In October while driving from San Diego heading to the River Rock Inn in Mariposa, we got stuck in the Saddle Bridge fire in Santa Clarita as evacuation alerts were going on. The 210 and 5 were both completely shut down. Due to the smoke (my husband has cardiovascular disease) and inability to travel, we did not want to proceed further. I tried calling the Inn 3 times and could not reach anyone. I finally reached one of the owners, by phone two days later to let him know we tried to cancel our reservation due to the fire. Kieth referred me back to Booking.com to inquire about a refund. I did contact booking.com. Per booking.com, the River Rock Inn will let you cancel for free, without penalties. We’ve cancelled your reservation and emailed you a cancellation confirmation. I never received the refund and called the owner, Stephanie back. She was argumentative and told me there was no reason to cancel the reservation, there was no safety issue? Hmm Fire? She indicated that they are small business owners and have a strict refund policy. Stephanie told me she would call me back. She never did, I emailed her. She never responded. How poor is it that a small business owner will put their customer’s safety at risk for $179.67. Sadly this business had no concern for extenuating circumstances that were beyond our control. This speaks volumes to their lack of customer service and business practices. Look elsewhere to stay when you are heading to Yosemite!…
As the oldest motel in town you might expect the rooms to be small and some difficulty with modernization and you would be right. Unfortunately for me the heater didn't work in the room I was in and since there is no desk staff the problem wasn't addressed until the next morning. This motel is a little to 'quaint' and rustic for me.
I booked this on hotels.com which is always kind of concerning. But this turned out to be a part of history this building is from 1891.First was the beautiful room with details and homemade cookies that are out of this world. I love the beautiful romantic lighting and the amazing heater that kept us toasty all night. The final jam was to walk into the deli nearby and to see the amazing breakfast that comes with the room. It had homemade granola fresh made quiche and fresh berries along with the other choices.I can’t wait to come back here again and spend two or three days. It’s a 45 minute drive to Yosemite.
Stayed here 2 nights in October 2019 and was delighted with every aspect of the property--clean rooms, friendly staff, excellent continental breakfast, charming town. Our room was clean and the bathroom was spacious. The drive in and out of the park is best done during daylight, so plan ahead by checking on the time of sunset. Would recommend and would return.
My husband and I stayed here for 2 nights in August as a base for visiting Yosemite NP. This is a chalet type motel, very tidy and in a great location. Your name and room/chalet number are written on a chalk board and your key is in the door so no check-in necessary which is handy if you are arriving late. Our room was really spacious with plenty of storage, tv, coffee maker etc. Nice bathroom and shower and big comfy bed. Breakfast was included and there was plenty to choose from, breads, cereals, fruit, pastries, tea and coffee etc. Mariposa was a highlight of our trip and we thoroughly enjoyed staying at the River rock inn and deli and would highly recommend it.
