I was making a reservation at the Dylan in August, since my prior stay was excellent. However, as I was booking a standard room, my internet went down, causing me to go back and re-book. However, when I went back in the "standard" room was no longer available only a "deluxe" room was. I booked the Deluxe, since my prior experience here was outstanding. I immediately called the hotel and spoke with a representative and explained what happened. I was advised that a change would be made on my reservation to the "standard" rate since there were standard rooms available. However, when I checked out the following day, I was charged the "deluxe" rate. Since I had an early plane to catch and no one was at the desk in the lobby, I left my key on the counter and was going to contact them once I returned home. I tried to speak with a manager or owner of the Hotel but was continually denied. The representative said they would try to get me the lower rate as they had promised. End result, there was no movement by the management to refund me the difference. I did follow up with a letter to the Hotel, not expecting a response and have not since my letter dated September 1st. The one positive was the representative I was working with understood what providing "outstanding" customer service is about as they tried in vain to get me the credit. End result, I will not be staying at the Dylan Hotel in the future, which is a shame, as it is a nice facility.

I don't know why they call this a hotel--it's clearly a motel. Hotels don't have hand-written "no vacancy" signs on the door, hotels don't have that Febreezy-cover-up-cigarette-smoke-and-mildew odor, and you don't enter (most) hotels from outside. If you are looking for a motel--this is very classy--they have a fancy wine assortment available in the lobby, they have interesting art in the rooms, and more pillows than you know what to do with. But if you saw the name of the property and were expecting a hotel, you'll be disappointed--this looks like a Motel 6 that left their small town to move to the city. Parking, albeit free, is first-come, first-served, so we had to park on the street. The shower water temperature fluctuated wildly. And our room's carpet was wet in the area from the door to the bed--and the management seemed to have some variable explanations for the wetness (it got cleaned recently? it rained this week?). So...keep your expectations at motel level, and you'll be happy.

Very conveniently located near the airport, so it's a practical place to stay if you will require several trips to or from SFO. There's also adequate parking for its size, and multiple dining options nearby, both along and immediately across the street where the hotel is located The front desk staff is pleasantly conversant, there's a free coffee machine near the front desk, and a water/ice dispenser and vending machines in the next room. The room is small and has seen better days, but no major issues were encountered.

We stayed at the Dylan Hotel on both ends of a 3-week trip to Europe and it was such a pleasant experience both times. The hotel itself is charming. The rooms are comfortably furnished, and each one has a record player and several albums to play on it—a treat for our 8-year-old! In addition, the lobby is well stocked with snacks and drinks—including adult beverages—as well as games and books for all ages. The staff is very pleasant, and the location is ideal for getting to and from SFO quickly and easily. We also took advantage of the long-term parking option, and the location of the garage is very secure.

My god this place is awesome, upgraded myself to a deluxe room with record player for an additional 20Usd, and it was well worth the extra money. This is going to be my stopover hotel in the bay area from now till this day forward. The beds are really great!! Thank you so much for a great stay.

Room Tip: Try Redwood City for a change, instead of San Francisco. It has a really nice downtown area.

the front desk employees are not particularly friendly, although accommodating and no complimentary am bites. they offer wine and other tidbits for a minor fee. this small motel is surrounded by train tracks on one side and busy thourghfare, "el camino real," on the other side. the nearby train, "cal train," earily was a welcoming experience. grocery, restaurants and other eateries are near by, but may not be in walking distances for some people. we have vehicles and other delivery options for those needs. my deluxe double queen room was well appointed and appreciated the somewhat vibrant color palate. the mattresses was very comfy, it even had a record player with four displayed lps. i played, "the byrds," and did not ask if they had a library of lps to choose from. the room had glass cups in the bathroom, ceramic mugs for hot beverages and two robes. this curious little motel adds a bit flavor in a rather drab selection of accommodations of similar if not larger settings.

Just by SFO and easy to find. Hotel is pretty basic and the heater/ventilation in our room did not work so it was a little cold. For the price it was fine and just across the street was a lot of shops where you can get dinner/breakfast.

This is a pleasant and well located Motel if you have an early flight to catch or you need a bed to crash in after a late landing. We found our room to be large, clean and comfortable. You can definitely hear the traffic from the road outside, but this is sort of a white noise that's easy to tune out. The Motel is obviously also frequented by guests who are checking out very early to catch flights at less sociable hours, so expect to occasionally hear the trundle of hand luggage rolling past your door. CVS, Walgreens, Luckies and Chipotle are less than 2 minutes walk away, which is very helpful. I also found the bathroom to be very clean and the shower to be large and pleasant, with great water pressure. Checking in & out was smooth, if not very memorable. If using this motel for commuting, I don't think you can expect any more really. It is what it is, and what it is ticks the boxes.

Pros: Very close to SFO, restaurants, stores, gas stations. Cons: Highway on one side, train tracks on the other side. I paid for a balcony room but would not use it because it was literally on the road and next to the train tracks. Ask for a top floor room, our room was right above the parking garage and it was very noisy. The room was dark and had a musty smell. The bathroom was very small and not as clean as I would like.

I travel to UCSF several times a year but prefer to stay outside the city. I have stayed in many different Bay Area hotels throughout the years and this one is my favorite because of the beds. They are so comfy! The mattress and pillows are the absolute most important part of any hotel (for me) and The Dylan gets it right. Free parking is nice, too. My only real complaint is that not every room has a mini-fridge & microwave. Many of the other properties in the SFO area offer them in all rooms, but The Dylan requires you to upgrade to a deluxe for this luxury. It's about ~$20 more each night and the deluxe rooms are a nice upgrade - balcony, bigger bathroom (at least in the one we booked), record player with records. I mean it is a nice upgrade. I just wish I didn't have to pay an extra $20/n to keep my leftovers from spoiling. Also not easy to get to the deluxe rooms when you have a good amount of luggage. Their luggage carts, for us at least, were humorously difficult to use. Other than that - I love this hotel because I love their beds.
