Thank you, Creekside Lodge, for the wonderful stay of 5 nights in July of 2019. Your clean and comfortable rooms, along with your staff friendliness and hospitality, makes you a repeat plan each time we visit family in Markleeville. And thank you Todd of Creekside Lodge for your fishing gear and expert local area fishing advice. The photo below is taken at Indian Creek Reservoir near Markleeville and caught and released on July 30th, 2019.
My son and I stay at the Creekside Lodge a couple of times a year when we head up to Markleeville to fish the Carson River and Indian Creek Reservoir and other lakes in the area. The rooms are pretty basic, no phone or TV, so bring a deck of cards to keep yourselves entertained at night. They do have WIFI. Normally I would rate a place like this a 3, but the location makes it a 4 for us, plus the owner Todd is a really nice guy and gives us all of the current hot spots for hooking into the big ones. The food at the adjacent Cutthroat Saloon is really good, especially the burgers and the soups. Last time we visited, 11/18 they didn't have their liquor license. Hope that gets resolved soon. If you happen to be there in the summer when Stone Fly is open, check it out for a really good meal. In Markleeville it's also a blast to toss a football or frisbee across the highway for a while. Where else can you do that?…
Creekside Lodge was a great place to stay while we had fun exploring the historic town of Markleeville. The hotel is sort of old-fashioned, but in a good way. Reasonably priced. The room and bathroom were updated and very clean. The management was helpful and nice. For dinner, we drove about 20 minutes from Markleeville to Sorensen's at the Hope Valley Resorts and had a delicious meal. Be sure and make a reservation if you decide to eat there because it's a small place. We were driving north on 395 and took the very scenic Monitor Pass (not open in the winter) to get to Markleeville.
I reserved at the last minute and the receptionist was apologetic stating that they only had room 1 available. We found a nicely appointed room. We were at the front of the building but it was very quiet. It was a standard double but that worked for us. Some of the other motels along 395 could learn customer service from the people who work here. Very gracious in spite of the busy time at checking
A very cute place which was comfortable and had everything we needed for our stay. We encountered a small problem during our stay which was not the fault of the Lodge at all, but they were very helpful anyway and we resolved our issue thanks to them.
