I have stayed at The Dylan SFO twice for business trips in the last six months. Both times I was impressed with the friendly staff, convenient location, and the fun atmosphere of this hotel!

It is less than a 5 minute walk to the BART/CalTrain station, which is one of the cheaper ways to commute in the city and get to any of the locations in SF or even travelling south of SF.

There are food places within walking distance and a grocery store. Chipotle, Starbucks, Walgreens, CVS, and Lucky grocery store are all right across the street!

The hotel is clean, they offer a daily happy hour 3-7pm AND they include a HOT breakfast! From my experience of trying to stay within a business budget of under $200 a night, this has beat all competition, and with breakfast included, I could not go anywhere else!

For my room, I always opt for the cheaper standard room which includes a coffee maker, but no microwave. If you have a few extra bucks, you could even save money on eating out by grabbing groceries at the local store and making food in your room with a microwave. If you don't feel like walking, most of the places deliver or you can use DoorDash and similar apps to deliver to your room directly.

In each room they have cute branded coffee mugs, refillable water bottles, and a wine opener. You are able to take the refillable water bottle with you on your travels each day while you are staying there and they have a filtered water station in the lobby.

Lastly, I don't have all the names of the amazing staff, but for sure Anna Page stands out. She happened to be working when I checked in and when I checked out. She is super friendly, provided a map of local areas, and remembered me as I was leaving. She made sure to ask about my stay and see if I had any concerns (I did not).

I cant speak highly enough about my stay at The Dylan. Given the cost of the area it is by far the BEST deal out there. Everything was great from the location, service, decorations, room comfort, and small touches.
The room: I booked a king deluxe which was a nice size. Enough room to be comfortable which included a sitting area, vanity area separate from the bathroom, and a balcony. The bed and pilows were very comfortable. I loved the tough of having an old school record player with actual records you can use in each room.
The hotel: I rented a car and parking was easy. Loved the common outside area with the large couches and water treatments. Each afternoon I did some work out there while sipping a glass of wine from their great Happy Hour. They have local wines which rotate. My Sauv Blanc was only $6 during HH.
The staff: all were so helpful and friendly. I needed something printed and they did it quickly. They constantly inquired about my stay and when they learned I was going to the Warriors game they gave me tips and directions etc
Small Touches: they provide stainless steel water bottles for every room that you can use during your stay and have fresh water stations. I drink a TON of water so this was crucial as I usually have to spend $3 a pop for vending machine water bottles.
There are cute quotes all around the hotel. They bake fresh cookies and have them by the reception each night. The breakfast is a better than your typical hotel free breakfast, and FYI most decent hotels in the are dont provide it free of charge so you cant complain! They have a waffle machine, bagels, bread, oatmeal, cereal, fresh fruit yogurt, homemade granola, and different hot items that rotate (bacon, saussage, egg patties, season potatoes etc). There is a coffee machine you can use anytime that makes regular coffee, latte, etc.
They also provide a free shuttle to airport

the front desk employees are not particularly friendly, although accommodating and no complimentary am bites. they offer wine and other tidbits for a minor fee. this small motel is surrounded by train tracks on one side and busy thourghfare, "el camino real," on the other side. the nearby train, "cal train," earily was a welcoming experience. grocery, restaurants and other eateries are near by, but may not be in walking distances for some people. we have vehicles and other delivery options for those needs.

my deluxe double queen room was well appointed and appreciated the somewhat vibrant color palate. the mattresses was very comfy, it even had a record player with four displayed lps. i played, "the byrds," and did not ask if they had a library of lps to choose from. the room had glass cups in the bathroom, ceramic mugs for hot beverages and two robes. this curious little motel adds a bit flavor in a rather drab selection of accommodations of similar if not larger settings.

We were advised by email that we would be able to store a cooler with the hotel upon check in for the 2 nights we were transiting in San Francisco. However, at check in, the General Manager refused to see the email we were sent with this confirmation and denied our request to store anything outside of our room. When we told her that we had made enquiries prior to check in so that we could stay somewhere that could offer this for us, she too easily told us she could cancel our reservation then and there. It was too late for us to make other enquiries in nearby hotels as it was after 8pm, and cancelling our reservation did not guarantee a full refund either. We had to make do with the small fridge inside the room and purchasing ice bags to keep cool the items in the cooler that could not fit in the fridge.

The bathroom door was also basically hanging off its hinge.

The room had great amenities, just a pity that the staff and its maintenance are below standard.

My group of friends and I enjoyed our stay at The Dylan and was impressed by the cleanliness, the atmosphere, and the attentiveness by the employees. Our only negative note would be about the desk service by Joyce. There was an incident on our last night where she “coincidentally” patrolled our floor while we adventured out to the lobby for some snacks and refill our ice bucket. She proceeded to follow us until we got to our rooms. We stayed here for 3 nights and not once did anyone patrol the floors at any point in the night. We weren’t acting in any type of rowdy behavior nor were we disrespectful. Whether it was because we were the youngest group staying at the hotel or because filling up an ice bucket at 1 am is considered suspicious behavior, my group and I felt very uncomfortable and uneasy until we were in our rooms. The next day, we were anxious to check out because we weren’t sure if Joyce would be at the desk. Thankfully, a lovely and patient woman named Anna was working at the desk and was extremely helpful during our checkout process. She broke down our entire stay and explained everything to the T. We will definitely consider coming back just because Anna changed our overall attitude about The Dylan.

Confusion with the reservations. We cancelled a 3 night stays due to Covid and the fires out West. A second reservation was overlooked and The Dylan charged us with no recourse.
The CSR stated that housekeeping had to clean the rooms. Since we were quarantined in Florida during the "ghost stay", why would housekeeping even go into the room?
Management is unsympathetic to our issue and refused any recourse.
My advice? Be very diligent with making a reservation and/or cancelling one. The Dylan will not refund or compensate any non-cancelled reservation.
We are obviously disappointed and it was an error on our part. But we will avoid that The Dylan and all other Dylans.

I travel to UCSF several times a year but prefer to stay outside the city. I have stayed in many different Bay Area hotels throughout the years and this one is my favorite because of the beds. They are so comfy! The mattress and pillows are the absolute most important part of any hotel (for me) and The Dylan gets it right. Free parking is nice, too.

My only real complaint is that not every room has a mini-fridge & microwave. Many of the other properties in the SFO area offer them in all rooms, but The Dylan requires you to upgrade to a deluxe for this luxury. It's about ~$20 more each night and the deluxe rooms are a nice upgrade - balcony, bigger bathroom (at least in the one we booked), record player with records. I mean it is a nice upgrade. I just wish I didn't have to pay an extra $20/n to keep my leftovers from spoiling. Also not easy to get to the deluxe rooms when you have a good amount of luggage. Their luggage carts, for us at least, were humorously difficult to use.

Other than that - I love this hotel because I love their beds.

The receptionist that checked me in was extremely pleasant and housekeeping had done a great job cleaning my room. That was the end of the positive aspects of my experience. With "SFO" in the name of the establishment, I assumed this was a travelers (vs tourist) hotel and that it would be a reliable and less-expensive place to get some sleep before embarking on my next flight. First, this is actually a motel, very thinly renovated to be called a hotel. And the rooms feel very motel. Based on pictures, I definitely got one of the worst rooms, so be aware not all rooms are equal. The walls and ceilings are paper thin. The bed linens are all polyester and bathroom towels are motel quality. My hope had been to get sleep, otherwise I would have stayed at the airport overnight. Instead, I got to lay awake in a room I'd paid for and paid to get to because of the people partying in the corridor and on the floor above mine until 2:30am. Staff is only on-call after the lobby closes at 10:30pm and texting at 1am resulted in absolutely nothing. I assumed they'd have quiet hours or someone around to assure guests could actually sleep but that isn't the case. Instead, the party group basically took over and had a grand ole party right above my head. Big waste of money. I do commend their photographer for making the place seem much nicer than it actually is.

Staying at The Dylan made our early morning SFO departure feel like a vacation. The hotel is stylish, with many cozy outdoor and indoor seating areas. We found our room exceptionally comfortable and clean. Including a record player and selection of records in each room was a thoughtful addition. The front desk staff were welcoming and helpful. If looking for a place with charm and comfort, I highly recommend staying at this boutique hotel.

This is an updated hotel close to the airport. I chose it bec of free parking, it seems to be a safe neighborhood and the rooms are new and clean. The lobby and what looks like a breakfast area before are comfortable and updated. Free coffee all day and night are a nice touch. The alcohol also is sold at a fair price, not overly marked up.
The one negative is slow wifi in the rooms, as ours was farther away from the lobby. I needed to get some work done so I had to go to the breakfast area to work. Not a big deal but this is why I couldn’t rate this 5 stars. Staff quite friendly too. I witnessed how the night staff handled an unruly guest and she did a good job.

I think about 30 minutes, but best refer to BART timetable on line. Weekend and night service is limited I believe.
