This motel is not for everybody, but I liked it. It's Mariposa's oldest motel, and proudly announces it. So the rooms are tiny (at least, mine was) and things are kind of creaky and cramped. There was a funny old desk with drawers where stuff could be put away, but you couldn't sit at it to use it as a desk because the mini-fridge was underneath. But the WiFi was fine.
I never dealt with the office. They leave the keys in the room doors before guests arrive, and there's a blackboard telling you which room is yours. (Which may bother some people, because now everybody in the world knows your name and which room you're in, but personally I didn't care.) Unlike every other hotel or motel in the US right now, they DO have daily housekeeping.
There's a little cafe semi-attached which sold good breakfast stuff - I had a very nice salmon/cream cheese/sourdough toast, and the sweet baked goods looked really nice. Good coffee.
Great location, walking distance to restaurants, and the YARTS bus to Yosemite stops practically at the door.

Very comfortable, quiet, cozy and charming room. This little hotel is just a half block off of the historical main street with plenty of downtown restaurants, shops and beer/wine tasting, pubs with musical entertainment. We're locals, and came here to stay for a "date night", and it was so nice to have a couple of drinks downtown and just walk back to our room. Hotel has satellite TV, a mini fridge and coffee maker, and their Deli Garden cafe has food that is off the charts with plenty of vegetarian options. Mariposa is a fun little town close to Yosemite and a great place to relax after hiking and site-seeing. Lots of history in town because of John C Fremont and the gold-rush.

Wow. Not only is Mariposa gorgeous, just off the main street is the oldest motel in the area & that too is wonderful. We were given a beautiful well equipped cosy cabin, lovingly decorated & some delicious cookies to try-it just feels obvious that the owners really adore this place & want their guests to too. Great granola at breakfast just made the whole stay perfect.

I mistakenly made the reservation for the day before I should have for two rooms. When I figured it out I called the owner and was told there was only one room available of the next day. I made it very clear to her that since we were in Lake Tahoe we were not going to be able to make it that night. I told her I will call Expedia to get the issue solved. When I called Expedia they called the hotel while I was on the phone and she told them that if she was able to sell the rooms we would get our money back. Later that night we called the hotel to inquire if any rooms are available for that night and was told no. I called the next morning asking Stephanie if we were going to get reimbursed and was told she was not able to sell the rooms. I told her that we had called the night before and her response was "I knew that was you" which she must have repeated four different times. She then lied and said that Expedia told her that we were going to maybe try to make it that night so she didn't sell them. It boils down to either she sold the rooms and didn't want give us our money back or didn't try to sell the rooms like she said she did and lied to us on the phone. I will never book a reservation with a company I don't trust.

While the rooms are small and the bathroom even smaller this is still a good place to stay if you're not actually staying in Yosemite given the options in Mariposa. The River Rock Inn is unusual in many respects, not the least of which is that when you arrive your room key, a real key, is in your door waiting on you. The rooms are very clean and the bed is nice and the location is centrally located in town, Given the prices of accommodations in the area, I would definitely stay here again.

We arrived very late after after dealing with a shredded back tyre miles from anywhere to find our names on a blackboard pointing to our room & the key in the door. The location couldn't be better for visiting Yosemite & the town is cute & worth a visit. It was great to be able to park up & have a short walk to restaurants, etc.
BUT if you can, avoid room 8. It's somewhat separate from the rest of the rooms & attached to the coffee shop fronting 7th Street (coffee shop is leased so not run by the Inn's owner) so at 06.15 we were woken by a strong smell of coffee being ground then at 07.00ish the smell of bacon started. Not too bad a problem perhaps, if a bit early on your holidays! The room was very dark as we had to keep the blinds closed for some privacy. There was a terrace/patio area immediately outside our room which I didn't realise wasn't private until we opened the door to find people eating breakfast & working on laptops right in front of us. This may not bother some people but it's important to know.

My daughter and I stayed her during spring break and found this inn to be very nice. We stayed in one of the rooms with two queen beds and there was plenty of space in the room.

Pros:
* Quiet place off the main street of Mariposa
* Staff was very friendly
* Room was very clean with plenty of towels

Cons:
* Bathroom was really small and tight
* The TV channel package did not have ESPN or other sports channels
* Parking is a little tight and if you are the first one to leave, it will require a 7 point turn.

Overall, this was a very nice place and I would have no problem returning there on our next visit to Yosemite

We had 3 rooms, 2 of them turned outt o be 2 bedroom suites (and we could definitely have fitted the 5 of us in those 2) and we were really pleased with our stay. We never met the owners or saw anyone in the office but the keys were in our doors when we arrived and a clear list on the front door told us where to go.

We had some evening drinks on the patio from the Stix deli on site which seemed a very popular spot for coffee in the morning - although we left on 2 out of 3 mornings before it opened at 7am to get into Yosemite before 6am as we had no reservations for the park.

RiverRockInn is about an hour from at least two gates into Yosemite NP - it may be a bit longer of you weren't travelling at 5am as we were!

We liked Mariposa as a small town too overall

Coffee/Deli shop was great and that is all that was Great. Rooms are clean, but very old. Dated furniture, old mattress. Bathroom very hokey, it reminded me of Guatemala. No room service provided, had to request clean towels. Staff informed they have only one key per room. Check in is done by taking your key off the board hanging outside the coffee shop with your name and room number written in chalk. Location is convenient for walking to numerous restaurants.

The River Rock Inn is GREAT. We got a room (#9) with two beds and it was huge and comfortable. The bathroom was also very nice. Others in our party said their bathrooms were smaller. We had a huge group, 17 people, some stayed at other properties nearby. But the River Rock Inn is located in the same block as the best two restaurants in town, Savoury's and Charles, and across the street from a mini mart with many other things you might need, like ice. There is plenty of parking off street in the River Rock lot. The small cafe on the property is really great, but closed Sunday and Monday. It's a locals hangout and since the River Rock has a huge outside terrace with 10+ tables, there is plenty of space for everyone to relax. The cafe serves coffee and great food, the Breakfast Sammie is excellent, and there is wine and cold beer too. We would go back to Mariposa, a super charming town with lots to do, it's on the way to Yosemite and the Mariposa Grove of Sequoias, too. We would stay at the River Rock again gladly!
