My wife and I stayed here for 2 nights this week. We were greeted in the parking garage by friendly, professional valet attendants. The hotel and area around it has major construction going on so getting to check in was a little confusing. However, we were warmly greeted at the front desk and check in was a breeze... we were...

My wife and I usually visit Monterey 2-3 times a year. It's a great getaway. When we can, we stay at the Portola. It really is a beautiful hotel. Very comfortable and perfect location. Great restaurants at the hotel and on the wharf. The shoreline walking/biking path is right next to the hotel. Great for strolling along and taking in...

We've stayed here about three times now...and I really like it. Even though they're doing some construction, it hasn't affected our stay. Our room is quiet, and comfortable. It's a fairly big room. We have a view of the bay...somewhat obstructed by roofs. But it's very comfortable, great 'base' to start out from. Really close to Fishermans wharf and nice...

The hotel is undergoing serious renovations. Aside from that, the rooms are pretty noisy by themselves. There are two or more buildings so you may have to go outside to enter the hotel lobby for check in or visit the fitness center. I would not recommend staying here until they are done with all the renovations (which are definitely needed,...

My wife and I had a gift card to stay at the Portola Hotel and Spa in Monterey which covered one of the two nights we stayed. We booked a standard king bed room with breakfast included at $199/night plus tax, not too bad. The hotel is under construction which makes access a little difficult but since we were there...

Stayed here for a conference in November and the location was fantastic. I parked my car and walked everywhere. The wharf is a few steps away as well as the ped/bike trail that goes for miles; one could walk to cannery row and the aquarium. There was a Starbucks across the street and a crepe place right next to the...

The Portola was attractively priced, which is why I initially chose it. It's in a very central location and you can walk to many attractions from the hotel. The rooms were very nice. The only negative was the "deck" was in an interior space within the structure. It's quite a large hotel and has all of the amenities you'd want...

Unfortunately the hotel Portola was under renovation when we stayed there but it was the conference center so it was no so annoying. The front desk has been moved so it was a little bit less fancy than expected but we got amazing home made cookies when we checked-in. We asked a king bed room but they were sold out...

The Portola is a incredible hotel as it is located right in the heart of Monterey next to everything in terms of downtown. We were able to enjoy the hotel bar, the wharf, and local stores/restaurants all within a short walk. Additionally, for anyone visiting Monterey for the first time, I highly recommend the 17 mile drive which starts just...

My 7-year-old son and I got away for a few nights for Thanksgiving while my husband was traveling. We really like the Portola Hotel location really close to fisherman's wharf. Be warned, it is currently undergoing a major renovations so it is not as nice right now. However, the construction didn't bother us or interfere with our stay. We got...
