I booked a room last minute here when my plans to Big Sur fell through. Let me start by saying that the whole frequency of life changes on this part of the coast, and then, when you drive up to this place, you just feel the magic. Even in winter, the gardens and landscape are magnificent. The terraced raised bed...

My wife and I had a quick weekend away and stayed at the Stanford Inn for 3 nights. Beautiful grounds, fun vegetarian meals (we are not vegetarian), and lovely room with fireplace and balcony that had a great view of the inn and gardens. Very relaxing stay and highly recommend. We ate in town sometimes because we wanted variety. The...

This was our third trip to the Stanford Inn, and our first with our dogs. We stayed in the barn suite which was just the right size for the four of us, including our two girls, plus two dogs. Very clean, comfortable, delicious, healthy food and two minutes drive to Mendocino. The swimming pool was nice and warm, and the...

We had a lovely room with a real fireplace , nice bed and bathroom. It had been updated without completely loosing the charm and replacing everything. We loved our room and would stay again. However, the breakfast was awful. Completely vegan... completely unappetizing. So if like us you don't eat just for the health benefits/philosophical statement but like to enjoy...

It is wonderful that you enjoyed the room. The majority of our guests are not vegan or vegetarian, and they rave about our wide ranging menu and quality organic ingredients. It is a different flavor than the grease and salt saturated food that has become so common in the typical diet!

We reserved a room for three nights at the Stanford, a green hotel. The grounds are beautiful. We chose a room on the second floor with a pretty view of the grounds and water. The rooms are a nice size with fire places, starting kits and wood to get the fires going. The room has a big comfortable bed, nice...

So happy you could enjoy the rooms, the and the grounds and our solarium during your relaxing pre-holiday vacation. Thank you for this kind review. Hopefully next time you visit can give The Ravens a try, our plant biased menu appeals to many different appetites!

Very poor signage and tough negotiating the place if you are physically limited. We tried entering the poorly marked property three ways. Elected NOT to attempt bring back a wheelchair family member because ADA is only poorly fulfilled here

We are sorry to hear about the difficulties you had with parking! We have signs directing guests to registration which is located in our upper lot (along with plenty of upper lot parking for all guests). Our signs are very visible (located in two different places in the lower lot), but very occasionally guests miss them and park in the...

This place is very well-maintained and comfortable, so I've given it 4 stars, but after more than 20 years of enjoying this inn my husband and I have decided we are unlikely to return because of the recent changes. We have always loved the vegetarian breakfasts, but strictly vegan is, for us, a bridge too far. We appreciate the owners'...

Thank you for your review, and are sorry to hear you won’t be returning. Our ethic and philosophy has remained consistent from the day we bought the inn in 1980. We began as a vegetarian establishment, but once we learned the ethical and environmental devastation caused by eggs and dairy, we removed those from the menu as well–from dinner in...

My husband's an omnivore. I follow a vegan diet (to address health issues). We both enjoyed the Stanford Inn/Ravens Restaurant delicious food available at breakfast, afternoon tea and dinner. (A full cooked-to-order breakfast is provided for guests. Guests also receive a complimentary dessert at afternoon tea.) My husband was amazed at the great texture/mouth-feel of the dishes - particularly the...

Beautiful setting along the Mendocino coast. The organic gardens are amazing, and the food was outstanding. Afternoon tea was a real treat. The lobby is warm with two fireplaces and pet friendly. Staff are excellent.
