My wife and I just stayed at Brewery Gulch for five nights and we never once had even the smallest concern about Covid-19. Your room is UV’ed before you arrive and no one ever enters your room after you check in (which you can do by email or phone). Masks are worn by everyone at all times except in your room. We had a very safe breakfast in bed everyday where again no one enters your room. They have reconfigured their happy hour and dinners so they are very safe but without losing any of their magic and quality. And all of their free extras are still available to you like coffee, tea, pastries, newspapers, games, magazines, books, and the biggest DVD collection of any B&B in the US, and they are made safe by having hand sanitizer at every location. And best of all, even with all of this in place, Brewery Gulch has not lost any of its warmth and charm- a truly wonderful stay!

We absolutely loved our stay at the Brewery Gulch Inn. The Inn was welcoming and cozy. The food was fantastic!! We ate the breakfast every morning (very filling and fresh) and then the wine hour in the evening (definitely enough for us for dinner). Everything felt very safe and clean during COVID. No one enters your room and all the food is individualized so you can take it up to your room. Our room was very spacious but cozy. We didn't feel cooped up at all and enjoyed having our meals in the leather chairs or on the balcony. We stayed in the Osprey room, which is a corner room and has a beautiful view of Smugglers Cove. The light in the room is amazing. There is a huge tub and bath salts for you to use. There are candles in the room as well and they can give you a matchbox downstairs. The staff was so kind and helpful. We absolutely loved our stay and would be very happy to come back!!

If you're headed to the Mendocino coast, this should be your place to stay. Most rooms in this small, intimate Inn have ocean views, the proprietor goes out of his way to make your stay pleasant and the price includes a delicious breakfast as well as evening wines and appetizers. Relax in the lounge or get active and hike, bike or kayak. We ate all our meals outside on the deck with a view of the ocean.

We visited the Inn for first time in 2009 and returned in 2020. We were hoping the Inn would be maintained in the same beautiful manner and with the food and beverage options we raved about all those years ago. We were not disappointed! In fact, we think the cuisine was even more plentiful and varied than in the past.
While the room rate seems steep at first glance, the exceptional cuisine and beer/wine included actually make the cost a good value. Staff was exceptionally friendly and every effort was made to meet our expectations as guests while observing COVID restrictions. We are already trying to figure out when we can schedule a return trip! Only suggestion would be to add a hot tub/spa outdoors. :-)

This place is an absolute dream. From the very friendly staff to the incredible food we were once again blown away by the thoughtfulness and detail in everything we experienced at the Brewery Gulch Inn. Our room was beautiful and comfortable with a view of the ocean and the sound of the waves crashing in the distance.
The staff has done an incredible job addressing the current pandemic and taking the extra steps to make us feel very safe. Oh and did I mention the food? Incredible breakfasts to start the day exploring the Mendocino coast. This is and will continue to be the most wonderful place to visit.

We have stayed at the Brewery Gulch several times and have enjoyed it each time.

The rooms are clean and they provide high end bath soap, shampoo, conditioner and bath wash. The beds are super comfortable. They provide a dinner and breakfast and they are always awesome. I saw that some people had food allergies and they were graciously taken care of.

The outdoor space is nice. It didn’t rain the first evening so we sat outdoors with a cup of coffee. They provide regular, decaf and hot water for tea.

There are several dvds to check out. The staff is really nice and helpful if you have any needs or questions. They are about a mile south of Mendocino. There is lots to do and places to explore. Check out the pigmy forest!

I have been visiting the quaint coastal town of Mendocino since I was a kid and have stayed at most of the finer lodging(s). Having said that, BGI has raised the bar to beyond a 5 star rating! Both my husband and I enjoyed the quiet atmosphere, stellar view, the thoughtful room touches; including the high quality Molton Brown bath products and lush towels. The staff are cheerful, engaging and the entire property adheres to the strict guidelines put into place due to CV19 which gave us peace of mind. The owners are generous beyond measure- they pour 4 to 5 different wines and beers each evening which is followed by a three (3) course (complimentary) sit down dinner. We are foodies (see our TA restaurant reviews)..and we enjoyed two very memorable dinners and breakfast prepared by their talented in-house chef. Did I forget to say how delicious everything tasted? We have found the Mendocino coastal gem and if you are looking for a wonderful place to visit - BGI will deliver the hospitality and more; it is more than just a place!!!

For our 40th anniversary, we were looking to drive to someplace that we had never been - a difficult proposition as we have lived on the west coast throughout our marriage. When we settled on Mendocino, we quickly realized that the lodging options were limited and mostly at price points that did not scream 'very special romantic getaway'. The Brewery Gulch Inn seemed closest to what we were looking for so we took a flyer. And they really delivered. The property offered the quiet, remote experience that we were looking for and we quickly were impressed by the staff, the overall ambience and the FOOD! Rooms were very clean and beds were comfortable. When our trip was cut short by a couple of days due to a fire evacuation warning from home, the staff and proprietor were most understanding and accommodating, We will be sure to return.

Staying here was the best decision we could have made during our relaxing weekend in Mendocino.

The property: Beautiful grounds and the Inn is gorgeous inside, with a large fireplace in the middle of the central area. There were games and tables all around where guests could have their own privacy or interact with other guests. It felt very comfortable and homey. The property is a little further off the coast than images would suggest. There is a road separating the property from the water. It's still a great view, however.

The room: We stayed in Raven, which was a corner room with water views. The room was spacious with a cozy fireplace, large bath tub/shower with windows that open out to an ocean view, and a small balcony to sit and watch birds or look at the ocean. The amenities were high end and the bed was incredibly comfortable. Haven't slept that well in a while!

The service: Guy and the team are truly incredible. They will go above and beyond to ensure you have the best stay and have planned amazing activities. Guy knew me and my partner liked Jenga, so he bought a set and kept it in the room for us. It was extremely thoughtful. The breakfast and wine hour is delicious and not to be missed. If you need anything at all, the team will make sure you are taken care of from reservations, to horseback riding, to recommendations on hikes.

I love the BGI and fell in love with Mendocino. We'll be back soon!

Room Tip: Call and ask. They'll be honest. Raven and Osprey are single rooms bc of the water view.

The proprietor and his staff did everything to make us feel like we were in someone's home: great hiking and restaurant recommendations. With the Pandemic there were certain changes like no maid service but breakfast and dinner could be served in room. Our room was on the first floor, with a view of the ocean and a little patio where we could sit. Breakfast was AMAZING and "happy hour" included wine/beer and a dinner: salad, main meal and dessert. No buffet, so we were served and Covid distance and mask precautions were followed. This is the first such place we've stayed at since the Pandemic and we will certainly stay again.

No, there isn't a full service restaurant or bar. However, there is a menu for breakfast and it is prepared to order. It is amazing. And the light dinner includes a selection of wine and beer during the dinner hour. This is all included in the room price!!!!!

Is there road noise? Also what is the view like
Answer from Sarah R
Hi there! There is some light traffic that goes by on the highway adjacent but usually isn't a huge noise issue, especially at night when our quiet rural area is mostly inactive. View is from atop a small hill looking west towards the ocean and Smuggler's Cove. Room tip, we have two and a half floors and the higher you go up, the better the view gets!

All rooms, except for two, have a shower over tub. The exceptions are one of our first floor queen rooms, Redwood, that has a barrier-free stall shower ( it is our ADA room), and the room next to it, a corner king (Manzanita). It has a one-person deep Japanese soaking tub and a separate stall shower.
