Decided to do a quick weekend getaway after sheltering in place for the past 7 months. We picked this place for the great view afforded by the Deluxe King Bay View room and there is a restaurant right next door for an easy take out option.

The Deluxe Bay View room had an unobstructed view of Morro Rock which was great. The room had a comfy bed, a faux fireplace that kept the room warm at night which was great because it was cold and windy this past week. The room had a desk, a small round table along with a lounge chair. There was a separate sink next to the microwave and fridge which was nice. The fridge was roomy and a freezer section which you don't always see. The bathroom had a roomy counter which is always nice. The shower had good water pressure and appreciated the strong heat lamp. There was a Keurig coffee machine too. Everything in the room was very clean.

The TV was pretty big, around 55" at least but the cable signal was not HD. At least you got most of the standard cable channels but, no HBO. The wifi signal wasn't the fastest but was adequate for general web surfing.

The staff at the hotel were terrific and very friendly. We had a problem with the wall heater and the gal working the late shift by herself just knocked herself out trying to help us. It was so much appreciated.

Because of covid, they could not offer continental breakfast but, you can choose some basic items like juice and a cinnamon roll or a nutri-gran bar. Again, Dorn's Breakers Cafe is right next door is you want a full breakfast. The Inn is right in the middle of town so you are close to everything.

Make note that some rooms in the west building require stairs while there is an elevator in the east building. The Deluxe Bay View Room is on the ground floor in the west building so there weren't any stairs. There is limited parking for the west building so you may have to park in the lot for the east building.

This is our fourth year in a row we've gone to Morro Bay but, our first time staying at the Blue Sail Inn. We definitely stay here again.

We got the 3 floor balcony room, with bay view, room in the east building. Excellent view of the "Morro Rock" and the boats in the harbor, large room. Table and chairs on the balcony, have a glass of wine and enjoy the view. Nice sheltered parking with elevator up to rooms, luggage carts are inside at elevator stops on each floor. They have continental breakfast, not great, but ok. Very helpful, friendly staff.

This is a rather old school large motel overlooking the harbor at Morro Bay. The rooms are fairly large, although furnishings are somewhat old school. The motel feels like its main purpose and clientele relates to the harbor and the many seafood restaurants along the water.
There is no breakfast per se, although they do offer small amounts of breakfast snacks, and a small drink along with the coffee in the room. This may be a vestige of COVID which they havent updated.
They also have not updated room cleaning, which occurs only once every three nights. This practice, fairly unique to the US, is unfair as the room rates dont reflect the lack of service and the help is out of work.
The WiFi runs at very low bandwidth. So, if you are planning on watching a movie or some other streaming content, plan on a lot of stops and starts. Most motels have gotten beyond this.
It is priced competitively for the area, and especially the location. They do offer some deals for three night stays, which seems a bit long for this location unless you are really into local activity.

Stayed in a one bedroom on the first floor. Immediately saw that pretty blue blanket on end of the bed in all the pictures was not there. In fact, none of the rooms we saw had it, so the room was furnished like a motel, very plain. Went to go outside; the screen door fell off the track. My husband couldn't fix it, so we closed it as best we could, and decided that we shouldn't keep opening it and closing it. So, balcony was not usable. Went to use the sink in the bathroom. Cold water worked, but when you moved the handle to hot, it just came out as a tiny trickle. Had to use the shower to warm the washcloth. But here's the worst part. Instead of coming over to try it, the lady at the desk rudely said the hot water DID work, even if it wasn't as high pressure as I wanted it. I asked to see the manager and she said she'd be there later. Later came, and she said the manager left. Next day, the manager told me the hot water worked and gave us a $35.00 credit. We would have much rather had repairs done. When I talked about the screen door, she said that worked as well. I guess if something works AT ALL, they think it's fine at the Blue Sail Inn. Also, "breakfast," is a joke; a bagel, or a snack bar or similar, and juice or coffee. Oh, and hope you don't mind waiting outside the lobby window for 20 minutes or so, while the one person working answers calls at the same time she's waiting on you. P.S. Bring shampoo and conditioner. You get one or the other with lotion, but not both (we found this when we changed rooms).

I booked online directly with the Blue Sail Inn, and somehow managed to misunderstand what I had booked. We were in town for three days to attend a memorial. I was looking for an inn that had an outdoor patio, since being able to sit outdoors with my coffee in the morning is a favorite daily ritual. I thought when I booked the King room with the ocean view, that was what I was getting based on the description and the picture. When we arrived and I asked about the patio, I was told that we have a window with a view but no patio. They were fully booked so they couldn't move us. The room itself was large, and if you don't mind not being able to sit outside, the bay window gave a great view of Morro Rock. Additionally, the small fridge, real drip coffee maker (and not those ridiculous Keurig machines), and small microwave were added bonuses. Midway through the stay, the air conditioner/heating unit decided to stop working, and a terse response from the desk, and a two hour wait for a flustered housekeeping services person to show up with a space heater wasn't ideal. We mostly like the noise of the fan to drown out the noise of other guest, and this unit, was "motion activated" or some such thing, so was pretty useless. The location is wonderful, and if we were to consider staying there again, I would not rely on booking online, and would call directly to get the room we want. But then again, with a number of other options, we are just as likely to try another hotel.

The hotel is pretty large. I had a room with a bay view and it looks right onto Embarcadero Road and the bay. The room has Keurig coffee machine and small fridge. My room was very clean and nice. I really missed having maid service but staff was always cheerful and gave me towels whenever I asked. (Bring back cleaning of rooms please). The breakfast they offer is ridiculous. You pick a beverage (milk, OJ or Apple Juice) and 2 selections from a choice of cheese stick, a breakfast bar of some type, apple sauce, or a packaged pastry, They really may as well save their money on that offering. But I did have some cheese sticks for flight home. The bed is not very comfortable though. It has no cushion at all. But location, cleanliness and interactions with staff made it a nice stay

Booked this place because it was next door to our favorite Morro Bay restaurant, DORN'S Breakers. They are supposed to have a great view of the Rock, the Embarcadero and the Bay This is all true but I am afraid that is about it. The room we had even though it had some upgrades was old and well worn. Patio screen door was very torn and tattered. The TV was a big flat screen but had a terribly fuzzy picture. This was an EXPENSIVE per night motel because of the view and amenities(?). HOWEVER, we had to empty our own trash, make our own bed, secure new towels and clean up the room ourselves. They claimed it was because of the pandemic. Excuses and belly buttons, everybody seems to have one!!! In my opinion it was just a rip off because they did not reduce the nightly rate and subsequent tourist taxes. I doubt seriously that we will be back, there are too many good motels in Morro Bay to choose from.

Our vacation took us on a route from Palm Springs to Morro Bay along the Pacific Coast Highway...beautiful! After a recommendation from friends, we stayed at the Blue Sail Inn since we were going to staying in Morro Bay and tasting wine in Paso Robles, only a half hour away. First, the rooms are very nice, very clean and well kept. The staff is very nice and accomodating as well. Keep in mind with COVID that they are not doing daily housekeeping and that is more than understandable. The views of Morro Bay and Morro Bay rock are beautiful from your large balcony! You may have a friendly visit on your balcony from one of the local sea gulls who are real hams. The restaurant, Dorn's, is right next door and was our favorite of the entire trip. They serve breakfast, lunch and dinner, and if you like good, fresh seafood, this is your place. We will definitely be back for another stay in the near future!

Perfect location! Clean rooms, clean parking lot, clean lobby and clean balcony. Great parking and they had carts to take your luggage to the room right there super easy. The staff was fabulous! Melanie and the other front desk ladies were exceptionally accommodating. Almost attached is Dorn's Breakers Cafe that has a really good breakfast and dinner. Our Oceanview room with balcony was so peaceful watching the beautiful moon over the Morro Bay rock the boats and kayaks.
We walked from our room to the waterfront and did some shopping. We strolled along Embaraderro enjoyed the shopping and a cocktail. We walked up to their quaint little town. Blue Sail Inn was the perfect place to stay. Perfect location right in the middle of everything you could want to do.

Our extra large room was clean, comfortable, and quiet. Check in was easy, though they have an overly complicated grab and go breakfast menu that requires you to make your selection the night before. We opted out, but the friendly receptionist gave us a couple of bottles of OJ as we departed. Well located just one street off the main street of shops and restos. I appreciated that they did not tack on the unexplained additional traveler's fee that many other hotels required, and cancellation policies were quite fair.
