We visit McCloud, on a good year more than once, to fly fish it's namesake river, hike the stunning trails and to relish our stay at the Mercantile. There is something magical about the area...it's beauty, friendliness and the charm of the Mercantile which is hard to describe. I have tried to convey it's unique qualities, show pictures, etc., however... More

The Charles Miller room had a wonderful view of Mt. Shasta. The room had great character; spectacular woodowork, high ceilings and a well appointed bath. This particular room had a comfortable king bed and a large twin which was in its own semi-private alcove. The bathroom had a tiled shower room with toilet and a separate vanity/whirlpool bath room. This... More

Is it haunted? We arrived at the Mercantile Hotel on a windy, overcast evening and went to bed with the window open. The breeze caused the embossed tin ceiling to "whisper." I love the bathroom with its claw footed tub and the bedroom with the old glass divider. Best of all is the quiet. We saw no-one else during our... More

This is our second trip to the Mercantile. We are in the Minnesota room which faces Main Street. It's a spacious room with a queen bed which is comfortable and has super soft Monarch Cypress sheets. I love the character of this hotel, with 12 foot ceilings, exposed pipes, wallpaper and wainscoting. The staff has been helpful and everything is... More

This hotel has been tastefully restored. Each room has it's own personality. Very good internet connection. We thoroughly enjoyed our stay--comfortable bed, very clean room and great breakfast. We will definitely stay here again when in the area.

This hotel is beyond beautiful.... The rooms are huge and gorgeous. The customer service is wonderful. My husband and I went for one night to the Shasta Wintu room and it was the best night we've stayed anywhere. Truly thankful for this gem only an hour away. ❤️

We have stayed here many times and would highly recommend it to everyone. The rooms are all wonderful, each with a different theme. They are large and very clean and have wonderful bathrooms. The best part about staying here is the wonderful staff. It is located in the picturesque town of Mc Cloud. Just lovely in every way, you would... More

The first thing I look for is cleanliness. And it definitely is well kept and clean! The staff was accommodating, friendly, attentive and helpful. We stayed in the lodge. A beautifully decorated room reminiscent of the early 1900s - (only updated) with wood plank vaulted ceilings and original wood floor. The bath however, was pleasing with a VERY generous clear... We were in McCloud, CA for a wedding. What a quaint hotel and little town. The rooms are VERY CUTE! We had a very relaxing time. Everything was fantastic! The hotel is great for both family and couples. The common room was fantastic for all of our families to get together in to visit (like a big living room).

This was my 6th visit to this beautiful hotel and I cannot say enough about this wonderful hotel. The vibe is just as pleasant as can be and the owners are the friendliest people.
