Room 1127. If you receive this room, my recommendation is to demand a different room. The ceiling above room 1127 has a loud metallic creaking sound whenever the guest in the room above walks around. It's like rusted coils. The guest was not running or jumping, but normal walking and it wasn't from the mattress. Our sleep was extremely restless. The room itself was nice, but the noise is absolutely unacceptable.

We stayed 3 nights at the Hyatt in July 2021. Although some things had changed- Knuckles bar isn’t back open, house keeping is a little different- the warmth and friendliness of the staff remains the same. The rooms are nicely appointed, the grounds are lovely and every employee we encountered was helpful, attentive and genuinely seemed to be interested in our enjoyment of our stay. Specifically, we had the same server, Ronnie C, 3 mornings in a row at Sea Root restaurant on the grounds, and he was incredible. Remembered us, inquired as to how we enjoyed the prior days events- which he had asked about the previous morning. Perfect service and all around a very enjoyable person. We come every year to Monterey and always stay here. And this year was no exception to our usual great stay!

My profile AND reservation special requests include a quiet room away from the elevator. Even though I identified myself as a repeat customer, a 30+ Gold Passport member, and discoverist status, I was given a room by the main entrance door, next to the elevator, with outdoor space right against a main walking path between buildings AND I WAS FORCED TO PAY A $25 UPGRADE FEE. I felt nickel and dimed. I was using points so I paid it. I know Christian was trying to get me a tub, but that was the booby-trap room (the suckers room). We asked to be moved and got a much nicer room location, but not before them determining if I paid enough of an upgrade fee- just for a basic room but with a balcony (which are in abundance)- on a Sunday night. Over 30 years, this is near the bottom of how Hyatt's always treated me. The hallways are dated but the rooms are fine and the lobby is gorgeous.

Our family of 4 recently stayed at the Hyatt Regency for my daughter's birthday getaway trip for 3 nights and boy did it disappoint. Let me preface by this - while I understand fully that we're still in times of COVID and the service and hospitality industry is still not back to pre-COVID... there are still things that can be done better esp in communication to guests. When we first pulled up - we had wanted to valet park... however there was no valet parking available even though there was a staff clearly at the valet stand... but he stated we have to check in first then figure out parking... which was puzzling but ok. No big deal, we parked, checked in and discovered the hotel comprise of many buildings with parking spaces nearby each building where the guestrooms are located so we parked near our room. After entering into the room, although recently renovated - I could still smell the old moldy wet carpet, not pleasant but nothing crazy either. I turned on the fan to blast air throughout and hope to get rid of it by the time we return later. As I unpacked, I discovered pieces of trash was left on the carpet in the room and also the bathroom. Further inspection led me to see stain on the sheets. Clearly the housekeeping team did not do a very thorough job in cleaning these rooms. I was not a happy camper at this point. Not sure if this was just a service that always existed or just in times of COVID but they have something called the ROAM service where you can text them your needs and they'll assist. We had asked for 2 tea bags and 2 paper cups for tea one night (not a terrible request) and they brought 2 tea bags and 2 paper plates. This was after a good 20min wait and I had to text them back (because the guy left so fast that i couldn't even ask for cups) ...only for the "bot" or the "staff" to say i already sent you some earlier... to which I replied no, you sent paper plates not cups! You can imagine my frustration just trying to get a cup of tea to cap off our evening. Lastly on our last morning, we wanted to check out the SeaRoot Restaurant... again due to lack of staff although there were plenty of tables and it was on a Tuesday morning.... we had to wait for 20min before we were seated. No big deal since we weren't in a rush.... I had ordered an egg's benedict to which the egg was so well done that they may as well have sent a boiled egg. I will say that the only redeeming factor at SeaRoot was the wait staff who served us. They were the only staff we observed from the hotel throughout our stay that showed any good service. From the time we checked in to even when we checked out, in general we felt like there was a lack of Hyatt standard we've come to known in our previous stay in other Hyatt properties. Needless to say, we don't plan on returning. Even though my kids enjoyed the pool and the lawn games , it's not enough for me to book another trip here given the poor experience we had.

Room was not cleaned for 4 days, terrible experience. The covid policies not clearly mentioned at the time of booking nor at check in. Will not stay here again. Paid a lot more thinking it was a Hyatt property, but totally disappointed!
