Just stayed here for two nights, our family of three inc DD who is a grad student. We stayed in the Geranium Room. The property is historic (built late 19th century, was previously a doctor's house and probably his clinic as well). But it is well maintained, with a beautiful garden. The beds were comfortable, the room was very clean and spacious, and town gets very quiet in the evening and early morning. Breakfast was muffins the first morning, and yogurt parfaits the second. Enjoyed our stay, and Mendocino, greatly, and would definitely stay here again if we are lucky enough to return.
Our 2nd of 10 destinations on a long road trip and I was sad to have to move on! We had a very warm welcome and our room was super comfy. Our needs were really catered for and the homemade gluten free breakfasts (muffins were top drawer!) were delicious. Take the headland walk and soak in the amazing views. I highly recommend staying at the Seagull Inn.
The Seagull Inn gave us a great place to perch for a couple day exploration of Mendocino. Just steps from the town and from the great headland trail with access to the beach or just views. We loved sitting on the porch. We chose the seagull for the location and relatively good price for the area, and it delivered. The room itself was fine but lacked some comfort. We like to read and relax in the room and had some trouble with that. The two chairs in the room were uncomfortable and one was broken. The bed had no headboard so retreating to bed to read was uncomfortable…the window sill dug into one’s back. As stated elsewhere the bathroom is quite small…but it’s a historic building so no complaints about that. The breakfast was a real disappointment, a bad but huge muffin accompanied a little cup of fruit and a bizarre tablespoon of yogurt. There was no way to make coffee in the room so the breakfast arrival time of 8-9 was really late. We quickly gave up on breakfast and and began getting coffee and food at some nice establishments in town. I think seagull would do as well to skip breakfast service and offer coffee and (better) muffins in the office area for those who want them. All in all I might stay again for location and price, but I wasn’t wowed.…
We had a great stay at the Seagull. The staff was incredibly attentive and kind. The Driftwood room was a cozy retreat with a much needed fireplace for a cold weekend. The breakfast was delivered on time to our room and delicious. Thank you to the staff for a great stay.
This is one of the smaller B&Bs in Mendocino. Also, it is one of the few B&Bs that has a room with two beds. Our room was very spacious and the beds had lovely foam mattresses. There were fresh flowers on the table and two comfortable chairs for lounging. They do not have a breakfast room like many B&Bs, but we did have a table with two chairs, and our breakfast was brought in on a tray (with more flowers). We had these huge freshly-made muffins, yoghurt, and fresh fruit along with a pot of fresh tea. The only "complaint" I have was the bathroom. It really needed some TLC. Our toilet seat was loose and the shower caulking was failing so some water came through. The outlet looked older and I was a bit concerned that it might not be GFI (ground-fault interrupted circuit). While you can have these type of outlets without the usual black and red buttons seen on many outlets in hotels, there was nothing to designate this circuit. Overall, if we were to come back to Mendocino, we would stay here again. The people working there are delightful and the location is hard to beat.…
After nine hours behind the wheel my friend and I were looking forward to a relaxing evening at a lovely B and B. Boy oh boy, were we in for a surprise. After reading all the glorious accolades, we booked "The Barn", as it was a stand-alone structure, away from the other rooms. We couldn't believe our eyes once we entered. Shabby doesn't begin to describe the sorry state of The Barn, Peeling wall paper, a bedroom door that didn't close and had a hole in it where a lock used to be, terrible shower that desperately needed a thorough cleaning (at a minimum). It seems as though nobody cares about this part of the property. We tried to talk to staff, but they were completely disinterested in any and everything we pointed out. This is the worst place I have ever stayed.
Went there this past weekend to celebrate our wedding anniversary and our experience was amazing. Ian made us feel right at home. The days were amazingly clear for Winter and we were able to explore the whole coast around Mendocino. The drive in and out was very scenic. The nights were amazing full of stars and we got a great sleep with the sounds of powerful waves crashing against the coast. The place is rich in history so well worth exploring. We will for sure be back.
Fabulous location, excellent breakfast delivered to your door each morning, wonderful room and excellent staff. I can’t wait to stay there again! We came here for our honeymoon and the service and accommodations were perfect.
Perfect weather, wonderful verandah torelax and enjoy the Mendocino ambiance. Scott, the innkeeper could not be more helpful with navigating the details of the inn, breakfast details and local recommendations. Our only “ complaints “ - One which is-what it is,the bathroom is very small. The other - the coffee is not good. We had our Nespresso maker with us so after the first day we had our own coffee. We had a wonderful visit.
Our family of five stayed in two rooms for two nights. We can highly recommend the Seagull Inn. Excellent location, healthy and delicious breakfast, clean rooms and great hosts. The gardens are a great place to eat breakfast or sip a glass of wine.
