So many things wrong where to start We are not from the area we came to enjoy some equality family time It is myself my wife and our one year old daughter When we arrived to the hotel we were not even there 20 minutes when when the front desk lady approached me while I was outside about to get my bags from the car When she asked how many children I had with me I told her just my daughter she asked if we could contain our child because she is making too much noise running around And it is disturbing her husband I specifically told her she is a child I will do my best but she's just doing what kids do After I grabbed my bags from my car I went upstairs to tell my wife who went downstairs immediately to talk with the front desk lady My wife very nice non confrontational asked the lady for either a refund or a change in room to to better suit their needs Because we have a child and she's not an animal and she will not be contained After my wife came up and said the lady Refuse to give us our money back and change our room So we left it at that we were only in the room for about 2 hours to get our daughter down for a nap get ourselves together to go out to dinner We left at 6 PM and did not arrive back in our hotel till a little bit after 11 PM After getting ourselves back into the hotel our daughter a bath and cleaned up and ready for bed we received a call at 1:24 AM It was the front desk lady's husband Complaining that we were being loud and running around upstairs and that we need to stop that we've been doing it all day mind you we didn't check into our hotel until 4 PM And we left at 6 PM for dinner and did not get back until 11 PM Due to the call at 1:24 AM it awoke my daughter Due to the unkind managers my wife and I decided to pack our things and leave the hotel we no longer felt comfortable As we were getting our items together and out the door the husband came out and and started telling us that we were the worst Guest he has ever had which completely baffled my wife and I We replied with we can't understand why you feel that way when we haven't been making any noise and now we are leaving the property because they have made us feel uncomfortable and waking us up at this hour to leave is ridiculous is especially to take our daughter out into the cold Mind you it is about 53゚outside Our experience at this hotel was completely horrible from beginning to end I would not recommend this hotel for anybody who has children Or a family Not to mention the beds had pet hair we also felt things crawling on our skin and we are itchy as well the light fixtures did not work the microwave dose not work properly its very old model and the air conditioner starts off cool then turns into a heater that smells burnt and the toilt flushes extremely loud enough to wake any one up after all this horrible experience i decided to call hotels.com who i went threw to get this hotel and they were absolutely no help i asked to speak with the manager many times and all i got was the run around and i was offered coupons i was extremely upset is that all my family is worth and my money wasted not to mention i had to rent another hotel to get my family out of the cold i paid twice in one day this experience is very disappointing i have been using hotels.com for over ten years i have recommended to all my friends and family looks like that was a mistake i will no longer be using this them to plan my stays

Pictures on the website are totally misleading. Dirty room, grimy floor, old furniture that looks like it was taken in off the street, creepy manager walking around the property smoking his ciggies - sign says no smoking within 15 feet of rooms, guess it doesn't apply to him. Like the hotel where some shady dealings might take place. Total dump.

It was disappointing that items I left in the room when I checked out, were not returned to me, despite me contacting Pelican Inn, and saying I would give a forwarding address and money to cover this cost. I was told there was nothing found in the room by housekeeping. This I need to be untrue.

This is a no frills motel but everything we needed.The place was very clean inside as well as out.The room was dated but very quiet.The location was very nice and the staff were very focused on service.The people in the office were very nice.

Great location! Price was good too. We had a room on the bottom floor at the end of the building. Fireplace was a nice touch. It's absolutely dated and not perfect, but everything was clean, worked properly and it was mostly quiet. We could walk to shopping, food, etc., trails across the street, or just stroll the lovely neighborhood. Owner was friendly. Bed was comfy. Overall, we enjoyed our 2 night stay, and we will book again when in the area.

We stopped here on our road trip up the coast of Northern California. It was a pleasant surprise that the hotel is in a central location, with private parking and the room we were given was a large one. Travelling for a few days we had experienced small accommodations. The room was large, with a king bed and a big bathroom. Central Monterey is a 5 minute drive.

It was a comfortable stay. The knelt two reasons I gave it a 4 star is this: 1.) we checked in early so there were rooms available and they put us under a family with kids. No problem, but the kids were jumping up and down all day. My boyfriend and I booked for three days there. We weren’t even able to come back to the room to take a nap. So maybe the floors were thin? I don’t know. Maybe they should try to aim to get families in on the bottom floor as to not disturb other guests. I have children but I wouldn’t let them run crazy indoors. But next time I will for sure request a top floor like I normally do. I don’t know why I didn’t this time. 2.) there wasn’t a coffee maker in the room. My fault for not checking but with a fridge and a microwave and amenities I would have thought a coffee maker would be there. It was a comfortable stay though. I would stay here again

I've stayed here before, this time was a four night stay. Pelican Inn is a good value for what it is, a budget establishment. The staff has always been great, rooms clean and quiet, no issues with anything I used. Two things that stand out for me: location & fireplace. It's a central location with an easy drive to pretty much everything. And I always opt for the fireplace, even though it's a few dollars more. This stay I did have a conversation with the desk because they wanted to charge me starting with the 3rd fireplace log, but it was resolved to my satisfaction. I understand things have been tough with covid, but I was still paying extra for the room with a fireplace. Also, because of covid no daily housekeeping or continental breakfast, understandable. They have been doing updating here and there, like the TV looked fairly new. Perhaps they can replace the room chairs and microwave soon, both a little worn. Because the rooms are small it's better suited to couples or solo travelers, the only amenity is a small picnic area- no pool or playground. But all things considered I still think Pelican Inn represents one of the best values for staying in the area.

Pleasant and quiet place. Room, although a little dated, was very clean. No daily maid service. The area is convenient to Pacific Grove, Monterey, Big Sur, Pebble Beach, and Carmel By The Sea. The motel is a good value if you are looking for lodging only.
