We have been wanting to stay at the Jabberwock Inn for some time, so when there was availability during our recent trip, we jumped at the chance. We stayed 3 nights and enjoyed the experience. The Inn was perfect and the owners were very engaging and hospitable. Everything was comfortable, relaxing and peaceful. Thank you so much to our wonderful hosts!!!

Property's Favorite Review
We were able to stay here for 3 nights in April in the Mimsy room (3rd floor). Experienced hospitality owners know what their guest want and need and deliver an unforgettable experience. Late arrival was easy, Mimsy is a small room with a small closet, but it has views of Monterey Bay (bring a decent set of binoculars), a memory foam topped queen bed was comfortable and we slept great even though we're used to a king bed. Do not miss the breakfast served daily. Each dish has an interestingly goofy name, but each two course breakfast fruit plate bread pudding or fresh croissant and egg soufle. The inn is over 100 years old and the stair creek (part of the charm), antique decor, a beautiful enclosed sitting porch with the perfect evening breeze to sip on a glass of wine, the bocce court and a delightful couple who make it all work so well. There was street parking from time to time, but we used the free inn parking. Several blocks to cannery district, coast guard pier and a nice walking trail along the coast of the bay in Pacific Grove (recommend). A faint sound of sea lions and gulls at night a distant sight of orcas in the bay and the aroma of breakfast wafting up the stairs in the morning, perfect.

The hosts are amazing and the inn is a 1911 historic home. We had the one room without a bathroom, so next time we'll chose a different one, but otherwise absolutely the best choice we could have made for our stay. Breakfast was delicious and the staff was incredible. Super walkable to sites and safe clean neighborhood with free parking. We will definitely stay again if in the area as the hosts did everything possible to make us feel at home.

One word...Enchanting! We had the pleasure of staying here for a couple days in June and from the moment we entered the front door we felt like we were valued members of the family. I've always loved Alice in Wonderland and the recurring theme throughout made our stay extra special. The staff (Dorothy and Brianna) couldn't have been nicer or more helpful and Suzanne was just a wonderful hostess. We stayed in both the 'Wabe' and the 'Brillig' rooms and even though we loved both, the Wabe was just perfectly located at the top of the house and so charmingly decorated--that we felt like we had fallen down the rabbit hole and truly didn't wish to leave. Since I am not a tall person, the smaller doorways were just right and made me feel like the room had been made just for me. It was so perfectly quiet and relaxing that we slept each night with our windows wide open to the fresh air. Their breakfasts are tasty and just the right portions. Each morning it was a fight to decide whether to have their delicious Jabberjuice or wake up to the smoothness of the Carmel Roasters coffee they served. (We had both!). The sunroom (or 'fog room when it was foggy' was so nicely set up and it was a pleasure to sit there and plan our day. Honestly, I can't think of another place that we've enjoyed more or looked forwards to returning to.

I stayed one delightful night at the Jabberwock Inn as I was passing through Monterey on my run up the coast. if you want the short version of my review - it is amazing, stay here. To be more detailed... I had had a long drive up that day so I was very pleased to be greeted personally by my host and given a glass of wine and some hors d'oeuvres (which were delightful) as well as a short guided tour of the public areas of the house. The place is amazing. It is easy to imagine that making a Lewis Carrol / Alice in Wonderland theme to a hotel will result in a slightly tacky tourist gimmick of a place but nothing could be further from the case here. Everything has been done with such exquisite care that you really feel like you are in an immersive and authentic experience. I utterly loved it. The room I had on the third floor was lovely, comfy, comforting. The hosts were charming, helpful and thoughtful. I cannot fault anything really. The setting is great too. If you are mobility restricted it may be tricky as there are lots of stairs in the house and the walk to the ocean front is down (and in reverse - up) quite a steep hill. There are lots of fine places to eat and drink and the hosts will provide recommendations breakfast was lovely too, it is evident that the proprietors here take the greatest care and show attention to every detail to make sure everything is of good quality and is charming and interesting for the guests. breakfast is served to table and I've stayed in top line five star hotels who's service would not match this. Its a fine sign for an establishment when a guest is sad to leave, and that was me when I checked out. I thoroughly recommend this place to all seekers of whimsy and character

My family and I stayed two nights in the TumTum Tree Cottage this week as part of a family vacation. This was the absolute best hotel or inn experience we have ever had. We arrived a couple hours before check in and Rick was so accommodating. We were able to stow our bags so we could walk around Cannery Row which is just a few blocks away. The TumTum Cottage is absolutely magical. Views of the ocean, the far off sound of sea birds, and the beautiful trees visible from every window made the suite perfect for immersing ourselves in Monterey. We also loved that the deck around the cottage is enclosed and the cottage separated from the other rooms so we didn’t have to spend the whole visit chasing little ones or telling kids to be quiet. Cookies are available in the house for those afternoon sweets cravings and breakfast each morning is delicious! Even from just our two days we heard and received such personal service at breakfast. They made every effort to accommodate dietary restrictions and find something every guest would enjoy. It was like sitting down to breakfast at a friends house (a friend who can cook a fabulous meal!). We stayed over my husband’s birthday and I was able to use their “add-on” feature to order a cake that was delivered to our room. The cake from the local “Paris Bakery” was beautiful and delicious. I just can’t say enough good things about the people, location, food, and level of accommodations at the Jabberwock. We will never stay anywhere else from now on!

Loved our one night stay at the Jabberwock, we stayed in the Tugley, with the bathroom down the hall. Lovely room, great bed, quirky house and amazing breakfast. Walking distance to Cannery Row, with its ships and restaurants , wouldn’t hesitate to recommend.

We stayed for 3 days. Dorothy and Rick were as charming as the property itself. Everything was such a grand experience. The rooms are very clean, the bed was...OMG! THAT BED WAS HEAVEN! My husband and I are looking at buying the same mattress now. Rick was happy to share the inn's extensive history. Breakfast was beyond delicious and delightful. The jabberjuice alone is worth the stay. Wine and hors d'oeuvre were great as well as we met some really interesting people. 10/10 would recommend. We will definitely be back. OH! The grounds are just as beautiful too. The bocce court was well maintained (we don't play though) and the gardens were pristine. I loved the little houses and statues that popped up everywhere.

My partner and I stayed in the Mome Rath room for 2 nights. The staff were wonderful and the food was excellent. Our room had a jacuzzi tub/shower combo and a nice (I think it’s electric?) fireplace. The house is full of fun Alive and Wonderland paraphernalia. I was excited about the bocce ball court but we ended up not playing. I hope to stay here again in the future as it was absolutely wonderful. Highly recommend. Note: it was cheaper to book direct through the Inn’s website!
