Friendly, knowledgeable and helpful staff. The room was as anticipated--a little long in the tooth, but clean and the view was great. After that it kind of falls apart. There's a chill and perfumed scent in the lobbies and halls of the main building that is unwelcoming and doesn't invite lingering even for the entertainment. The casual restaurant is spotty on food and service, but OMG the flies are everywhere.
My wife and I love the Monterey Plaza for its Proximity to Cannery Row and Aquarium (10 min walk), superb food and service. Staff are friendly and eager to please. Highly recommend the ocean view rooms with balcony as there’s nothing better than the surf lulling you to sleep and the bay panorama all day long! We’ve decided this is THE hotel for us in Monterey after trying various other options.
Nice views and great location. The staff were all courteous and attentive. Rooms could have been more updated and our mattresses were worn. Food at the restaurant was unimpressive. Location was good for proximity to Cannery Row and the Aquarium.
Stayed there for 2 weeks in May 2022.Bad service and Don't stay on the 4th floor as the Spa on the 5th floor disturbs the peace of the guests at 7AM daily.Imed at lobby bar offered the best service.Our 2 week nightmare at this hotel.Only the Ocean view was great!
This hotel was very beautiful. The staff was amazing and so pleasant. You felt very appreciated as a guest. The views were beautiful and the Spa was fabulous!! The location was also perfect walking distance to all activities as far as shopping, restaurants and the aquarium.
I had to drive 8 hours for son graduation the room was not ready, we literally had to change in the bathroom lobby, the front desk wouldn't help us to anything, the room once is ready was low on items. Horrible experience will never recommend or go back again .
The Monterey Plaza Hotel & Spa was the perfect home away from home. A perfect location within walking distance of fine dining, the wharf and the aquarium. The facility is gorgeous with an excellent view of the bay and the ocean. What made our stay the perfect vacation was the staff. From the front desk, to valet, to house cleaning. every single person we had the pleasure to meet, were helpful. warm, genuine and made us feel at home.
We have enjoyed the location and luxury of the Monterey Plaza Hotel on many previous occasions. It’s our “go to” place to stay in Monterey. Unfortunately, the hotel is not what it used to be. We were particularly disappointed that they have rebranded their main restaurant to become a very expensive fine dining establishment (the Coastal Kitchen) and relocated their Schooners Restaurant to the bar & hotel patio area where most of the tables are outside under heaters. I can understand that this arrangement would have made sense during the height of the covid pandemic but it now seems to be a very inferior dining option for breakfast, lunch and regular dinner. (Not everyone wants to partake in a six course gourmet dinner.) For that reason, we never took any meals in the hotel during our four night stay. There were a few other issues with our harbour view room which was located at the far end of the building that houses the spa. There was no Wi-Fi reception in the room and the it was not serviced on a daily basis except on request. The latter appears to be common practice in many US hotels as a result of covid precautions but, now that many restrictions have eased, I think it is time to return to a situation where it is normal to service rooms in a hotel on a daily basis except where the hotel guest(s) decline it.…
This place is over the top wonderful every time! We’ve been coming here for years and it keeps getting better. It literally is unbeaten and totally worth the price. Make sure you walk up and down the strip to see all there is to offer
Nice hotel, but we had a room over the trash room and almost over the road. No sleep for 4 nights. We should have been moved or warned so we could change to another hotel.Not good valget for money this time!
