantly the beach. We'll be back! Thanks again Heather! Mark and Misty
