Creekside Lodge is a perfect place to stay just 30 minutes from Kirkwood. It is extremely clean and has all the basic amenities you need, with very comfortable beds. There is a great brewery next door with excellent food and drinks. I highly recommend this quaint lodge for anyone wanting to stay close to Kirkwood in the Winter at a reasonable price.

Creekside Lodge is a beautiful place to stay. We had to leave a nasty, filthy place up the road. We called late and the owner was so kind and helpful. The rooms are very clean, up dated and comfortable. The managers are animal lovers and care deeply about the quality and comfort they provide. The rooms have a small fridge, tv, wifi, bathroom amenities and comfy beds. More than anything, they are very clean.

My husband and I were looking for a place to take a week break in the time of COVID. We decided on Creekside Lodge in Markleeville. What a great choice. Jeannie and Todd are very aware of the virus and keep the place spotless. It was the perfect choice for us. Now we will spend time throwing fishing lines in streams, lakes and rivers and breathe clean air.

Nice single level older Hotel - rooms have been updated and our nicely furnished - cozy! Hindsight… the King Room is NOT large enough for myself, husband, 9 ur old and dog. Todd was gracious enough to bring us a futon and extra blankets for our son; we were able to cram it @ the foot of the bed. Luckily, we were only staying one night. Next time, we’ll get a larger room. Otherwise, the small style was nice, 24 he separate “room” for ice & microwave (if needed). The bed we had was ULTRA plush, too soft for our liking. Nice to stay somewhere & have great food options next door & across the street.

I was looking for a room at the last minute en route to Lassen, having come from a $600/night cottage at the Ahwahnee. Though his 12 hour shift had already ended, the proprietor (wonderful guy named Todd) cleaned a room for me. It was spotless, had perfect wifi and all the amenities one could need. And all for only 130/night. I offered the proprietor a well-deserved tip, which he refused to accept. My room at the Creekside Lodge beat the Ahwahnee by miles. And the location was/is perfect.

This place is a treasure!!!! We live about 1 1/2 hours from beautiful Markleeville and when we want to get away to the high sierras for one night, one of the places we go is Markleeville. It is a cute, peaceful, beautiful little mountain town and we stay at this gem everytime we go. Tim, the Manager is one of the reasons we love this place. The rooms are clean, cute, and have that cool mountain vibe and Tim is a friendly, accomodating host. I cannot say enough about this wonderful place!!!!!

This was our second trip to Markleville and stay at Creekside Lodge. We love this place. Quite and comfortable. Todd is quite the host. He can strike up conversations with a grizzly bear. We have two more trips planned for the summer. Forever patrons, Steve and Nina.
PS: thanks for "free beers" Todd.

I first stayed at Creekside Lodge some 30 years ago. Charitably, it was a dump. Today it is a completely remodeled, charmingly decorated, eminently comfortable wayside in the micro-town of Markeeville in California's least populated county, Alpine. Given that it's one of the few places to stay in this relatively remote spot of the Sierras, the rates are more than fair. You can get a great breakfast, lunch or dinner at the restaurant next door, and there's a general store across the street. We now use it as our regular base for annual fly fishing trips to the region, saving us a 50 minute drive to Minden, NV.

The Creekside Lodge is currently the best bet in Markleeville (perhaps only according to me). The rooms are wonderfully decorated in appropriate rustic fashion. The beds are large and comfortable with ceiling fans to cool you down during the warmer months. Jeanie, the operator, is an energetic woman who will steer you in the right direction to whatever you may need. Located in the absolute center of town - something not hard to do given Markleeville's absurdly small size - makes it easy to access everything the town has to offer. Further, you are right next door to the Wolf Creek restaurant, which by all accounts serves a good fare daily. Bottom-line, I would recommend this place to my family if there were to stay in the area.

*As I always mention, readers should take into account the fact that my rating of this hotel is in relation to other similar properties as it is not going to be on par with a Ritz Carlton type property.

Clean and comfortable rooms with an updated mountain decor. Rates are reasonable, pets are allowed, check-in was smooth and efficient. Ice machine, hot and cold water machine, coffee, tea and hot chocolate available in the breezeway. The Wolf Creek restaurant next door had wonderful meals at reasonable prices. You have to try the ribs! Markleeville is situated along an Alpine creek in a beautiful and peaceful location that provided wonderful scenery on the drive to town. We really enjoyed our stay. Will definately go back there for another weekend getaway.
