A gem in the middle of high priced hotels. Clean, quiet, and roomy. It’s an old motel that’s been renovated; done well. People were friendly and accommodating. Definitely will stay again when I’m in Monterrey.
We stayed at the Stevenson hotel for one night. It was fantastic and in a great location for exploring Monterey as part of our road trip. The hotel provided free, secure parking. Ideal for our needs! The hotel is in a great location, a short walk to Alvarado street where you’ll find some lovely bars and restaurants. The wharf was also close for our planned whale watching trip. The rooms are well appointed, providing everything you’d need for a comfortable stay. The included breakfast was good with plenty choice. There’s also a nice swimming pool on site which we didn’t get a chance to use. Reception staff welcoming and helpful. We wouldn’t hesitate to recommend this hotel and if we’re back in Monterey, which I hope we will be, we will definitely stay at the Stevenson.
The hotel staff is very friendly and ready to help. The rooms are very nice and smelling fresh and cleaned. It is very short walking distance to some very good restaurants and the wharf area. We did not have to use or car at all, which was a nice change. This is a really nice find!
Travelling from Europe my wife and I booked one stay on our two week travel along the Californian coast. We had all hotels booked since early 2020. We are so disappointed that the Stevenson could not facilitate us by offering at least a voucher for a future travel hopefully in 2021! We know the hotel is fully ENTITLED to do what it is doing but in the present pandemic we thought they might understand. All other hotels we had booked did! Hopefully we will get to Monterey in 2021 or 2022 and hopefully we'll get to stay with you!!
Pros: COVID clean! Updated and well-preserved room, good shower water pressure, complimentary snacks in lobby in AM, covered free underground parking garage, super affordable, and very nice staff. Cons: lots of noise from street and bathroom fan, strange location near gas stations, bedding and linens not very comfortable, A/C auto feature does not work, and room is small. We stayed for 2 nights in standard room with queen size bed in early September 2020.
