We stayed in the Arts & Crafts Room on the 2nd floor (all rooms are on the 2nd floor of this hotel). It was impeccably restored, just an exceptional job. I felt like I was back in the 19th century, staying in a sumptuous frontier hotel. Our room was enormous, with high ceilings and sparse furnishings but sparse in a... More

We made a last minute decision to spend a nite here with friends. Stayed in G. G's attic. Check in was done at store and you need to be there before 6 pm. The inn is up on 2nd floor. The common area has marginal furniture which was not comfortable and very poor lighting for reading. Our room and bath... More

My wife and I stayed in the arts and crafts room. We were more than happy with our oversized comfortable room. This place has been around and the architecture shows it. The owners take pride in the upkeep and it shows. We had nothing but pleasantness all about. Breakfast was equally pleasant down in the restaurant.

Really nicely done, unique rooms on the 2nd floor of this mercantile building. You check in at the store on the first floor, which we noticed was full of interesting things (mental note to shop in the morning!), and the people who run it are helpful and very nice. We were there on a Tuesday night, not much open for... More

Very beautiful old fashioned hotel. Each room has its own layout and fun names. It's above shops and restaurants. Both restaurants are very good. Very small town charm, quite and peaceful. The town of Mt Shasta is near by if you are getting small town fear. The falls were close by very pretty to see and walk around near the... More

Ever feel like you just step back in time? This is the place where you definitely experience this feeling. The building was once the old company store and the owners have done a wonderful remodeling job. Every room is decorated differently with periods artifacts and design. The beds are so comfortable it is hard to get up in the morning. On... More

This hotel is a boutique hotel from the railroad era. There are a number of hotel rooms upstairs which are decorated in period design - they are clean and spacious, and some even have a jacuzzi. Some also have a view of Mt Shasta and are a bit pricier. Breakfast is served at a cafeteria in the Mercantile - and... More

Spent several days here at a tango festival event. Historic building, very western. They have had fun setting up the large rooms with theme decor from earlier decades. Quite comfortable, but keep in mind that there are tradeoffs with any property of this type. For example, long stairway, no elevator. The keycard kept erasing its code, had to get it... More

A vacation can be just as much about the journey as the destination. Do yourself (and your vacation!) the favor and book your night here at the Mercantile Hotel and skip those grungy hotels on I-5. Only about a short 10 minute drive off of the 1-5, the McCloud Mercantile Hotel is located and a beautiful and scenic small town... More

The room was clean and comfortable, they have a common area to play games with a fridge and microwave, the rooms are above the store and restaurant, it is a B&B so they give you a credit at the restaurant which has very good breakfast, you just order off the menu and they deduct whatever credit you have. I would... More
