Welcome to Mendocino CA and Seagull Inn Bed and Breakfast, one of the original B&B Inns on the scenic Northern California Coast. The house was built in 1878. A giant Holly tree shades the front porch. The private garden has several secluded sitting areas. Meticulously maintained, the inn and its grounds are very much a part of Mendocino's charm. All bed and breakfast lodging guest rooms have private baths and some have views of the ocean.

We were fortunate to stay at the Seagull Inn B&B on the first weekend Mendocino was reopened for lodging, dine-in and retail shopping.

This is a fabulous 9 room and reasonably priced B&B with a very easy walk to the beach or downtown to the shops and restaurants.

We stayed in the Driftwood room. Ample size with one of the most comfortable mattresses I have ever slept on...wanted to take it with me.

The Innkeepers serve a delicious breakfast in your room. Huge muffins, fruit and good strong coffee! A wonderful way to start the day.

This is a perfect place to use as your base from which to explore Mendocino and the surrounding area with delightful Innkeepers.

Our family of four stayed here one night and had a great experience. The innkeepers are very welcoming and have great advice on local attractions and restaurants. We stayed in the barn, which was super fun for our kids. It had a lofted space with a bed for them. We took advantage of the garden as well, eating breakfast out there. Breakfast was parfaits with fresh berries - yummy and fast. You couldn't pick a better location. Literally next door to Mendocino Cafe, where we had a delicious dinner. Steps from all the shops and the beach. lovely.

nice room, a former "apartment" does not have a refrigerator, a major negative for me. but everything else was great. offers breakfast, great if you like sugar, but will make accommodations for special dietary needs. what you are buying here is the location, next to and behind the fire station, within short walking distance to the beach itself. restaurants are nearby. everything is convenient. groceries just a couple of blocks away.
new owners are difficult to contact, messages and website requests are sometimes ignored. i've been trying to make a reservation for three days, they don't answer their web requests or phone messages! nice digs, but "new" ownership needs to hire someone to take reservations and to be a reliable contact.

The Seagull Inn gave us a great place to perch for a couple day exploration of Mendocino. Just steps from the town and from the great headland trail with access to the beach or just views. We loved sitting on the porch. We chose the seagull for the location and relatively good price for the area, and it delivered. The room itself was fine but lacked some comfort. We like to read and relax in the room and had some trouble with that. The two chairs in the room were uncomfortable and one was broken. The bed had no headboard so retreating to bed to read was uncomfortable…the window sill dug into one’s back. As stated elsewhere the bathroom is quite small…but it’s a historic building so no complaints about that. The breakfast was a real disappointment, a bad but huge muffin accompanied a little cup of fruit and a bizarre tablespoon of yogurt. There was no way to make coffee in the room so the breakfast arrival time of 8-9 was really late. We quickly gave up on breakfast and and began getting coffee and food at some nice establishments in town. I think seagull would do as well to skip breakfast service and offer coffee and (better) muffins in the office area for those who want them.

All in all I might stay again for location and price, but I wasn’t wowed.

Nothing bad to report here. An old building that has been restored and is being improved. Wonderful gardens and spots to sit outside. The view of the ocean from our room, Sand Dollar, was quite pleasant. The room was incredibly clean.

Ian was a wealth of knowledge re restaurants, attractions, etc. He accommodates varied dietary restrictions, and he has the perfect personality for being a host.

Breakfasts were tasty, healthy, and with great coffee. I am new to the west coast b & b experience, so I was surprised when breakfast was not the whole 3 course experience as is typical on the east coast. But it appears that this is quite typical here.

All in all a pleasant, relaxing, recharging experience.

This is one of the smaller B&Bs in Mendocino. Also, it is one of the few B&Bs that has a room with two beds. Our room was very spacious and the beds had lovely foam mattresses. There were fresh flowers on the table and two comfortable chairs for lounging. They do not have a breakfast room like many B&Bs, but we did have a table with two chairs, and our breakfast was brought in on a tray (with more flowers). We had these huge freshly-made muffins, yoghurt, and fresh fruit along with a pot of fresh tea.
The only "complaint" I have was the bathroom. It really needed some TLC. Our toilet seat was loose and the shower caulking was failing so some water came through. The outlet looked older and I was a bit concerned that it might not be GFI (ground-fault interrupted circuit). While you can have these type of outlets without the usual black and red buttons seen on many outlets in hotels, there was nothing to designate this circuit.
Overall, if we were to come back to Mendocino, we would stay here again. The people working there are delightful and the location is hard to beat.

Our 2nd of 10 destinations on a long road trip and I was sad to have to move on! We had a very warm welcome and our room was super comfy. Our needs were really catered for and the homemade gluten free breakfasts (muffins were top drawer!) were delicious. Take the headland walk and soak in the amazing views. I highly recommend staying at the Seagull Inn.

Perfect weather, wonderful verandah torelax and enjoy the Mendocino ambiance.
Scott, the innkeeper could not be more helpful with navigating the details of the inn, breakfast details and local recommendations. Our only “ complaints “ -
One which is-what it is,the bathroom is very small. The other - the coffee is not good. We had our Nespresso maker with us so after the first day we had our own coffee.

We had a wonderful visit.

We loved staying aat the Sea Gull Inn. Ian and Kim were very accomodating and friendly. The location was great, the section we stayed in was off from the main house and perfect. The location was right next to the trail of beautiful lush greenery that takes you right to the beach. The best part was the incredibly delicious homemade and fresh breakfasts! I was so impressed with not only the yumminess but the flowers and arrangement of it all delivered to our door. We will definitely be back!

We recently stayed here for 3 nights. The location is very convenient. The Innkeeper staff were cordial and accommodating. There is free WiFi and daily maid service. Breakfast was always interesting and delivered to the room. The garden areas are lovely. There are tables and chairs and lights strung in the trees. We also appreciated the staff's recommendations for nearby redwoods and wine tasting on highway 128. If there is any negative it is that the building is historical and old. The rooms are small. We stayed in the Sea Urchin room, one of the smaller rooms. There are several slightly larger rooms and some with views of the water.

How far from the ocean?
Mendocino2 contributions
We are approximately a 3 minute walk to the bluffs. Mendocino is a very small village approximately 5 blocks by 3 blocks jutting out into the ocean on what is called The Mendocino Headlands. We are pretty much in the middle of the village.
