I decided to go on a road trip to escape the lockdown blues and also check off an item on my bucket list. I've always wanted to go here for cultural reasons. Morro Bay is regarded as the spot the first Filipinos set foot on Northern America soil in 1587. I came to see the commemorative plaque that was placed there. The hotel was listed as a two star and it provided a comfortable bed. I got a single, king bed for me and my friend but there were only two very airy pillows. Once you laid your head on one, it would flatten and the sides would rise up beside your head. I had to fold it in half to get an okay support for my head. The amenities were sufficient for the one night stay. The location was near perfect for my historical and tourist sightseeing goals. The hotel was also only a couple of blocks from the waterfront where the majority of tourist shops were open till 8pm due to the lockdown.…
Wifi was inconsistent. Bathtub was missing stopper so only shower was working. Toilet paper holder was not attached properly to the wall. Trash in parking garage. Huge dumpster parked in front of hotel and people were scavenging it. Ants in room including on bed linens. Light fixture for balcony was not attached to wall and just sitting on railing. Have been here before but never again. It is evident management is incompetent or does not care or both.
We spent one night here. It was a pleasant hotel with an excellent location near the centre and the sea. It was clean and comfortable. The staff were excellent, especially the girl who was working the late afternoon - early evening shift (I'm sorry I don't remember your name!). We needed to use the laundry but we were confused about how to operate it as it asked for 50c coins?! She helped us figure it out so we were able to do our laundry, but when we wanted to use the dryer, the fuse blew in the laundry room! She let us use the dryer in the housekeeping room so we could dry our clothes. Thanks again for all your help. The room itself is large, nicely decorated and clean, although it is a little tired. The hotel was clearly designed with a lot of love and care and you can find literature in the room explaining how the owners bought the hotel and how the lovingly created this place, which makes it even more shocking that there were 3 huge rips in our net curtain! I had actually seen this in one of the reviews I'd read before booking so it didn't surprise me but why leave it like that, especially when it was mentioned in previous reviews?? I am not sure if more than one room has this rip in the curtain or if we got that specific room by coincidence but for something that is so easy and cheap to fix, why they would leave it like that is very hard to understand.…
Nice from the front. Nice, roomy lobby with friendly staff. All rooms are interior which is nice. Room was clean and roomy. Breakfast included but we didn't get a chance to try it as it didn't open until 7:30am. However, they did make a sack breakfast for us (boiled egg, fruit, yogurt) which was nice. The room had a microwave, coffee maker, and mini fridge. Price seemed a little steep for what it is.
We were there with friends to see a concert. When we got there, we found out we could upgrade to a suite for just a few dollars more. The suite wasn't worth it. To the hotel's credit, it was an upgrade in their opinion, just not my preference. The mattress was memory foam (we don't like memory foam) and the bed had an elaborate headboard and footboard. We tend to sleep with our feet hanging off and the footboard would be in the way. The room we ended up with had an adjoining room. We could hear our neighbors who had a small child. They checked out, but we could hear our new neighbors. This room had a footboard, but it wasn't attached to the bed, rather, bolted to the floor. Future stays at this hotel will request a room that is not adjoining, not memory foam and no footboard. You can see the bay from a 2nd floor room, but the view is mostly of the other buildings between you and the bay. The breakfast consists of yogurt, cereal, hard boiled eggs, grocery store pastries, waffle batter (make your own) and some fruit, with tea, coffee and hot cocoa mix. We made reservations at Dorn's for a much better breakfast.…
