This place is totally charming. I stayed in the Brillig Room (queen bed, fireplace) while I was in town for a conference that is always in Monterey and I have already booked the same room for next year. In the past, I have enjoyed the Monterey Plaza, but this is so much more cozy and comfortable and the views of the ocean from lying in my bed were incredible. Easy and plentiful onsite parking were a plus for me. It was walking distance from an event at the Aquarium. The staff who greeted me and with whom I infrequently interacted during my stay were great. I was only able to have breakfast once, but that was nice, with an apple croissant and a round frittata-like entree. Really good coffee was available at 7:15 a.m. on. Fresh cookies always available, plus free sodas. I didn’t get a chance to go to their happy hour.

My husband and I recently visited The Jabberwock Inn for a weekend away and we had such a fantastic visit, it was hard to leave! From the hospitality of Suzanne, Rick, Dorothy and staff to the absolutely delicious breakfasts in the sun room, the beautiful (and CLEAN--they are all wearing masks, have hand sanitizer, you will sit several tables away from other guests- we felt completely safe and CLEAN the entire visit) room overlooking the bay, along with the historical aspect of the home and references to Lewis Carroll and Alice and Wonderland. The home itself is beautiful, the grounds are peaceful and lovely with a fountain, gardens and lush greens. The bocce ball court was a fun addition as well. We could walk down to the main street where there were many restaurants (highly recommend Vivolo's Chowder house for clam chowder and seafood, and Tutto Bueno for pizza/Italian). Suzanne's reco to check out Carmel by the Sea and Big Sur and 17 mile drive were super helpful. Needless to say, it was hard to leave!

This arts and craft style home is magnificent! Perfectly curated to show the elegance and details of the home. Alice in Wonderland themes were very perfectly hidden through our the property. This allowed for you to appreciate the works of Lewis Carrol without creating a “Disney” theme. The breakfasts were amazing!! Tastefull, elegant, and more than just your average continental breakfast. Careful thought went into the presentation and Ingredients.Customer service was excellent! I was amazed to the attention to detail regarding COVID cleanliness. If you touched anything in the home they asked you to place it in a sanitation basket. They had chess and checker boards and if you used them you flipped a sign that requested sanitizing. They even sanitized their pens!! We felt very safe!! Highly recommend this place for a unique coastal vacation!!

One word...Enchanting!

We had the pleasure of staying here for a couple days in June and from the moment we entered the front door we felt like we were valued members of the family.

I've always loved Alice in Wonderland and the recurring theme throughout made our stay extra special. The staff (Dorothy and Brianna) couldn't have been nicer or more helpful and Suzanne was just a wonderful hostess.

We stayed in both the 'Wabe' and the 'Brillig' rooms and even though we loved both, the Wabe was just perfectly located at the top of the house and so charmingly decorated--that we felt like we had fallen down the rabbit hole and truly didn't wish to leave. Since I am not a tall person, the smaller doorways were just right and made me feel like the room had been made just for me. It was so perfectly quiet and relaxing that we slept each night with our windows wide open to the fresh air.

Their breakfasts are tasty and just the right portions. Each morning it was a fight to decide whether to have their delicious Jabberjuice or wake up to the smoothness of the Carmel Roasters coffee they served. (We had both!). The sunroom (or 'fog room when it was foggy' was so nicely set up and it was a pleasure to sit there and plan our day.

Honestly, I can't think of another place that we've enjoyed more or looked forwards to returning to.

We were glad to have paid extra for the Borogrove Room, which had a wonderful view and a jetted tub for two. Some of the smaller rooms have a private restroom down the hall. The breakfast was amazing, and they were very accommodating to dietary needs, which we made known. The public rooms are beautiful, and filled with smart Alice references. There are crispy home made cookies and milk available in the night, and a wonderful choice of crackers, dips, cheeses, fruit and vegetables early in the evening along with a of wine.

They helped us with reservations for dinner, tickets for the aquarium and whale watching. We thoroughly enjoyed our stay and look forward to returning.

Dorothy is always so warm and welcoming when we arrive. It was a rainy weekend and we enjoyed sitting in our little attic room with the ocean view. Wine and appetizers were great and plentiful along with a fun visit with the owners. Our breakfast (they rotate option savory or sweet- our morning was sweet) was amazing bread pudding soufflé, fresh fruit, juice and apple sausage. More than enough!! This visit we stayed in the attic room mimsy, last time was Momrath. Both were different and perfect in their own way! Our second stay and definitely not our last. Just a few blocks from cannery row and near tons of dinner restaurants.

This B&B was top notch across the board. Honestly, we had some of the best breakfasts we have ever eaten here. The "jabber-juice" was out of this world. The owners/hosts are incredibly nice and down to earth and are more than happy to take care of anything you might need. The rooms have great views of the bay and it is just a short walk from Cannery Row. We will most certainly be back here in the future.

Our room on the second floor had a view of the water and a fireplace. The inn had a lovely sun room to enjoy in the morning. The food was delicious and satisfying. The Innkeeper gave us lots of information about the inn, the area and restaurants to suit our needs. We highly recommend a visit to the Jabberwock Inn.

This is our third stay at the Jabberwock. The theme is Alice in Wonderland and the decor is fun and clever. During this pandemic we were worried about travel, but Rick assured us that they had all safety measures in place. We felt absolutely safe because of how the staff cleaned and kept social distance practices. Our room was beautifully decorated and the bed was sooo comfy.

Also don't know about bus station but definitely within walking distance of the Aquarium and Cannery Road, but be aware it is on a steep hill, so the walk down is fairly easy, but the walk up is not for the feint of heart. Also, re: Aquarium. Try to go on a weekday not a weekend, especially if you its a holiday.
Chelsea R asked a question Nov 2015
When is breakfast served?
Answer from Jabberwock14
Monterey, CA2 contributions
Hi Chelsea, We spoke a couple of moments after your question, but just in case I will answer again. Breakfast is served from 8:30 to 9:30 in the main dining area and on the sun porch. Some folks come down for coffee which is served by about 7:15. Others sleep in and come down right closer to 9:30. If this is too "early" just chat with us and we will try to make some sort of accommodation. Best regards, Rick
