Gorgeous hotel in an excellent location in Morro Bay, a stone's throw (uphill, but really a stone's throw) to get to/from the seafront with all the little shops. Large rooms (we took a quadruple room) with a very nice bathroom (bathroom products from "DOVE") and along all the corridors lots of paintings, books and even identification tables in the lift for birdwatching enthusiasts (very common here) . The hotel offers free Tesla charging (slow but effective) and considering this plus breakfast included plus parking included (which is not a given in the USA) the price is affordable (around 200 per night for 4 including taxes). Ah, as soon as we got into the port an otter 2 meters away was clapping with its belly up while swimming... in short, we will definitely go a second time, highly recommended!

This is a very nice hotel we have stayed here numerous times. My only complaint this time is since we stayed a couple of days we should have made sure we had enough Coffee, toilet paper , soap and tissue. Since you get no housekeeping during your stay and I have no problem with that we ran out of the necessities we normally take for granted and had to keep going down to the desk to get the replacements. Most staff are very friendly but the housekeeping person I talked to when asking for a second coffee cup for the room kind of questioned me why I needed a second cup. I guess my wife could share a coffee cup if it’s such a problem.

All was good at La Serena Inn. Great location (easy walk to town or to the Embarcadero for food and shopping or walking out to Morro rock) place was very clean. Room was spacious and comfortable. Would be nice to have a hook or two to hang towels in the tub/shower area. Continental breakfast included 7:30-9:30. I felt they could’ve had a little better selection ( add bagels and an additional cereal selection possibly) they no longer have scrambled eggs & sausage - only hard boiled eggs, waffles, oatmeal, cereal and some baked options. It was typical of a free breakfast. We ate there one day and the other walked to The Hungry Fisherman for breakfast ( it was delicious). We will definitely stay here again. Staff was friendly and we felt safe there.

Normally La Serena Inn is a great place to stay while in Morro Bay however my most recent stay was less than ideal. The clerk was pleasant and easy to work with, but we waited 20+ minutes for the front desk clerk to come to the counter so that we could check in.

We stayed at La Serena Inn because normally they have a good breakfast but that was not the case. The oatmeal was very watery, all of the coffee containers were out of coffee, and the food selection was very limited. They had a waffle maker but no eggs or protein (bacon, sausage, ham), no fruit, and no yogurt. Some visitors who were not from the United States didn't know how to use the waffle machine and the attendant saw this and didn't do anything to help them.

The rooms were clean and equipped with everything that we needed. The beds were pretty worn out and soft but clean. I was also surprised that at exactly 11:00am there was a knock at one of our rooms, the Cleaner looked at her watch and asked if we were leaving, then we got a call at the other room asking if "we needed more time", in other words, are you checking out soon? I realize that checkout is 11:00am and if I stay here again, I will definitely ensure that I checkout prior to 11:00am as there is no grace period given. Funny, I didn't complain when we had to wait 20+ minutes to check in but they were quick to get us checked out.

Great location and service. When visiting Morro Bay, we only stay at La Serena Inn. My husband loves to surf early, so the 7:30 am breakfast is perfect. Our children also love the complimentary breakfast. I would suggest a different mix for the waffles as they always end up empty in the middle.

We spent one night here. It was a pleasant hotel with an excellent location near the centre and the sea. It was clean and comfortable. The staff were excellent, especially the girl who was working the late afternoon - early evening shift (I'm sorry I don't remember your name!). We needed to use the laundry but we were confused about how to operate it as it asked for 50c coins?! She helped us figure it out so we were able to do our laundry, but when we wanted to use the dryer, the fuse blew in the laundry room! She let us use the dryer in the housekeeping room so we could dry our clothes. Thanks again for all your help. The room itself is large, nicely decorated and clean, although it is a little tired. The hotel was clearly designed with a lot of love and care and you can find literature in the room explaining how the owners bought the hotel and how the lovingly created this place, which makes it even more shocking that there were 3 huge rips in our net curtain! I had actually seen this in one of the reviews I'd read before booking so it didn't surprise me but why leave it like that, especially when it was mentioned in previous reviews?? I am not sure if more than one room has this rip in the curtain or if we got that specific room by coincidence but for something that is so easy and cheap to fix, why they would leave it like that is very hard to understand.

Hi There! sorry for the late response! I am so sorry for your experience with the curtain, we thought that we had gotten all of the damaged ones taken care of but must have missed that one. Good news is that since your stay we have been remodeling our hotel and guest rooms and will be tackling our standard rooms this fall. We hope someday in the future if you return to California that you'll stop by and check out our remodel. Thanks again for staying with us!

Hotel with marine style furnishings and accessories, white, blue and shells, fragrant and clean. Large room. Convenient covered garage. Quality bathroom products. Decent breakfast, even if the room was a bit small but the weather wasn't the best, otherwise the terrace is also available. Furthermore, breakfast hours could be extended (only until 9:30). We had a room on the second floor and there is no elevator. Unfortunately there is carpet but it still gave the impression of being clean compared to what is around. Be careful of the deposit which is not refunded immediately. The location is on the hill, a few minutes walk from the bay.

We were there with friends to see a concert. When we got there, we found out we
could upgrade to a suite for just a few dollars more. The suite wasn't worth it. To the hotel's credit, it was an upgrade in their opinion, just not my preference. The mattress was memory foam (we don't like memory foam) and the bed had an elaborate headboard and footboard. We tend to sleep with our feet hanging off and the footboard would be in the way. The room we ended up with had an adjoining room. We could hear our neighbors who had a small child. They checked out, but we could hear our new neighbors. This room had a footboard, but it wasn't attached to the bed, rather, bolted to the floor. Future stays at this hotel will request a room that is not adjoining, not memory foam and no footboard. You can see the bay from a 2nd floor room, but the view is mostly of the other buildings between you and the bay. The breakfast consists of yogurt, cereal, hard boiled eggs, grocery store pastries, waffle batter (make your own) and some fruit, with tea, coffee and hot cocoa mix. We made reservations at Dorn's for a much better breakfast.

Great location! Very short walk to shops, restaurants. Hotel was clean. My room had a great view of the Morro Rock. The free breakfast was great! Loved the free use of reading books, desktop computer and printer on every floor. The outdoor patios were very nice. Will definitely come back here for another stay! My one suggestion: add hooks to back of bathroom doors and walls to hang used, wet towels, robes, etc.

While staying there, we did see dogs with guests. There is an elevator which should make it easier to transport pets outside. I am not sure where exactly it is that petrs are supposed to do their business as the grounds themselves are on the small side.
