Checked in and yes there is massive amounts of construction so keep that in mind. The parking is a little unusual but if you are ok with adapting this is a great place. Amazing staff and location. They received our packages m, valeted the car and handle everything. Great views and a great place to stay. Highly recommended.

This is NOT a 4 star hotel. 3 stars at best, especially with all the construction still going on. The location is great - close to the wharf and piers and plenty of options for restaurants and attractions. We requested a king size bed - my wife's birthday 5 day weekend. The first room we got had 2 twin beds....

Stayed here for a night and just checked out a few minutes ago. Friendly staff, room was very clean and a bit more high end than the usual American hotel. They had a renovation going on in the lobby, but you never felt anything was going on and no sounds were heard. Parking is at $20 a night which is...

The Portola Plaza is one of my favorite hotels in Monterey - though far from the best facility, it offers a great combination of price, location, friendly staff and clean, comfortable rooms. As a result, we took them up on an emailed offer recently for an upgraded room. In all fairness, they stated that construction was in process - but...

while still under construction/remodel, it is a very nice place. We asked for a room with a view on checkin. The staff gave us another room with the promise of moving to a better ocean view later in the day- they did and it was fantastic. Ocean view and overlooking Fisherman's Wharf. very nice room (under $200) super king bed,...

My friend and I stayed over for three days. We had gotten a special, so we thought we'd try the Portola. The room was a good size. The beds were comfortable & the bathrooms nicely renovated. It was clean & nicely decorated. Our room had a nice view & a patio. We had to walk some distance from the elevator...

We stayed here and I just think that you can do better for the money. Bedding was nice enough. It was enough money that I just expected something better. The construction is such a pain that you think that they would comp your breakfasts but they just don't do anything. The hotel is a mess. I'd wait until everything is...

After staying several times at this hotel, we were disappointed. Knowing that construction was going on should have been a red flag, but we like the location and proximity to a lot in Monterey. Original room was quite noisy with construction and we asked to move. They graciously accommodated us, but even still construction was noisy. Wait till they are...

Stayed at the Portola for a conference. Very nice staff from check in to room service. Room service food was quick and very tasty. Rooms and hallways are a little dated, but very comfortable. This hotel is within walking distance to the wharf and not too far from Cannary Row. Great restaurants within walking distance. This is a pretty good...
