Quant hotel, checked in ok, issue with tv but quickly sorted, but if you like to eat comfortably then do take your own cutlery! The basic breakfast facility officiated by the breakfast police, service is 7.30 x 9.30, with the electrical appliances switched off at 9.30 on the dot!! And guests are manoeuvred out as soon after in military fashion. Breakfast was adequate but for heavens sake, it’s breakfast, should be the main meal of the day and who wants cheap plastic picnic cutlery to try and eat with. I realise it may be a throwback following the pandemic but hey we have moved on some.

Amazing place to spend a few nights as a base to explore not only Morro Bay but we day tripped to Pismo Beach and Hearst Castle is nearby to. Amazing breakfast, nice rooms, coffee all day and staff were very friendly. Shower head could be taller. Nice lounge areas on each floor, ice machines, and two sun decks.

I was hoping to love the La Serena Inn, but I am afraid I came away with mixed feelings after staying three nights. The front desk definitely needs a remedial course in dealing with guests. Someone needs to remind them that they are in the "hospitality business." When we checked in there was no welcome. Why not offer a, "Good afternoon," or, "Welcome to the La Serena." We walked through the lobby a number of times, and can't remember once when the clerks looked up to acknowledge us (let alone smile). And it wasn't as if they were busy. The property was probably only half-filled during our mid-week stay. We chose to stay in a partial bay view room. For those deliberating, I'd save the extra $30/night. The balconies are small, and the view is minimal. Our true view was the parking lot of the adjoining bank. The rooms themselves are good-sized, but my mattress had seen better days. Since the beds don't have box springs (they rest on a platform), it's important that mattresses be replaced on a regular basis. Because of the wear on one-side, it almost felt as if I was on a slope. One thing I like about the property is that it has a lending library. Unfortunately, there was very little to choose from. I suggest management go to a local thrift store and replenish the offerings. The best thing about the property is the breakfast. Both servers (a young tattooed woman, and an older woman) were friendly and efficient. The breakfast selections (eggs, sausage, fruit, oatmeal, and cereal) were frequently replenished by a cheerful, smiling staff. All in all, the La Serena Inn is a mixed bag. The room was large and spotlessly clean. All the amenities needed, fridge, iron etc. Brilliant location, less than 5 minute walk to the water front restaurants and a great view of Morro Rock. Would book this again if we were to ever visit pass through Morro Bay again.

We booked and stayed two nights. The morning we were checking out we went up to the continental breakfast. I was bumped into by a young man and the syrup spilled onto the floor. I tried to clean up with napkin and then went to ask the older worker Sandy for a wet towel. She raised her voice and said she would take care of it. She came out and when she seen it was syrup she became loud and rude. Yelling at me it was not ok, along with other things. She embarrassed me, with a room full guests. I informed front desk, was advices manager was off. They gave me his card. I tried reaching him over and over, finally left a long detailed message and asked to be called back. Which never happened. So once again I was disrespected. She is someone who should not be allowed to be around guests.…

We were in Morro over the July 4th weekend and stayed here a second time. I was so impressed that they made improvements because they already had enough good reviews to coast on them. Their breakfast room was open, and the complimentary selection was wide - it's the same as any Hampton Inn / family branded chain with waffle machines, eggs, sausages, oatmeal, etc. - as a mom with 3 bouncy young kids I so appreciated having this full spread that we normally only get in chain hotels. The rooms are better appointed than our last stay as the tv had been upgraded - now with a big selection of channels with a lot of choice for kids. There was a microwave in the room as well which wasn't there last time, and all the furniture seemed newer. Even in the breakfast room things seemed new. We took advantage of the coffee in the lobby throughout our stay. One tip to note - the front desk isn't manned 24 hours a day, but they do seem to have a working system for coverage or will leave signs if they have stepped away. I would recommend checking in before 9pm if you can. The other new thing was a staff member Leighanna who was so sweet and accommodating to our family. When we mentioned our plans to visit Cambria, she also recommended a trip to a glassblowing art studio in Harmony along the way that turned out to be really cute and so worth the stop. I also was worried about needing to access internet for a work call past checkout and she was so helpful in making arrangements for me. Highly recommend this inn! Great rooms for a great price located minutes away from Morro Bay! Staff was very kind and helpful. The breakfast was outstanding! Would definitely stop here again. Was probably the best place we stayed at along our way up to San Francisco.

I've always had a good experience when staying at this hotel and this time was no exception. I like the new exterior paint. The room was perfect for our needs. Very clean , comfy beds. I especially like the fact that there's a separate sink outside the bathroom/toilet area. Only thing that kept this rating from being a 5 was the ac buttons were not labeled right, but once we figured them out it was smooth sailing. Will definitely be staying here again.

My Wife and I always stayed at La Serena Inn on our trips there and it was always a pleasant one. I decided after my Wife passed on that I would take our two Daughters there ages 31 and 32 to see what their Mother Loved. The Lady that use to run this business wasn’t there and it was some man we talked to this time. The Lady always gave a little on the price but this guy says this is the price take it or leave it ! When we use to go there was a Terrace to step out on and watch the Ocean on the second floor, first floor is only for the Office and parking. On the second floor was nice relaxing lunch room to set and eat rather than doing this in the room, this last visit the lunchroom and Terrace was gone and made into more rooms and storage. In our room items were falling off in the bathroom, also half the lights didn’t work and our stay in short Sucked Big Time No where near as good as it use to be, like being in a jail of sorts. Your satisfaction is important to us and we will be using the feedback you gave us to implement improvements to ensure we offer a better experience for guests in the future. Our breakfast room is undergoing a remodel and was not turned into a storage room, we anticipate reopening it in a few months back to full service and freshly remodeled. Our 3rd floor sundecks (we have two of them) are definitely still there, the large one is attached to the breakfast room that is being remodeled but still completely accessible for guests to enjoy a nice lunch or to watch the sunset in the evening. I hope that you will consider staying with us again so that we can have another chance to provide you with a superior experience.
