Our favorite hotel in the South SF Bay bar none! Great staff, chic style and a great fitness and pool facility. We travel here often and have stayed at other comparable hotels when the Nia is booked. They don't compare. Bar and restaurant are great with chic vibe and great selection. Outdoor area is park like and great for a cocktail.

We have stayed at this hotel several times, the last time pre-COVID pandemic. It was great! Not this time: while many of the cuts related to the COVID pandemic are understandable, the theme these days is that everything that is not offered, not available, does not work, etc etc is' because of the pandemic'. That's the all encompassing excuse.
So, I do understand that there is no valet parking, no bell man, no room service, no daily cleaning of the rooms, no dine-in restaurant, no coffee shop, restricted pool times.
What I don't understand is that the main attraction of this hotel on a weekend "The Pool" is not better organized.
It needs a full time pool attendant at least on busy weekends. We got different explanation on how we can reserve our 2 hours at the pool from different hotel employees. 'You cannot pre-reserve for the next day' So we call down at 5 AM the next day and were told "sorry, now it's all booked up' Seriously? We still found a way to get our pool time, but that super irritating for hotel guests to hassle with.
We also saw cars driving right to the front of the hotel, all passengers dressed in pool gear walking right through the lobby directly to the pool. Obviously not hotel guests.
I am not complaining of the big mess of used towels on all available lounge chairs and cabanas that were left there for hours and hours blocking any other hotel guest fo9rm using them. I am complaining that there was not ONE employee permanently present to organize the pool area. I would be happy to pay a surcharge for pool use, call it 'resort fee' if that would be implemented. I absolutely expect that from an "Autograph collection' property.

Thank you for taking the time to post your feedback in regards to your recent stay with us. The feedback is greatly appreciated and points to areas that we can still develop and improve. I am disappointed that the Labor Day weekend at the pool did not meet your expectations. For this failure, I want to offer my most sincerest of apologies. I want to inform that your concerns will and have been discussed with our leadership team here on property and we are re-vamping our pool situation moving forward. Again with my most sincerest of apologies and thank you so much for your feedback. Hoping that you're staying safe and healthy. Warmly, ltanaka

Wade, who is the GM, runs an excellent hotel. This is our second trip here and there was a marked improvement in service since Wade took over in the summer.

The housekeeping service (we have Paula and Vibiana) cleaned the rooms thoroughly and even organized some of the kid's toys! Edward who runs the housekeeping department got us what needed in a timely manner without any follow up.

The front desk staff Marlene and Arya made the check in process smooth, easy and quick. They also set up binder clips to completely close the curtains to darken the room.

Thank you team and We will be back!

I checked in at 1:30 AM after a long flight from the east coast only to find that the room I was given did not have electricity, it was pitch black. I called the front desk from my cellphone and asked them to send someone up to see if they could get the lights on and was told that she could not leave the front desk but that she could provide me the keys to another room. Since she couldn't leave the front desk I had to go all the way back down with my bags to get the keys. The second room I was given had electricity, I settled in for the night but was very disturbed by the air conditioner that would turn on and off every 5 minutes. I was tempted to ask for another room but it was already 2:30 AM and i was exhausted from traveling so I just slept without air conditioning as I could not deal with the constant on and off of the AC. So the next morning I informed the front desk of the issue with the AC and I was transferred to a corner room that was a bit bigger and had a soaking tub (I am a platinum elite Bonvoy member and the room was an upgrade at no cost to me). Although the AC in the new corner room was more quite than the other room, it was still bothersome. I would just leave the AC on while I was in the room and turn it off at night to be able to rest. We stayed in April and luckily it was cold enough outside to keep the room at a confortable temp; not sure this would have been feasible during the summer. Another issue that I had was that the hotel is next to a freeway and there is vehicle noise all night, it was annoying but I could deal with it unlike the AC noise. The onsite restaurant isn't open for breakfast but they do have a small cafe that offers coffee and pastries. If you have a car I would suggest going to a nearby cafe called Mademoiselle Colette in Menlo Park that has the most amazing coffee, bread & croissants (I found this place thanks to a recommendation from the front desk) I think this hotel is great for a business stay for a night or two but if you are in the area on vacation I would certainly find another hotel that is in an area that is more quite and within walking distance of restaurants and shopping areas. This hotel has many 5 star reviews from TA members with only 1 or 2 reviews on their profile which makes me a bit suspicious on the authenticity of the reviews.

Hotel Nia has an interesting vibe and aesthetic, but during my visit was sorely lacking in amenities and service. Im guessing some things were cut back during covid and this is the result.

Our room wasnt cleaned or turned over once during our 3-night stay.

There’s virtually no food at a walkable distance from the hotel, but the bar and resteraunt close ar 9/10 pm, no room service or comp breakfast. Literally the only breakfast food they had was a small breakfast sandwich that sits under heatlamps for around 10 dollars.

Even though it said on tha Marriot app that newspapers could be delivered or would br available, when i asked at the desk they said “everythings online now so we dont have that.”

The standard king rooms dont have bathtubs, and feel cramped. The king corner rooms are basically the same size, but include a tub.

In general this hotel is very overpriced for the service/product.

the good
room is nice. stylish. property has nice outdoor area if you can ignore highway. EV charging.

not so good
they charge you $20 for self parking. wasn’t clear at all upon reservation. there is no free option.
there is no bottled water provided in room
there are no toiletries in room. which i don’t mind too much from a green pov. but would have been nice at least to have a way to request lotion.

property just didn’t feel very service oriented. employees not that helpful or looking to help. guests seem like more of annoyance or them.

Wonderful location near the Bayfront park, great restaurant and bar, brand new modern rooms. Easy access to both SJC and SFO, highly recommend this property for a short stay. Food and drink prices on the higher side, to be expected given most of the hotels clientele is likely business.

I had my worst Marriott stay so far with Hotel Nia!! I redeemed my 50k free night with them. Based on the website, there was the self-parking option. When I arrived in my car, a valet greeted me saying they didn't have self-parking and I had to do the $37 valet parking. I said I didn't believe you and he mentioned "then you can check out the Meta parking building but their clock will reset at 2am so you may pay over $60 parking there." I drove there and checked with the parking management and they confirmed of a daily maximum of $30, which was indeed what I paid the next day after checking out. The front desk team was inexperienced and didn't provide any useful info. Next, due to COVID, the jacuzzi at the pool area was forbidden to use, which was still running and wasting power! Also the bed design in their guest rooms were not tall-people friendly. Later I had dinner at Porta Blu and found a plastic piece in the tuna tartar dish. It was clearly from a guacamole product box; but the server went to check with the cook and came back saying "it was from fish scales". Unbelievable. The next morning, when I tried to work a bit in the hotel room, there was an electricity/power outage in hotel rooms. No outlets or lights worked. I decided to check out and somehow in the lobby they still had electricity working. I checked out with anger and hoped it was the end of our connections. However, two weeks later, I saw an unrecognized charge appeared in my credit card history from Hotel Nia. I called the hotel and they apologized that it was supposed to be a charge to Marriott company instead of the customer!! I also complained that I never received a folio/invoice from them and they said "There are multiple emails associated with your account and it got sent to other ones". She read an email to me and it was not mine! I called Marriott CS later and the agent couldn't associate my name with the confirmation number there. They found other people's name with it! I called Marriott customer service and they created several cases for me. However, one month later, I still haven't received any response from the executive team at the hotel, nor have I received the refunds for the incorrect charges!

Housekeeping walked in on me twice while my do no disturb sign light was on and i was Bfeeding my infant. I currently work at a hotel and our procedure is leave items in a bag and place onto the door handle if no response or a do not disturb sign is placed, not just walk into the room.
For a luxury hotel I don’t feel reassured by the teams efforts to improve because this happened twice within a 24 hour period. I mentioned this with assistant front office manager on the first offense but once it happened again, I was definitely upset. Please be aware**.

Property is nice, amenities are great but it really rounds out your experience by the staff, and thus far I was not really convinced when the few staff you’re interacting with are not friendly.

Front desk staff member at check-in, Leilani, doesn’t acknowledge my MB status. Although it’s silver, it makes the difference in hospitality that I am acknowledged for the status. When I ask about complimentary breakfast for Marriott elite members by reading this information from in-room television screen, which doesn’t mention anything about certain level like gold platinum or titanium. she informs me it’s only for platinum and titanium elite and then looks up my reservations, jokingly laughs, and then says with condescending tone, “you’ll get there”. What a blow. Those experiences and small interactions makes me want to jump ship entirely and switch loyalty towards a Hilton or Hyatt.

Front desk needs more training on brand, loyalty and perhaps bed-side manner to connect with guests.

Location is perfect if you are here for work with facebook as the campus is just 5 min walk from hotel. Other campus is around 30 min drive.

Room is neat and service is excellent. Nice restaurant which serve decent breakfast and cocktails

Will not recommend if you intend to have a relaxing holiday in SFO as it is quite a drive to fishermen wharf or city area

Dear Katie, We are looking forward to hosting you at Hotel Nia. Hotel Nia, does not provide a shuttle service to San Francisco. We only provide a courtesy car on weekends which transports our hotel guest within 8 miles radius. Best way to get to the SF would be either Uber/Lyft or CalTrain/Bart. If we can further assist please do let us know.
