Rooms are clean, staff is friendly, prices are reasonable. 5 minute walk to downtown Morro Bay and the Embarcadero. I live in Morro Bay and frequenty have friends and family stay at the Sandpiper and they're always satisfied.

Hotel's Favorite
The motel was clean and quiet. The rooms, while not the largest, were comfortable and contained everything we needed including the fridge, microwave and coffee machine. The location was perfect within walking distance of the main area and provided free parking. Overall very good value for money!

When we travel to this area, we always stay here. The rooms have a beach/ocean theme and are always clean. The grounds are well maintained. Some of the rooms have great bay and ocean views and you can hear the surf at night. We love the location, walking distance to restaurants and the water

Located at south end of Main St. Basic accommodation. A TV, fridge, microwave, writing table and eating table with terribly low chairs. One had major rip. Only one towel per person....no hand towel. Packet coffee in room. So.w rooms gave chair and table outside room. Two stories.

Nothing to complain! You can feel, that the owner is taking care of this lodge. The room was very clean and in nice sea colors. We enjoyed our stay and have been very satisfied with our stay. Its close to restaurants, but quite during the nighttime.

This is our second time here. We made our reservation well in advance so we could get a ground floor room with a view of Morro Rock. Sparkling clean, well maintained, friendly manager. Easy walk to the waterfront and downtown shops. This is our annual Valentine's Day romantic getaway and it is especially nice this year as things are opening up after the pandemic. We'll be back.

Clean, friendly, quiet, good sized room, decent hot water pressure (unlike most places in this price range), comfortable bed, good linen and towels, 3 blocks from downtown, fridge and microwave, everything you want at a really low price. Overall much nicer than any budget placed I've stayed in years.

We enjoy staying here. The management is very helpful and accommodating and the room is very nice. We’ve been here twice and will definitely come again. We love Morro Bay and the friendly, relaxed attitude of the people. Sandpiper just caps it off.

After reading some of the others experiences at this motel, I was shocked to have been in the same place they were. I don't know if it was that we had a different room than they did but we certainly didn't encounter any of the negative aspects of the place that they did. Our room was small but very efficient, it had a refrigerator and everything that we needed. The bathroom was clean and well taken care of. You have to realize, for the money you have to expect that this is not a five star motel. Suffice it to say that it met every one of our needs including the fact that we saved money by staying here and it's central location provided us walking distance to many of our favorite places in town. Add to that the fact that the staff was very pleasant to us when we were here. All in all, would return.

We had an extremely negative experience here. We're a couple who had booked a room for two nights. On the first night, we were awoken at 4:30am by a very large (6'x3') framed painting that had been hanging above the bed falling directly on top of us. Amazingly, although we were both hit, neither of us was seriously injured, but it was a very frightening experience and neither of us was able to fall back asleep. In the morning, we discovered the painting had been hanging by a single, shallow nail. It was clearly a disaster waiting to happen. Later that morning, we brought the painting into the office and explained what had happened to the female owner. She was very apologetic and offered to refund us one night. We left to go sightseeing and received a voicemail from her husband in the afternoon, asking us to call him. We stopped by the office, and not only was he entirely unapologetic about the painting falling on us, he seemed to want to blame us for something and repeatedly asked why we were remaining at the hotel. Even after we explained that we weren't checking out a day early as that'd only cause more trouble for us (and negate the free night we'd been offered), he doubled down and aggressively told us he expected us to be gone by now. We were willing to move past the painting falling (although someone could have been seriously injured), but basically being labeled as trouble makers for bringing this incident to management's attention made us feel the need to make this review so others know what they're getting into. To sum up, we don't recommend staying here, but if you do, check the paintings before you go to bed.
